PESTLE Analysis of a Seaplane Transport Network in Greece

    No full text
Seaplane operations connect remote areas, promote tourism, and provide unique transportation solutions. After many years of preparations, commercial seaplane operations on a network of 100 water airports and 200 waterways in Greece are about to commence. The network can serve the needs of 1.6 million permanent residents of the Greek islands, the inhabitants of the mainland, and over 35 million annual tourists. This paper aims to conduct a PESTLE (Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Legal, and Environmental) analysis to identify the factors that have delayed operations and those that will affect the success of future operations. As such, 26 factors are examined. It was found that the Greek debt crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic were impediments to operations. The potential of using electric seaplanes is discussed. Recent developments in using drone inspection capabilities for aviation safety are examined. Management strategies for the Etesian winds and other environmental issues are presented. Overall, seaplane operations have enormous potential, while the Greek economic recovery provides favorable conditions for completing the project. The critical issue determining success is executing a multi-faceted business model to ensure seaplane operations’ financial viability. The network can act in synergy with other modes of transportation to help achieve social cohesion, improve tourism services, and foster economic development

Political Violence in America: Turning Point or Flashpoint?

    No full text
The murder of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk reignited an old debate in the United States: Are we approaching a turning point in political violence, or is this simply another flashpoint in a long, uneven history of partisan conflict? Political scientists and commentators appear divided. Some warn of a spiraling wave of tit-for-tat violence, fueled by incendiary rhetoric and amplified by online echo chambers. Others emphasize that such acts are rare, often the work of lone actors rather than coordinated movements, and that the broader public overwhelmingly rejects violence as a political tool. For security professionals, the challenge is not to get swept away in media-driven panic but to cut through the rhetoric and focus on the facts. Political violence like workplace violence follows patterns we have studied, trained for, and know how to interrupt. The actors may gain national headlines, but their behaviors, motives, and pathways to violence remain familiar

    Project Eggroll

    No full text
Trainer aircraft present a unique fuel efficiency issue – the aircraft will almost never fly at its most efficient configuration simply due to the nature of pilot training. Taking this into account, Project Eggroll will be tackling this issue at the beginning of fuel consumption, rather than optimizing aerodynamics, and will be incorporating a hybrid propulsion system in a next-generation trainer aircraft to reduce fuel consumption, noise, and cost for consumer. After filtering through multiple potential configurations for the aircraft and powertrain, the ER-01 trainer aircraft’s final design has been refined to a high wing aircraft with an all-movable horizontal stabilizer, conventional landing gear, and an in-series hybrid powertrain. Optimized for students in both flight and aircraft maintenance science, its design prioritizes high stability, high maneuverability, rough conditions, repetitive landings, simplicity, and safety. Beyond the cockpit, the ER-01 provides a stepping-stone into a future of non-traditional power supply in aviation
