Green human resource management: An organisational strategy for Greening employees
Global warming is a reality. Organisations realise their corporate responsibility to conduct their business with the 'future' in mind. Further, organisations realise that going green is a smart organisational strategy (Mandip, 2012). Sustainability is having a green conscience and ensuring the steps you take today do not have a negative impact on the future. Green Human Resources Management is to promote the sustainable use of resources within business organisations (Mandip, 2012). The aim of this research is to provide an organisation, with a green human resource management strategy (GHRM). A qualitative research approach was followed and five participants interviewed. The researcher followed this approach to gain an in-depth understanding of business eco-friendly practices, and to ascertain if the organisation utilises human resources to drive “green” in the organisation to engage employees. The study found that most organisations have implemented some eco-friendly practice and know the value of becoming a 'green' employer. However, the researcher identified a significant gap in that organisations are not aware of through a lack of knowledge how to utilise human resource practices to obtain staff engagement in green policies and procedure. The researcher has developed various ideas and recommendations to business on how human resource practices can be utilised to go green and engage staff. An example of a key recommendation would be to ensure the employer make themselves known to the public and future employees as a green employer. This is a strategic move and can be accomplished by taking part in green initiatives in the community, hosting green workshops, confirming green involvement on the company website and recruiting employees that are already environmental conscience

Reducing health inequalities and achieving health equity for Māori will depend on a better understanding of the science of implementation.
We will develop communication and engagement strategies that improve the uptake and implementation of prevention and treatment programmes, with the aim of providing patient-centred, culturally effective care and interventions within culturally diverse health care settings.
As well as improving health, the research will lead to a greater understanding of how to harness community involvement, i.e. Activating Communities, so that interventions are more readily adopted

Artists in the Waikato and the Chinese city Chengdu create a major new exhibition of modern art.
Hosted by the Wallace Gallery in Morrinsville and titled Shift, the exhibition will feature the work of 11 artists affiliated with Wintec's School of Media Arts and seven from the Blue Roof Art Museum in Chengdu.
Curated by Wallace Gallery's Eliza Webster and Ding Fenqi from the Blue Roof Museum. The artists taking part include Tim Croucher, Gareth Williams, Mark Purdom, Xavier Meade, Geoffrey Clarke, Paul Nelson, Stef Young, Tony Nicholls, Dan Inglis, Tracey Stockley-Smith, Jeremy Mayall and Kent Macpherson. The Chinese artists include Tong Wenmin, Zhou Bin, Wang Yangxin, He Liping, Pu Ynun, Qiu Wenqing and Zhang Jin.
Shift deals with themes of place and space and the way these concepts can be altered with a simple change in direction, position or tendency. The artists were each in their own way exploring these ideas with works that engaged the senses by utilising sight, sound and movement.

Composition of New Zealand themed choral work 'Summer Christmas'
'Summer Christmas’ (dur. 6:20) with music and lyrics composed by Wayne Senior, speaks in evocative settings of things relevant to New Zealand referencing beach scenes, the warmth of the summer sun, native birds, the mighty Kauri and ‘our very own Christmas tree’ the iconic Pohutukawa, whilst drawing comparisons with winter Christmas in ‘cooler climes’ (e.g. 'no chestnuts roasting on an open fire’ and a new setting of ‘O Magnum Mysterium’) closing with a choral representation of church bells.
My original text is a combination of English, Te reo Māori and Latin, incorporating translations by Honi Rawhiti (George Lusty). The setting of ‘O Magnum Mysterium’ is in Latin with alternating lines in English and Te Reo Māori.
Scored for choir and piano, it is envisioned that an enhanced accompaniment will be added for possible future performances with orchestral resources if and when required.
Also that it will be re-scored in other versions for young students' choir and a less advanced version for community choir

This work is inspired by ideas of kinetic sculpture, science, and sound diffusion. Through representing colour in a somewhat synaesthetic manner, there is a visual representation of how sound may begin to emerge from the instrument - through the vibration of the strings.
This work is an interpretation of sound waves, which allows them to be visualised through movement of the yarn.
Hold down the sustain pedal (the right hand pedal) and the dampers of the piano are lifted allowing the resonance of the strings to sing for the natural decay of the vibrations after the strings are hit with the hammers. This resonance also allows the yarn installation to move sympathetically with the vibration of the string.
Repeat key presses with a steady pulse and enough amplitude and the yarn will really begin to demonstrate the way waves travel on a string. The sustain pedal was invented in 1844, and is a tool which allows this installation to work, really transformed the way a piano would be played and how composers were able to explore the sound that occurs after the initial attack of the notes - to make the most of sympathetic resonance, and everything that is possibly with the inter-relationships of sound.

Emergence of Vancomycin-Resistant Enterococcus faecium at an Australian Hospital: A Whole Genome Sequencing Analysis
In 2015, a marked increase in vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium (VREfm) isolation was
detected at the Royal Hobart Hospital, Australia. The primary objective of this work was to examine the dynamics of VREfm transmission using whole genome data mapped to public health surveillance information. Screening and clinical isolates of VREfm from patients were typed for the specific vancomycin-resistance locus present. Of total isolates collected from 2014–2016 (n = 222), 15.3% and 84.7% harboured either the vanA or the vanB vancomycin-resistance locus, respectively. Whole genome sequencing of 80 isolates was performed in conjunction with single-nucleotide polymorphic
(SNP) analysis and in silico multi-locus sequence typing (MLST). Among the isolates sequenced, 5
phylogenetic clades were identified. The largest vanB clade belonged to MLST sequence type ST796
and contained clinical isolates from VREfm infections that clustered closely with isolates from colonised
patients. Correlation of VREfm genotypes with spatio-temporal patient movements detected potential
points of transmission within the hospital. ST80 emerged as the major vanA sequence type for which
the most likely index case of a patient cluster was ascertained from SNP analyses. This work has
identified the dominant clones associated with increased VREfm prevalence in a healthcare setting, and
their likely direction of transmission
Molecular epidemiology of tuberculosis in Tasmania and genomic characterisation of its first known multi-drug resistant case
Background
The origin and spread of tuberculosis (TB) in Tasmania and the types of strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTBC) present in the population are largely unknown.
Objective
The aim of this study was to perform the first genomic analysis of MTBC isolates from Tasmania to better understand the epidemiology of TB in the state.
Methods
Whole-genome sequencing was performed on cultured isolates of MTBC collected from 2014-2016. Single-locus variant analysis was applied to determine the phylogeny of the isolates and the presence of drug-resistance mutations. The genomic data were then cross-referenced against public health surveillance records on each of the cases.
Results
We determined that 83.3% of TB cases in Tasmania from 2014±2016 occurred in non-Australian born individuals. Two possible TB clusters were identified based on single locus variant analysis, one from November-December 2014 (n = 2), with the second from May-August 2015 (n = 4). We report here the first known isolate of multi-drug resistant (MDR) M. tuberculosis in Tasmania from 2016 for which we established its drug resistance mutations and potential overseas origin. In addition, we characterised a case of M. bovis TB in a Tasmanian-born person who presented in 2014, approximately 40 years after the last confirmed case in the state's bovids
Automatically augmenting academic text for language learning: PhD abstract corpora with the British library
This chapter describes the automated FLAX language system (flax.nzdl.org) that extracts salient linguistic
features from academic text and presents them in an interface designed for L2 students who are learning
academic writing. Typical lexico-grammatical features of any word or phrase, collocations, and lexical
bundles are automatically identified and extracted in a corpus; learners can explore them by searching
and browsing, and inspect them along with contextual information. This chapter uses a single running
example, the PhD abstracts corpus of 9.8 million words derived from the open access Electronic Theses
Online Service (EThOS) at the British Library, but the approach is fully automated and can be applied to
any collection of English writing. Implications for reusing open access publications for non-commercial
educational and research purposes are presented for discussion. Design considerations for developing
teaching and learning applications that focus on the rhetorical and lexico-grammatical patterns found
in the abstract genre are also discussed
