Policy tools for sustainable and healthy eating : Enabling a food transition in the Nordic countries
No full textThis report addresses the gap between current Nordic diets and the Nordic Nutrition Recommendations 2023, emphasising the urgency for policy interventions to drive substantial behavioural shifts towards healthier and more sustainable diets. It introduces a Nordic behaviour change framework that describes determinants influencing the individual’s dietary behaviour and the enabling role of policy instruments in incentivising behavioural changes. The report advocates for a multifaceted policy approach, including taxes, subsidies, public procurement, information campaigns, educational initiatives, nudging instruments and labeling to encourage a shift in dietary behaviour. These efforts are consolidated into five key recommendations
Mineral to Metal Traceability : A Proof-Of-Concept Study of Rare Earth Elements in the Nordic Region
No full textTraceability is considered imperative for ensuring the transparency, accountability and sustainability of intertwined global supply chains of minerals and metals. The ability to trace and track the flow and transformation of these mineral raw materials requires full documentation and transmission of information relevant to the material flow. Equally important is to have a holistic understanding of the minerals and their metals and all their derivative products with respect to their geological, mineralogical, geochemical and isotopic characteristics. The former, known as document- or paper-based traceability, has been under active investigation by many research initiatives, while the latter, known as geo-based traceability, is the focal point of this research.

Although we get a lot of things right, big tasks lie ahead if we are to reach our vision to be the most integrated and sustainable region in the world by 2030. The Sustainable Living programme, running from 2021 through 2024, is a response to this challenge and a call to action. It has explored what a sustainable Nordic lifestyle entails and formulated concrete guidelines and tools for policy and business development. It has demonstrated public impact through the spread of information and inspiration, the development of new business areas that can be ecolabelled and the demonstration of necessary behavioural and cultural changes. No full textDe nordiske kulturministrenes samarbeid om kunst, kultur og medier er et kjerneområde i Nordisk ministerråd. I de nordiske landene står vi sterkere sammen gjennom et utviklet kultursamarbeid over grensene. I møte med store indre og ytre samfunns- og omverdensforandringer blir det tydelig at et fritt og levende kulturliv og frie medier spiller en avgjørende rolle for samhold, håp og livskvalitet. Ministerrådet for kultur legger i de kommende årene særlig vekt på å opprettholde resiliente (motstandsdyktige) og demokratiske samfunn. Arbeidet for et inkluderende kulturliv som er tilgjengelig for alle, er prioritert, ikke minst for å styrke barn og unge og deres trivsel. De siste årenes hendelser har vist at et fortsatt vern av frie kunstneriske uttrykk og en styrket beredskap for beskyttelse av kulturarv er områder som krever både diskusjon og felles handling. Kunsten, kulturen og kunnskapen om kulturarv gir perspektiver og hjelper oss å forstå og håndtere klimaendringer, tap av biodiversitet og forurensing i hav og på land. Kunst og kultur bidrar i omstillingen til mer bærekraftige livsstiler.
Open local communities in the Nordic Atlantic
No full textThis report argues that diversification in value chains and the social organisation of Nordic coastal communities is also followed by a diversity in local identities, place values, and mobile practices. People engage with, value, and manage places in new, diverse, and open ways, which is reflected in their social organisation and economic activities. Consequently, Nordic coastal communities have become increasingly open, and the findings presented in this report address these changes through case studies from coastal communities in Norway, the Faroes, Iceland, and Greenland. This report also serves as a follow-up to our previous report on value chains and resilient communities in the North Atlantic (TemaNord 2022:555)

A Nordic framework for patient safety knowledge and skills : Competence areas for safe healthcare
No full textA Nordic framework for patient safety knowledge and skills describes the learning objectives for patient safety from the perspective of Nordic societies and healthcare systems. It contains a brief literature review, a summary of best practices of patient safety education, and a review of patient safety education in the Nordics. In addition, it presents eight joint position statements from the participating Nordic authorities. For 15 patient safety competence areas, key components and descriptions are provided. The report can be used in all Nordic countries as a tool for planning and evaluating basic and further education and training of social and healthcare professionals. It encourages sharing experience, good practices, and methods. The report was drafted by a project team of patient safety experts and approved by a steering group of patient safety officials from all Nordic countries

No full textAntimicrobial resistance (commonly known as AMR) is one of the greatest global threats to public and animal health, as well as to food production. AMR is a typical example of a ‘One Health’ problem, where resistant microorganisms or resistance genes are transmitted between humans, animals and plants, often via the environment. The Nordic Ministers for - Health and Social affairs (MR-S), - Environment and Climate (MR-MK), and - Fisheries, Aquaculture, Agriculture, Food and Forestry (MR-FJLS) are now calling for a strengthened Nordic cooperation on Antimicrobial Resistance.
Nordic conference on co-location of marine industries
No full textThe Nordic Conference on Co-location of Marine Industries was held from September 25 to September 26 at Sankt Gertrud Konferens in Malmö. The conference aimed to bring Nordic stakeholders together and facilitate an exchange of ideas as a part of Sweden’s presidency in the Nordic Council of Ministers. The main focus of the conference was offshore renewable energy, fishing, and aquaculture, aiming to highlight opportunities and challenges with increasing demand for sea space and promoting nature-positive solutions for co-location. This report aims to summarize the content that was presented during the conference along with the input that was gathered from the attendees, as well as provide suggestions for future work towards increased coexistence and co-location of marine industries
Integrated strategies for air and climate measures : Reducing emissions of Ammonia Nitrogen and Methane from the agricultural sector in the Nordic countries
No full textThis project addresses the significant impact of ammonia (NH₃), reactive nitrogen (Nr), and methane (CH₄) emissions from the agriculture sector on air pollution and climate change. By analyzing over 300 mitigation measures across the Nordic countries and beyond, it identifies integrated strategies that reduce the effects on both air pollution and climate change simultaneously. These measures can support the Nordic countries to comply with national and international commitments. The project highlights 17 integrated measures—primarily in manure and fertilizer management—capable of reducing both NH₃ and CH₄ emissions. Recommendations include policy enhancements, financial incentives, and improved coordination among agriculture, environment, and climate sectors to achieve sustainable agricultural practices and effective emissions reductions
