REMODEL. WP5. Cable Manipulation Planning Execution Interactive Perception. T5_3. Bimanual Wire And Cable Manipulation. Bimanual Cable Manipulation. Symplectic Integration of DLOs. v0
The dataset contains the data related to the numerical integration of Deformable linear objects (DLOs) such as ropes, cables, and surgical sutures comparing different numerical methods. The main motivation of this work is to enable efficient prediction of the DLO behavior during robotic manipulation. The DLO is modeled by a multivariate dynamic spline, while a symplectic integration method is used to solve the model iteratively by interpolating the DLO shape during the manipulation process. Comparisons between the symplectic, Runge-Kutta, and Zhai integrators are reported in the dataset. The presented results show the capabilities of the symplectic integrator to overcome other integration methods in predicting the DLO behavior. Moreover, the results obtained with different sets of model parameters integrated by means of the symplectic method are reported to show how they influence the DLO behavior estimation.
The data are presented in the publication:

Data Management Plan project ABSTRACTION: Unlocking meaning from experience through language (ERC-2021-STG-101039777)
The DMP is a document that provides details regarding all the research data collected and generated within a project. In particular, it explains the way research data are handled, organized, licensed and made openly available to the public, and how they will be preserved after the project is completed. The DMP also provides motivations when versions or parts of the project research data cannot be openly shared on account of third-party copyright issues, confidentiality or personal data protection requirements, or when open dissemination could jeopardize the project achievements.
The present document comprises the DMP of ABSTRACTION (ERC-2021-STG-101039777), required deliverable at month 6 of the project
Dataset related to VVUQ main activities to assess the credibility of the Bologna Biomechanical Computed Tomography in silico methodology
This dataset contains the details (inputs and outputs) of the main VVUQ activities performed in order to assess the credibility of Bologna Biomechanical Computed Tomography (BBCT)-hip according to ASMEV&V40-2018. BBCT-hip model calculates ARF0, the hip fracture risk upon falling, by modelling a fall to the side. In principle, ARF0 is identified by calculating possible impact forces derived from a fall (through a stochastic mathematical model) and by assessing which of those, exceeding the load to failure (determined through a patient-specific finite element model), lead to a fracture event. More in detail, BBCT-hip uses a stochastic mathematical model to simulate 1,000,000 falls of a body of the height and weight equal to those of the patient, each with initial conditions assigned randomly according to specific probability distributions, and for each of these falls predicts the resulting impact force. In parallel, a patient-specific Finite Element (FE) model of the femur informed by the patient’s QCT data is run 28 times, varying the femur orientation at the impact (femoral impact pose). For each impact pose, the load to failure, i.e. the intensity of the force required to fracture the femur, is computed based on principal strains. The FE model-derived loads to failure inform a reduced-order model (response surface) which allows inferring the magnitude of the load to failure for each possible impact direction at a reasonable computational cost. The surrogate biomarker ARF0 is calculated as the ratio of the number of simulated falls that the model predicts would cause a fracture divided by the total number of simulated falls
