Strategic planning for a SME
The purpose of this research is to find competitive advantages for an organisation and prepare a long-term strategic planning for the SME. In a New Zealand context, small business enterprises play vital roles in business and the economic sector. However, most small business do not have specific competitive advantage and long-term strategies to compete in the market. Both qualitative and quantitative approaches have been used as mixed method research. Interviews and surveys have been done. Using those methods, researchers are intended to use the most effective implementation methodology to find out the best solution to the problem and cause of a SME. Location and customer satisfaction have been identified as the prime factors for the firm to run the business successfully. The business has been operating smoothly without using any further strategies to compete in the market. Recommendations involve pricing, advertising and stock management
In a space capsule of the mind - part 2
Performance at Wallace Gallery.
Again, drawing inspiration from the music created for the 'Where We Overlap' project, Megan Rogerson-Berry, Kent Macpherson and Jeremy Mayall perform a live ambient sound work. This is a separate, but related companion piece to 'part 1'. As this research output relies on the traditions of improvisational music, each performance presents a unique and original composition.
This piece utilises monophonic synthesizers with vocal processing and cutting edge gestural multi-timbral keyboard instruments to create an atmospheric soundscape.
Drawing upon the practice-based traditions of improvised music, and electronic musical composition/production the boundaries between composer/performer and instrument are blurred

Japanese textbooks, the New Zealand tertiary sector and a discourse-based approach to teaching: Old business as usual.
Over the past few decades, published research in discourse analysis (DA) has grown rapidly, and has yielded insights that could usefully inform the teaching and learning of languages. In this paper, we report on the results of an analysis of the most popular Japanese language learning textbook series used in the New Zealand tertiary sector in terms of the extent to which the series can be shown to have been influenced by aspects of discourse analysis research.
In the initial findings reported in this paper, there appears to be almost no sign of the influence of DA research into the development of the Genki textbook series (Banno, Ikeda, Ohno, Shinagawa & Tokashiki, 2011). One of the main issues evident is the cognitive overload of grammatical structures in each chapter. In view of the prevalence of the use of this textbook series in the New Zealand tertiary context and the lack of implementation of current language cognition research in Japanese language learning, we believe these issues are worth exploring

Molecular epidemiology of multi- and extensively-drug-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis in Ireland, 2001–2014
Objectives: The primary objective of this work was to examine the acquisition and spread of multi-drug resistant (MDR) tuberculosis (TB) in Ireland.
Methods: All available Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTBC) isolates (n = 42), from MDR-TB cases diagnosed in Ireland between 2001 and 2014, were analysed using phenotypic drug-susceptibility testing, Mycobacterial-Interspersed-Repetitive-Units Variable-Number Tandem-
Repeat (MIRU-VNTR) genotyping, and whole-genome sequencing (WGS).
Results: The lineage distribution of the MDR-TB isolates comprised 54.7% Euro-American, 33.3% East Asian, 7.2% East African Indian, and 4.8% Indo-Oceanic. A significant association was identified between the East Asian Beijing sub-lineage and the relative risk of an isolate being MDR. Over 75% of MDR-TB cases were confirmed in non-Irish born individuals and 7 MIRU-VNTR genotypes were identical to clusters in other European countries indicating cross-border spread of MDR-TB to Ireland. WGS data provided the first evidence in Ireland of in vivo microevolution of MTBC isolates from drug-susceptible to MDR, and from MDR to extensively-drug resistant (XDR). In addition, they found that the katG S315T isoniazid and rpoB S450

Three esteemed artists combine their talent and creativity in this spellbinding centrepiece for WOMAD.
Renowned projection artist Tim Gruchy teams up with musicians and composers Horomona Horo and Jeremy Mayall to create an ethereal and ever-changing digital artwork, set to a thrilling and unique soundscape.
This delightful work brings to life a tree at the centre of the WOMAD site, creating the perfect showcase of these three artistic stars.
Colour, beauty, sounds, and images intertwine and morph into an exciting display for night time festival goers to enjoy.
For this project Tim draws his inspiration from Taranaki’s narrative and Aotearoa’s landscape, while Horomona and Jeremy’s soundscape explores the exquisite sounds of traditional instruments used by Māori, known as taonga puoro, paired with otherworldly electronic textures.
TIM GRUCHY
Welsh-born New Zealand-based artist Tim Gruchy has spent more than 30 years exploring interactive multimedia through installation, music and performance.
He has exhibited multimedia works, photography, video, music and performance in Africa, Australia, New Zealand, China, Taiwan, Holland, Belgium, UK, USA, Japan, France and Thailand.
HOROMONA HORO
Horomona is a composer, practitioner and cross genre collaborator, who fuses the traditional instruments of the Māori with a diverse range of cultural and musical forms.
The award-winning artist spent many years being mentored by tohunga (experts) of taonga puoro, and has represented New Zealand music in Europe, Asia, South America and Oceania.
JEREMY MAYALL
Dr Jeremy Mayall is a composer, producer, performer and multi-sensory artist. He works in music, sound art and multimedia formats with a focus on exploring sound, time, space, the senses and human experience.

Revisiting the conclusion instability issue in software effort estimation
Conclusion instability is the absence of observing the same effect under varying experimental conditions. Deep Neural Network (DNN) and ElasticNet software effort estimation (SEE) models were applied to two SEE datasets with the view of resolving the conclusion instability issue and assessing the suitability of ElasticNet as a viable SEE benchmark model. Results were mixed as both model types attain conclusion stability for the Kitchenham dataset whilst conclusion instability existed in the Desharnais dataset. ElasticNet was outperformed by DNN and as such it is not recommended to be used as a SEE benchmark model
