Abstract 
 
Introduction: Invasive melanoma of the skin is the third most common cancer 
diagnosed among adolescents and young adults in USA. Exposure to the sun is the most 
important environmental cause of skin cancer. The rate of melanoma has increased 
since adolescents and young people started tanning. To achieve the tanned look without 
sun exposure various sunless tanning formulations have become available. Most of 
these contain dihydroxyacetone (DHA). Cosmetics industry is one of the strongest 
stimulating applications of nanotechnology. Nanoparticles (NPs) are an open door for 
new products with improvements in formulation and functional properties. In this study, 
polymeric nanostructures containing dihydroxyacetone were fabricated to investigate 
the possibility of use in artificial tanners. Its physicochemical properties also were 
investigated. 
Methods: After weighing the appropriate amounts of polylactic acid and polyethylene 
glycol and preparing solutions of polylactic acid and polyethylene glycol, and then 
combining the two solutions and performing reflux, dihydroxyacetone was added to the 
resulting solution, then by using the microwave, polylactic acid / polyethylenethylene 
polymeric nanoparticles was prepared. The final formulation was examined in terms of 
particle size distribution, appearance and stability. 
Results: Electronic microscope image shows the formation of polymeric nanoparticles. 
The results showed that the particle size of nanoparticles is in the range of 102 to 171 
nm. After examining the stability of the drug in 3 environments of room, refrigerator at 
(4 °C) and oven at (45 
°
C) after 1 months, no significant changes in the shape and size 
of particles were observed and it was observed that the percentage of drug remaining in 
the formulation after one month in all 3 environments is more than 80%. 
Conclusion: The formulation of nanoparticles containing dihydroxyacetone was 
prepared with good quality and remarkable stability, which can be more studied as a 
tanning product.

Abstract 
 
Introduction: Drug stability studies ensure the shelf life, product quality, safety and 
useful life of drugs in pharmacies and as a prerequisite is necessary, one of the factors 
affecting drug stability is humidity and temperature, Iran also has different climates 
with temperature and Humidity varies. Therefore, it is necessary for these sustainability 
studies to be conducted in Iran as well. 
Method: Meteorological data in four years, ie temperature and humidity of all synoptic 
meteorological stations in the country, according to the available formulas, were 
determined in different climatic regions of Iran, so that the expiration date of drugs in 
different climatic zones can be checked. 
Results: The temperature results are adjusted according to MKT formula and humidity 
in three values of minimum, maximum and optimal in different parts of the country. 
According to the results, Iran is mostly located in regions two and three, and small areas 
of Ardabil, Tehran and Mazandaran are located in climate zones one, and parts of 
Gorgan and the south of the country are located in region four. 
Conclusion: According to the results obtained in the study and the existence of climatic 
diversity in Iran, the most suitable test conditions for long-term stability studies have 
been proposed.
