The impact of action research on sports coaches’ learning : a college rugby coach’s approach to promoting player autonomy
Get PDFPrevious studies targeting the learning of rugby coaches using Action Research have focused on the elite level. This study examined the impact of Action Research on non-elite level rugby coaches.
The coaches in this study were both the primary author and the researcher. In order to verify the effective-ness of Action Research, three different perspectives were evaluated to ensure triangulation. In the process of the research, the coach (the author) focused on improving the Ask and Delegate approaches. The results of the Action Research showed that the coach’s (the author’s) Ask and Delegate approaches improved.
Therefore, the results suggest that Action Research is effective even when targeting rugby coach who is not at the elite level.アクションリサーチを用いてラグビーコーチの学習を対象とした先行研究はエリートレベルを対象としてきた。本研究はアクションリサーチがエリートレベルではないラグビーコーチに対する影響を検証した。
対象となるコーチは筆頭筆者であり，研究者としての側面も併せ持っていた。アクションリサーチの有効性を検証するため，異なる3つの視点による評価を行い，トライアンギュレーションを確保した。研究を進める中で，コーチ（筆者）は選手の自律性を向上させるアプローチとして，AskとDelegateを向上させることをテーマとした。
アクションリサーチの結果，コーチ（筆者）のAskとDelegateは向上したと評価された。したがって，アクションリサーチはエリートレベルではないラグビーコーチを対象とした場合でも有効であることが示唆された。原著論文departmental bulletin pape
