Navigating the moral imperatives of parenting in the age of (dis)connection: A care-minded approach to digital media use by parents in Denmark
No full textIn this chapter, I examine how digital (dis)connection intertwines with andrelates to care in the practices of parents living in Denmark. I ask the following questions: How do parents strive to care for their children with and without digital technologies? And what can feminist care perspectives do for theories of disconnection? This chapter is based on 20 in-depth interviews with parents of children aged 0–12. Parents’ experiences demonstrate how digital technologies can help create both the preconditions and the context for care. The use of technology does not come without tension, however, as parents perceive that it can also interfere with an active good life and compete for their attention. Taken together, parents’ practices and discourses of (dis)connection offer insight into the moral imperatives surrounding digital media use in the family.This work was supported by the “Datafied Living” project, funded by the European Research Council (grant no. 947735). </p

No full textThe main background for this guideline is the Nordic e-Health Standardization group’s mandate topic which deals with contributing and communicating the initiative of “Reducing clinician burden” (RCB) - initiative. It has become increasingly important to ascertain how one might support healthcare professionals’ daily work and how to facilitate better data quality using e-Health standards. The Nordic work group has formulated some principles and recommendations all stakeholders involved in standardization work should follow. They are intended to apply to improving data quality, to support daily work and to contribute to reducing the overall burden of clinical work to healthcare professionals

De nordiske lande er alle medlemmer av NATO og dette åpner nye muligheter for det nordiske samarbeidet. Samtidig står verden overfor flere store utfordringer. Mindre naturmangfold og store klimaendringer. Kunstig intelligens og cybersikkerhet. Voksende ulikhet og trusler mot demokratiet. Nordisk samarbeid har nok aldri vært viktigere enn i dag og det nordiske samarbeides grunnlov – Helsingforsavtalen – må adressere de utfordringer og muligheter som Norden står overfor. LCA on reuse of packaging in the Nordics : A case of comparing reusable alternatives to current disposable packaging
No full textThe study's goal was to understand the environmental impacts of different types of packaging throughout the life cycle, specifically reusable versus single-use ones, in takeaway and e-commerce industries in Nordic countries. It found that reusable packaging can be more eco-friendly, though how it compares depends on various factors, including how often it's reused. The study emphasises that there's no one-size-fits-all answer, as specific circumstances greatly influence results. However, with smart design and encouraging correct use, reusable packaging could significantly decrease environmental impact, offering a more sustainable path forward

No full textGiven the right support, persons with CHARGE syndrome can overcome not only medical challenges but also various other obstacles, and lead fulfilling lives. This publication shows, through case studies and interviews, some daily lives, challenges, and achievements of persons living with CHARGE syndrome, emphasizing the importance of understanding and support from their community. Living with CHARGE syndrome can entail different aspects and challenges. Often, the focus revolves around the medical aspects, and less on how individuals can function in their day-to-day lives. There is a lack of case descriptions and interviews, telling the story from the perspective of the persons living with the syndrome themselves. In this publication you meet Thomas’s mother who gives a very personal account of how it was to learn that her newborn baby had CHARGE syndrome. Read about Dominic who is in primary school, knows three languages but also struggles with balance and sight, which makes him exhausted at the end of the day. Karl recently got his drivers’ licence and wants to move to the capital to get to know more people who knows sign language. Together with Charlie, Anna, Inga, and Linda they have all let us into their lives, displaying challenges, personal growth, and development. The aim of this publication is to show the diversity and give a voice to a group that seldom is heard. Hopefully, parents, legal guardians, and relatives can get a more positive picture of what life with CHARGE syndrome might look like

Equines in the Nordics: History, status and genetics
No full textWith roots as far as the Bronze age, equines have played an invaluable role in history, both with regards to agriculture and forestry, warfare, transportation and leisure, and therefore hold important cultural signi icance in the Nordics. The link between horses and the welfare bene its of their caregivers makes the species an important part of society as well. Since the agricultural and industrial revolution, the equine sector has been in luenced by a range of challenges due to the dramatic change in the role of horses in society, especially for the Nordic native breeds. However, as society adapts and finds new ways to use and protect them, there is a hope for the future. Although there has been cooperation between the Nordic countries in the horse sector, a collective report of the status of all the Nordic countries has been missing. This report marks a start for this type of effort by considering both commercial and native breeds. Further, it comprises the horse sector in the Nordics, with a special focus on the native horse breeds and the possibilities they carry for environmental sustainability, their socio-economic importance, their genetics as well as their risk status. The report further evaluates the Domestic Animal Diversity Information System (DAD-IS) maintained and developed by FAO as a tool for gathering information about the development and current status of the native breeds. The goal of this report is to identify knowledge gaps and areas of improvement for the Nordic equine sector and the collected data of the native horse breeds. One of the biggest challenges has been to find validated information sources for the population numbers of the breeds in each country – there are varying estimates for both commercial and native breeds. The numbers have significant impact for the determination of managing strategies of the populations. Reports for each of the countries (Denmark, Finland, the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Norway and Sweden) are presented, and depict the current role of horses, breeding, population development and economic values of the equine sector are listed in each of the country-reports. NOMAD Maas roaming final report
No full textThe primary project addressed by the NOMAD (The Nordic Open Mobility and Digitalization) project is the need for seamless, cross-border journeys involving scheduled services and on-demand services like taxis, micro-mobility, and car-pooling. The challenge lies in compensating for services provided by different Maas agents, whether publicly or privately funded. The project proposes a solution by standardizing interfaces between mobility providers, enabling the roaming of travel services and creating unified, user-friendly experiences. The Maas roaming concept, inspired by mobile phone roaming, envisions using local Maas agent apps to plan, book and pay for trips across borders. In Summmary, the NOMAD project addresses the complex landscape of corss-border mobility challenges, striving to create a standardized, user-centric approach to Maas roaming.
