Developing Resiliency Skills of Preschoolers Through Social-Emotional Behavioral Teaching Practices to Buffer Against Trauma and Increase Child Outcomes
Get PDFThis school improvement plan responds to challenges that preschool teachers face with the growing number of young children in their classrooms who have experienced trauma and exhibit serious, highly disruptive, and dangerous behaviors. All children benefit from early learning experiences that are rich in social-emotional learning. Research has shown that students with well developed emotional literacy, problem solving skills, and self-regulation skills have better outcomes into adulthood compared to peers who struggle with these skills. This school improvement plan aims to provide insight and guidance for Early Childhood Educational Programs by providing intentional professional development to build staff capacity for teaching children appropriate social-emotional skills
Jewish Liturgics in Christian Worship: A History of Jewish Festal Liturgics and a Proposed Recession of The Christian Liturgical Year into the Larger Judeo-Christian Calendar
Get PDFThough a Judaic religion, Christianity quickly abandoned many of the ceremonial, festal, and liturgical practices of its parent religion. In this paper I argue this to be primarily due to an Augustinian reading of Torah in the Pauline epistles in which it is seen as a tyrannical force that can be distinguished into moral, ceremonial, and judicial components, only the moral of which must still be observed by Christians. In this paper, I will discuss the historical, cultural, and religious background of several Jewish holidays in advocation of their theological value for the larger Judeo-Christian community. I will also seek to demonstrate the methodological failures of past attempts by Christians to integrate Jewish liturgics into their worship. Finally, I will present principles with which a healthy Christian recession into the larger Judeo-Christian liturgical year might take place for the sake of ecclesial unity, a more biblically faithful Christianity, and healthier inter-faith dialogue between Jews and Christians
Melatonin as Treatment and Prophylaxis for Alzheimer\u27s Disease
Get PDFAlzheimer’s is a very prevalent disease that has no true dependable and effective treatment. Through research and trials melatonin has been seen as a potential therapeutic option for both structural and behavioral changes in Alzheimer’s. Studies have shown low levels of natural melatonin in CSF are a strong indicator of Alzheimer\u27s Disease. This suggests melatonin could be used as a prophylactic measure as well as a treatment for slowing the disease’s neuropathological changes. Results showed that melatonin improves circadian rhythm and sleep quality leading to more effective glymphatic clearing of free radicals, improving cognition, and decreasing behavioral disturbances

Peer Support Breastfeeding Programs
Get PDFResearch and analysis were done between August 2023 - November 2023 to explore the use of peer-support programs for anticipated and active breastfeeding women. Ten research reports were utilized to explore peer-supporting breastfeeding programs\u27 use and potential success. The goal was to determine if peer support breastfeeding programs were impactful on breastfeeding mothers associated with Spencer Hospital. We present the benefits of peer support breastfeeding groups and their influence on maternal perceptions of breastfeeding, maternal confidence in sustaining breastfeeding, and the ability of mothers to achieve their breastfeeding goals
Mousing Around with Bacteriophages: Using Antibodies Raised in BALB/c Mice to Analyze Phages
Get PDFBacteriophages are viruses that infect bacteria and can be used in phage therapy to combat bacterial infections resistant to traditional antibiotics. One current limitation of phage therapy is the lack of understanding about phage genetics and biochemistry. We can learn more about bacteriophages by identifying patterns in their protein structure. In our experiments, we immunized BALB/c mice using whole phage or ~71\u3ekDa proteins extracted from Sbash and Island3. We tail-bled the mice to collect antibodies raised against these phages, then used ELISA assays to detect anti-phage protein antibodies in mouse serum. We are using our antibodies and Western blot analysis to understand biochemical relationships between Island3, Sbash, and several other bacteriophages that infect Mycobacterium smegmatis
