Case Study: A Teaching Tool
The use of case studies in education is an effective teaching method and learning vehicle. This paper introduces a brief history of case study, types of case studies, and the strengths and weaknesses of case studies. This paper indicates that case study based learning promotes learning processes and stimulates students to be a part of the process and focus on the cause-effect relations. This paper concludes that case studies improve cognitive skills of students and have positive impacts on students’ critical thinking and on their effective problem- solving skills
How Eficacy Feel Student Teachers during Pedagogical Practice
Faculty of Education at the University “Alexander Xhuvani” in Elbasan, is primarily aimed “teacher education”. Pedagogical practice is an important component that affects the professional development of student teacher. Eficiency of teachers is an important variable in the development of a teacher. Eficiency is connected with teaching and learning. How eficacy feel student teachers during teaching in pedagogical practice? This study undertakes to answer this question by stating attitude of student teachers in connection with variables of the Teachers’ Sense of Eficacy Scale during teaching in pedagogical practice. This inding may serve to improve the organization and planning of pedagogical practice. In this study participated 92 student teachers whose selection was done randomly. The data were collected through Teachers’ Sense of Eficacy Scale (TSES) short form, an instrument known and developed by Tschannen-Moran, & Woolfolk Hoy (2001). The collected data were analyzed by using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). Descriptive statistics was used to analyze the results of the respondents. Findings showed that as before and after practice, student teachers feel eficacy in the same aspects of teaching. Involving pupils is the aspect in which student teachers feel less eficient

What Impacts the Leverage Ration of the Banks in Albania?
Choosing the right amount of the leverage ratio is not an easy task for a firm as well as for a bank. Various determinants impact this ratio according to the type of business and also the market that it operation. The main aim of this paper is to examine the main determinant of leverage ratio in the Albanian banking system.
To determine the short run impact of the determinant, panel data multi regression model where the dependent variable is the leverage ratio. The internal independent variables are profitability, return on assets, size, tangibility, and tax and dividend payment. The external independent variables are Gross Domestic Product annual growth rate and Inflation Growth Rate. In order to examine the long run relationship between leverage ratio and the independent variable Kao Residual Co-integration Test was conducted.
The main results indicate that the negative relationship if found between leverage ratio and the variable of profitability, tax payment and Inflation rate. While the relationship with other variable was positive. Moreover, leverage ratio has a long run relationship with tax payment, tangibility, GDP growth rate and Inflation rate, as well as with all the independent variable taken together.Epoka Universit
A case study, Bagnoli: a difficult transition
Bagnoli, a neighbourhood on the west outskirts of Naples, has been a typical industrial and working class area for more than eighty years, having put up an important factory district in a wide territory belonging to its seaside zone, where the Ilva-Italsider building, third steel industry centre in Italy, dominated. Since 1993 this huge factory has been definitely closed and its facilities have been phased out. So the large territory has become object of an important conversion and urban requalification project. Between 1995, when the variant Regulation Plan of Naples Municipality was introduced, and 2005, when the Executive Urban Plan was approved, this project has been developing and completing, defining the future of the ex industrial area, according some privileged lines: enhancement of natural and landscape aspects inside the heart of Pozzuoli gulf; recovery and development of the original touristic vocation through the thermal system and bathing restoration. This project opens towards great expectations of transformation and improvement of life and environment quality both for the inhabitants who live there in the neighbourhood and for the whole city. At the same time it has happened a speculation phenomenon through the sale contract concerning buildings and flats by the realties, together with the transfer of many historical inhabitants and the arrival of new people in the neighbourhood. They are attracted by the changing prospective of the area, but they have no relation with the zone and its history. So, during the last twenty years, the neighbourhood identity has been modified. Contemporarily, the soils draining proceeds slowly and among thousands difficulties, while the sea bottom draining isn’t active yet. Today, most of the area is under seizure by judiciary, that found irregularities and defaults in the draining works, realized only for the 65%. The future imagined in the conversion project results, in this way, largely compromised. In this research work we intend to verify how a particular physical-spatial dimension has influenced the social relations and the same identities of the people and their “community”, how we can delineate the perception and the performance of a urban transformation largely failed, and which contribution the citizens of Bagnoli can give to the urban design through their own imaginary and meanings they ascribe to their environment (Lynch 1960). In this sense, the study aim at giving a contribution to the participative practice, that up to now is out of the transition dynamics
Relationship between Albania and Turkey after Free Trade Agreement
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the trade of Albania toward a larger country such as Turkey and to observe how the trade volume has changed after the Free Trade Agreement. A multiple regression model is used to calculate the overall impact of trade. The dependent variable is GDP and the independent variables are total imports and exports in Albania. Data are obtained mostly from the Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) and Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK). The Albanian GDP has been derived from yearly data in order to match the model, during the period of 1990 to 2013. To have a closer view on the significance of trade and compare the periods before and after Free Trade agreement, the data are obtained monthly from 1996M1 to 2015M3. Imports and Exports resulted to have a strong relationship with GDP, therefore proving the economic theory that trade has a direct impact over the economy of the country. Regarding the trade volume between Albania and Turkey, there seemed to be more imports entering in Albania, rather than exports. As expected, the results show once more that after 2006 the overall trade in Albania has increased and along with it the trade between Albania and Turkey has increased too
Political, Economic and Social Challenges of the Balkan Countries in the Process of European Integration
Since the fall of the Berlin Wall all the Balkan countries have turned their
direction toward the EU and NATO. During these two decades there have occurred
very drastic changes in this region. Yugoslavia has been dissolved giving birth to eight
different countries, for some of which the chirurgical “intervention” has been needed.
Albania the country enclosed in the iron cage for five decades has reached a
previously unbelievable place in the international arena with its NATO membership in
April 2009. Romania and Bulgaria within one and half decades of the fall of the
Communism in Eastern Europe, realized their NATO and EU membership dreams.
Turkey, the biggest country within the region and a senior NATO member, has
long been seeking EU membership gates by undertaking reforms. Greece, as the oldest
EU member in the region, has played a very decisive role in the integration process of
the region.
Balkan nationalism and intrastate conflicts which have been always present in
this region, have slowed down the process of integration. Corruption and governance
deficits, although in decrease, have been other factors hindering the way to EU
membership.
In these developments Epoka University, in cooperation with Istanbul
University, organized the Second International Conference on European Studies to
assist the continuing processes towards integration and to bring solutions or suggestions
to several problematic issues facing the Balkan countries.
It is my hope that the articles in the ICES`09 Proceedings will help further this
goal.BANKA KOMBETARE TREGTARE, EAGLE MOBILE, ALBTELECO
Albanian Society in Post communism: “Fear society” or “Free society”
In general a free society is associated with the preservation of the liberties. In contrast, a fear society is a society that the liberties exist in paper, in which dissent is banned. In a free society we can find effective democracy, in a fear society we can’t find this. The concept of effective democracy is related to the possibility that within a country to really function and strengthen the rights of the ordinary citizen, his voice in decision, his role in governance and his treatment as an equal and important. But the simple fact that there are elections where citizens decide and choose their government with appropriate programs, does not achieve this goal. Also only the approval of laws that formally establish civil and political rights is not enough to empower citizens. Precisely this makes this study necessary to measure the level of effective democracy in a society, this mean to understand how much power people have and how democracy is fulfilling its mission as "the power of people". We will measure the level of Effective Democracy in Albania in the years 2002-2012. Secondary resources will help us to measure the Effective Democracy Index (EDI) which emerges as sum of Democratic Rights Index (DRI) and Rule of Law Index (RLI) (Alexander, Inglehart, Welzel, 2012). Then we will try to explain the situation of the Albanian society nowadays, is that a fear society or a free society. Analysis of these data will help us to understand better what kind of society we have, the problems that we can be face and some predictions for the future
Explaining Total Revenue in terms of CapEx, Current Expenditure and VAT; Albanian Case
Total Revenue is an important indicator of the economic well being of a particular country. As it is known government has revenue either by the taxes it collects from society or by the investments it undertakes. This paper is interested in studying the total revenue component for government and some of the factors that affect it. The factors chosen in this paper are capital expenditure, current expenditure and VAT (value added tax). The factors chosen here are a combination of investment from government (including capital and current expenditure) and tax collection (including VAT), which as stated before are the most important components for a governments total revenue. This paper is especially interested in the Albanian case and the interrelation among the total revenue and the other three factors based on time series econometric model. As a consequence it will be based more on econometrics, but without leaving behind the economic interpretation of the results. It will be important to measure whether these factors have a positive or negative impact in the total revenue; whether their impact is statistically significant or not and whether they are sufficient indicators to determine the actual values of total revenue.
After taking into consideration all these econometric factors, an economic analysis will be
applied; by comparing the expectation the economic theory has and the actual results of the econometric model, and by this way will be determined the validity of the model
