For attracting consumers and increasing their purchase intentions, brand awareness is important as it increases knowledge of product offerings and other associated characteristics amongst consumers. The main intent of this research project is to study different ways in which local pizza stores in New Zealand can increase their brand awareness. For accomplishing this purpose, the research project will include a mixed approach where both qualitative and quantitative research methods have been opted. The qualitative method includes an in-depth interview with the manager of the fast food outlet, while the quantitative method includes utilization of survey questionnaires for attaining required information. As far as structure of the research project report is concerned, it will mainly include background of the research, aim and scope of the research, literature review, research methodology, and analysis of the attained data, collected from pie charts and bar graphs. Recommendations include that local pizza stores should exploit social media channels for increasing brand and product awareness

Risk identification of events
Get PDFThe three-factors of risk identification, risk control, and health and safety play a significant role in every event in three different areas (pre, during and post event). This research examines the importance of three factors at an organisation. This research focuses on the methods used by the organisation to analyse and control risk by observing health and safety aspects in India. The techniques applied for this research are the primary research method and qualitative method. The study was conducted through an interview. One employee from the organisation was interviewed. The results show that the organisation uses different types of models such as the Goldblatt Event Management Process, Heron's model (Feedback using DESC model), Dewey's model (problem-solving method process) and Kotter's 8 step change model, to analyse the risk. In addition to this, the organisation also uses an applied implementation approach method to identify and control the risk. The research recommends the organisation to run a trial event before executing the function to determine the risk, and that they allocate a dedicated team to cover the health and safety aspect. The research concludes that an organisation manages the responsibility by using 3P's (Policy, Process and Procedure) method

The objectives were to identify time management problems, find appropriate solutions relating to issues, design a method to implement the solutions, and recommend the use of more sophisticated machinery and chemicals. Theoretical review used to analyse problems. Qualitative method was used to collect data. Data was gathered through a semi-structured interview with the company’s operations manager. The interview data showed solutions and recommendations for problems facing the organisation, which include scheduled operations time, following the Health and Safety Act 2015, ensuring customer satisfaction, conducting training and inductions programmes for new employees, and recommending sophisticated machinery and chemicals. The recommendations are to follow the operations schedule table and to invest in the latest machinery for heavy-duty operations
Facilitating academic words learning: a data-driven approach using a collocation consultation system built from open access research papers
Get PDFIt is essential and beneficial for ESP students to master collocations of a set of core academic words. Corpus analysis tools (e.g. concordancers) have been widely used in facilitating collocation learning, and promising results have been demonstrated in the literature. This paper presents a learner friendly collocation consultation system built from 50,000 open access research papers made available by CORE (https://core.ac.uk/). The research papers are grouped into four disciplines: Arts and Humanities, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences and Social Sciences. From these articles, useful syntactic-based word combinations (e.g., verb+noun, noun+noun, adjective+noun) are extracted, organized by syntactic patterns, sorted by frequency, and linked to their context sentences. Learners can search collocations and look up the usage of an academic word in any of these four disciplines by simply entering the word or selecting it from one of pre-compiled academic word lists. The paper will also show how the system was used in an initial study carried out with 15 international students studying computer science at University of Waikato, New Zealand

Using low level light, projection and sound, Afterburner awaken the possibilities of the unseen, imagining realms beyond sight, just on the verge of seeing. Dark Matter is a visual experience changing how we might see space and light as well as challenging the senses to enter into the experience.
Afterburner comprises of longterm founder and award winning lighting designer Martyn Roberts, joined by Jeremy Mayall (sound) and dancers Katherine Kennedy and Megan Wilson. Afterburner have created installations and theatre since 2001 in Wellington, Dunedin and globally. Each project is unique with different artists coming together for each event. Dark Matter will be Afterburner's 10th project

Mortality rate of NCD in NZ is 89% of all deaths. Healthcare cost per person in NZ is 30750, This is 11% of the GDP. In 2012 that was only $3721 pp per year. In 2012 NZ had the 2nd highest proportion of obesity in the world at 26.5% with the US being number one at 33.8%. NZ has the second lowest rate of knee replacements at 102/100000 and hip replacements at 149/100000 with Germany topping the list at 213/100000 and 296/100000 respectively, this could be due to the positive effect physios have had or that in general the DHB's try to avoid the surgeries? According to the WHO New Zealanders mortality rate for raised blood pressure is 21.6% and obesity 28.3%, In 2006, New Zealanders sustained health losses totalling almost one million years ofhealthy life (955,000 DALYs). Just over half (51%) ofthis total health loss resulted from fatal outcomes, with non-fatal outcomes accounting for 49%. Adjusting for age and population size, health loss in Mäori was almost times higher than in non-Mäori, with more than half of Mäori health loss occurring before middle age. If Mäori had experienced similar rates of health loss to non-Mäori at all ages, health loss among Mäori would have been 42% less and that of the whole population 7% less. Total DALYs lost are projected to increase from 955,000 in 2006 to 1.085 million in 2016, a rise of 13-4%. This assumes a continuation of recent demographic trends (population and ageing) and epidemiological trends (disease and injury incidence and mortality). Prorcted increases in population size and ageing explain 80% of this trend, with epidemiological changes explaining the remaining 20%
Promoting learner autonomy through a “5-i” show project in large EFL classes: Strategies and challenges
Get PDFProject-based learning (PBL) has been believed beneficial for learner autonomy in that it requires learners to actively participate and take responsibility in the learning process. While interest and research in PBL is growing, few empirical studies have been found investigating the application of PBL in China, and fewer have explored large EFL classes in tertiary institutions. This presentation reports on a longitudinal study of promoting learner autonomy through a 5i (intriguing, informing, involving, interactive, and inspiring) Show project.
The study is conducted over an academic year in a Chinese university with six large non-English major classes (approximately 80 students in each). It is currently in progress and to be completed in August, 2018. With preliminary findings from a questionnaire conducted among a larger number of students, data for this study is collected through a follow-up questionnaire and semi-structured interviews.
The presentation will report in greater detail on the project in relation to its design and classroom operation, including the strategies adopted by the teachers, students’ receptiveness, achievements and perceptions, as well as challenges encountered by both the participating teachers and students. It is hoped that the project can have practical implications for both classroom teachers utilising PBL in similar contexts and researchers for further exploration in this area
