A dawn spark
Hamilton-based multimedia ensemble DR. MESMER’S PRIVATE ARMY (Jeremy Mayall, Kent Macpherson, Yotam Levy, and Paul Bradley) will be bring their intricate tapestries of sound and visuals to Creative Waikato for SPARK 2017.
Their collective approach to performance really exists in the colour of sound, the magic of the moment where, inspired by space and time, fleeting ideas can create new compositions based around musical fragments and field recordings.
Through the compositional processes developed in through long-form improvisational practice, the participants have drawn upon the phenomenology of sound (and the nature of hearing being less concerned to distinguish fantasy and reality than sight) to create a performance (and final concert video) that matches the sound-making process with visual projections that also explore the boundaries between illusion and reality

A nursing conference is an opportunity to meet others within speciality to network and to learn the latest clinical information. It is an opportunity no nurse should overlook. I’ve always embraced the opportunity to attend nursing conferences and have made a point to encourage others to attend whenever the opportunity arises.
Nursing conferences allow nurses of all levels of experience to participate in an area of career and education growth that is not easily found within the structure of the workplace. Some nurses, especially those working at the bedside, may not see the significance of attending a conference
Competition V Connectivity in the Market Place.
Continued improvement in the tertiary education system is in many ways linked to decreasing financial input from the Government since disbanding the free education funding model in New Zealand. The other contributing factor being withdrawal of core funding allocations from our national research organisations to compete in the contestable funding process. This being detrimental to Academics with highly theoretical research interests or emerging researchers as they now compete for funding with professional researchers while balancing full-time teaching.
Recent changes to research funding mechanisms have seen areas of national significance and key growth areas targeted by long term financial commitments by the government. These resources are based on the provision that Academic, Institutional and Commercial Collaborations are the main project drivers.
This presentation will undertake to identify how Academic freedom, Institutional identity and Commercial sensitivities might be managed to enable successful and ongoing collaborations

IASPM Journal, Vol 7, No 1 (2017) Pop Life: The Popular Music Biopic
Examining biopics of popular music artists, this special issue raises questions regarding the genealogy of the genre, authenticity, remediation, identity, authorship and stardom. Jonathan Stewart, Benjamin Halligan and Liam Maloy address verisimilitude in the production processes of Joy Division biopic Control (2007), and Telstar: The Joe Meek Story (2008); Maurizio Corbella focuses on the remediation of historic live performances in The Buddy Holly Story (1978), Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line (2005) and James Brown biopic Get On Up (2014); Ewa Mazierska shows how 1980s Polish filmmakers and the band Maanam reinterpreted the music biopic genre; Bridget Sutherland and Paul Judge interpret iconic films about American music icons Elvis Presley and Jim Morrison in the light of the Anthropocene; and Marcus O’Dair considers how in I’m Not There (2007) Todd Haynes presents Bob Dylan as a brand that author-izes the film rather than as a unified subject. The review section offers not only book reviews but also a conference review in honor of Peter Wicke

Wild Sonic Blooms - A concert film
'WILD SONIC BLOOMS' is a concert documentary film by Haco, Kent Macpherson, Megan Rogerson-Berry, Paul Bradley and Jeremy Mayall.
This project originated in December 2016 when Haco came from her studio in Osaka, Japan, to School of Media Arts, Wintec to work with some of our staff on a research fellowship. This resulted in many hours of new music recorded, and a live performance at RAMP Gallery.
This concert film is a documentation of that original performance, featuring Haco, Kent, Megan, Jeremy and Paul which has been put together in a stunning video by local filmmaker Dan Inglis.
