    Mediebarometern 2024: Tema sociala medier

    No full text
I Mediebarometern 2024: Tema sociala medier analyseras hur sociala medier används i Sverige i dag.

    No full text

    Budget 2026

    No full text

Civil preparedness in practice: Lessons and insights from Ukraine

    No full text
The full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022 proved a wake-up call for Ukrainians, and transformed civil preparedness from a theoretical concept into a vital survival and resilience practice. This paper examines Ukraine’s civil preparedness, using Lviv as a regional case study. Situated in the safer, western part of the country, the city has become a humanitarian aid hub, and serves as a testing ground for innovative crisis management, community mobilisation and resilience-building strategies. This research highlights the efforts of national and regional authorities. Local governments, universities, businesses and civil society continue to work together to deliver essential services such as energy, healthcare, education, and psychological and physical rehabilitation, while also protecting civilians and internally displaced persons. Key themes include multi-level governance, energy and healthcare adaptability, digital tools (e.g. the Diia platform for alerts and shelter mapping), and the increasing involvement of private business and volunteer networks in crisis management. The study also examines social and psychological resilience, including community-based practices such as “Toloka” and social-communicative strategies involving inspirational members of the community, art therapy and inclusive communication. The situation in Ukraine, and especially in Lviv, shows that effective civil preparedness relies on co-operation, adaptability and trust. These insights offer valuable lessons for the Nordic countries and others seeking to strengthen regional and community crisis resilience

Reliable environmental DNA detection of planktonic biodiversity : Minimum sample volume for DNA metabarcoding

    No full text
Environmental DNA-based detection has become an attractive method for determining biodiversity as it can provide more detailed information than traditional morphology-based approaches. Despite the availability of several guidelines, the workflow for marine environments has yet to be standardised. This complicates the comparison between samples across different monitoring programmes and projects. This project focused on the first step of the workflow – determining and standardising the minimum reliable sample volume needed to detect phytoplankton diversity. A test with four sample volumes (1000, 500, 200, 20 mL) was conducted with samples collected from the Baltic and North Seas and NW Atlantic Ocean. Across the studied samples, 200 mL was identified as a sufficient volume to detect various species. This represents an important first step towards standardising the eDNA-based approach.

Rethinking population shrinkage: Smart adaptation for Nordic municipalities and regions

    No full text
Many Nordic municipalities are experiencing population decline, ageing, and uneven demographic trends, creating challenges for economic sustainability, service provision, and infrastructure development. While growth has traditionally been the policy focus, these shifts require a different approach. Smart adaptation offers a way to rethink resource allocation, adjust services, and foster innovation to build more resilient communities. This policy brief explores how policymakers and planners can develop adaptive strategies to manage demographic change effectively. It highlights key principles of smart adaptation and provides practical insights for national, regional, and local decision-makers
