Iowa Respiratory Virus Surveillance Report: Week 11, March 21, 2025
The Iowa Influenza Surveillance Network (IISN) was established in 2004, though surveillance has been conducted at the Iowa Department of Public Health. Schools and long-term care facilities report data weekly into a Web-based reporting system. Schools report the number of students absent due to illness and the total enrolled. Long-term care facilities report cases of influenza and vaccination status of each case. Both passively report outbreaks of illness, including influenza, to IDPH. Beginning April of 2023, the report began to include COVID-19 information
Research In Progress: Collaborating on Connected and Automated Vehicle Technology across the Midwest, TPF-5(532), 2025
This Mid-America Association of State Transportation Officials
(MAASTO) pooled fund will support collaborative research and
information exchange about CAV technology and establish a common strategic direction for advancing CAV deployments. The study will provide member states with needed engineering and technical support services to research, develop, and deploy CAV technology and to promote various CAV-related initiatives among neighboring Midwestern states. Iowa is participating in this study to maximize the benefits offered by CAV and to
ensure implementation is feasible in lower-population states
2024 Condition of Education, 2025
The 2024 edition of the Annual Condition of Education Report (COE) marks the 35th edition of the report. For over 30 years, the Department has published the COE in order to provide education stakeholders critical data about the status of Iowa’s education system. The 2024 COE includes a wide variety of content including information about Iowa’s students, schools, educators, administrators, performance and school finance. A companion online version of the COE is also available at reports.educateiowa.gov/COE/ which allows users to explore state trends and localize information for specific districts and communities.
