Reducing and re-using critical raw materials in the Nordics : Evaluation of potential measures for increased resource efficiency and waste prevention
The Critical Raw Materials Act contains regulations aimed at increased waste prevention and re-use of discarded products and materials as a part of a broader strategy to reduce supply risks for critical raw materials (CRM). Through waste prevention and re-use, consumption of a product or material is either avoided or prolonged thereby reducing the need for critical raw materials necessary for additional production. From a set of 90 possible measures to increase waste prevention or reuse for CRM-intensive products and materials, a set of 13 measures are given an extended analysis in this report

Refugee Integration and Governance in the Nordic Baltic Region : Key Findings and Policy Recommendations
A better working life for trans people : Key messages from the Nordic Conference Improving Working Life for Trans People on 23 October 2024
This publication summarises the main messages from a conference on working life conditions for trans people, held in Stockholm on 23 October 2024. The conference was based on the knowledge review ‘Trans People’s Working Life Conditions in the Nordic Region’, published in spring 2024 by Nordic Information on Gender (NIKK). The knowledge review compiles results from previous Nordic studies and provides an overall picture that shows that trans people face particular obstacles in their working lives. Prejudice and poor treatment affect recruitment processes as well as work environments and opportunities for career development, which has concrete impacts, not least on transgender people’s finances. The conference shared knowledge and experiences from research, policy, government agencies, trade unions, employers and civil society organisations
The Nordic Air Pollution workshop 2024 – opportunities forfuture Nordic cooperation
On 7-8 October 2024, the Nordic Working Group for Climate and Air (NKL) organised the Nordic Air Pollution Workshop with the objective to outline future directions and priorities for Nordic cooperation on air pollution. Nordic collaboration under the Nordic Council of Ministers (NCM) has for decades been successful in developing air pollution science and policies input to both the Nordic countries themselves as well as for the UN Air Convention and the European Union. Together with the presentations, the active and constructive discussions at the workshop form the basis for the proposals and conclusions presented in this report. The report has been written by the workshop moderators reflecting the discussions at the workshop. The content does not necessarily reflect the view, opinions or recommendations of Nordic Council of Ministers’.

Nordic Food Alert
The Nordic region's food system remains highly vulnerable to global supply shocks driven by climate change and geopolitical instability. Building on the Karlstad Declaration (June 2024), the Nordic Council of Ministers Secretariat hosted a Food Alert workshop to stress-test the region’s food supply. Co-organized with the Centre for Systems Solutions and Christopher Hegadorn, the exercise brought together experts for a policy simulation exploring cooperation opportunities through fictional crisis scenarios. This report examines the workshop methodology, detailing scenario backgrounds and proposed policy responses. Key findings highlight the need for systematic stress-testing, stronger cross-sector collaboration, and proactive policies to enhance Nordic food security
