    Book Description: This collection celebrates emerging scholars in Indigenous studies, featuring student essays that explore Indigenous justice, ethics, and environmental justice, while highlighting a decade of collaboration with RAVEN, a legal defence organization. Named after the Respecting Aboriginal Values and Environmental Needs (RAVEN) nonprofit organization, The RAVEN Essays is an anthology that celebrates a decade of prize-winning student essays. Since 2012, RAVEN has awarded an annual essay prize to honour students who champion the vital importance of Indigenous rights and self-determination, both in Canada and globally. The essays featured in this collection highlight exceptional student work while reflecting on the evolving relationship between Indigenous politics and academia. From issues like fishing rights and the Trans Mountain Pipeline to challenges of sexism and conservation policy, these essays capture a transformative period in Indigenous struggles, offering insights that resonate far beyond the Canadian settler state. The anthology also includes contributions from prominent scholars such as Glen Coulthard, Dara Culhane, Michael Fabris, Sarah Hunt, and Heather Dorries. Five complementary essays explore various aspects of structural change, institutional constraints, and broader commitments to Indigenous knowledge within university settings.     CEO social media activity and insider trading

    This article studies the relationship between CEOs\u27 social media activity and their insider trading behavior. Drawing on psychological evidence linking online activity to risk-taking, we find that active CEOs on social media exhibit higher risk preferences and engage more in insider trading—particularly in terms of incidence, intensity, and profitability. The effects are primarily driven by insider buys (rather than sells), which are more likely to involve material non-public information, and such opportunistic trades may increase firm reputational risk. Further analysis reveals that certain corporate governance mechanisms, such as blackout policies and compensation structures, help mitigate the negative impact. © 2025 The Author(s).     Multisite Open Pilot Trial of a Resilience Intervention for Caregivers of Patients with Severe Acute Brain Injury: The Coma Family Program

    Background: Family caregivers of patients with severe acute brain injury (SABI) often experience chronic emotional distress and lack evidence-based psychosocial treatments. To address this problem, we followed the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Stage Model to develop and pilot the Coma Family Program (COMA-F), a resilience intervention for caregivers of patients with SABI. Methods: We conducted a single-arm open pilot clinical trial of COMA-F between February 2024 and February 2025 at three geographically diverse hospitals to test preliminary feasibility and acceptability and to refine the intervention prior to a larger randomized controlled trial (RCT) (NIH stage 1a). Caregivers endorsed elevated distress on the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), and patients suffered coma for ≥ 24 hours and were committed to tracheostomy and/or gastrostomy. COMA-F involved six sessions focused on building mindfulness and coping skills for managing distress. Primary outcomes were: feasibility of recruitment, feasibility of assessments, adherence, therapist fidelity, satisfaction, credibility, and expectancy. Caregivers completed pretest and posttest measures of distress (HADS) and treatment mechanisms (dispositional mindfulness [Cognitive and Affective Mindfulness Scale-Revised], applied mindfulness [Applied Mindfulness Process Scale], coping [Measure of Current Status A]) and exit interviews to provide feedback. We calculated frequencies and proportions of feasibility and acceptability metrics, examined pretest and posttest changes on quantitative measures, and performed explanatory-sequential mixed methods to integrate the quantitative and qualitative data. Results: We screened 36 caregivers and enrolled 20. COMA-F exceeded feasibility and acceptability benchmarks (≥ 70% on all) and showed improvements in emotional distress, dispositional mindfulness, and coping, with large effect sizes (Cohen’s d = 0.8–1.95, p \u3c 0.01). Mixed methods confirmed feasibility, acceptability, and utility of program skills in improving distress. Conclusions: Results support preliminary feasibility and acceptability of COMA-F and further testing in a larger RCT (NIH stage 2).     An All-O-Donor Family of Mn(II) and Mn(III) Complexes with Perfluorinated Alkoxide Ligands

    Complexes of Mn with exclusively O-donor ligands are quite rare. Herein are five new Mn complexes supported by perfluoropinacolate (pinF)2–or perfluoro-tert-butoxide (OC4F9)1–ligands: Me4N[Mn(OH2)(pinF)2]·MeOH·H2O, 1·MeOH·H2O; K(18C6)[Mn(THF)(pinF)2]·2 THF, 2·2 THF; K4[Mn2(μ2-CO3)(pinF)4]·4 H2O· MTBE (methyl t-butyl ether), 3·4 H2O· MTBE; K2[Mn(O2CtBu)(pinF)2]·2 MTBE, 4·2 MTBE; K2[Mn(O2CH)(pinF)2]·MTBE, 5·2 MTBE; and K(18C6)[Mn(OC4F9)3], 6. These compounds have been characterized by UV–vis spectroscopy, the Evans method for magnetic susceptibility, and SCXRD. Compounds 1–3 and 5 have been characterized by high-field EPR (HFEPR), along with the previously reported K[Mn(OH2)(pinF)2], 7, K2[Mn(OAc)(pinF)2], 8, and K(18C6)[Mn(pinF)2], 10. Complex 3 was characterized by variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility (SQUID) measurements. Complex 4 is formed from the nucleophilic attack of the previously reported {Mn(III)OH} complex K2[Mn(OH)(pinF)2]·3 MTBE, 9, on pivaloyl chloride (tBuC(O)Cl). This reactivity represents the first example of a nucleophilic attack by a structurally characterized {Mn(III)OH} complex. Electronic structure calculations corroborate the high-spin assignments for Mn(III) complexes 2, 5, 7–10, and were used to assign transitions in each electronic absorption spectrum. Excellently resolved HFEPR spectra were observed for 2, and 5 - 10, allowing accurate determination of the spin Hamiltonian parameters. Crystallographically independent molecules could be resolved in 7 and 8. Solvent loss in powder samples of 2 and 5 was evident in HFEPR. © 2025 American Chemical Societ
