Tradurre la diacronia. Il caso di Afanasij Fet

TRANSLATING DIACHRONY. THE CASE OF AFANASIJ FET • Тhis paper presents a brief analysis of how the poetry of the nineteenth-century author Afanasij Fet has been transferred into Italian, considering three books of his that appeared almost simultaneously in 2012. From the analysis it emerges that all three editors of the books (Alessandro Niero, Pia Dusi, and Stefano Garzonio) elaborated their translations adopting, to varying degrees, strategies of archaization. These strategies can be traced back to three typologies: (i) physiological and personal; (ii) deliberate and conscious; (iii) induced and inadvertent. These typologies take into account various factors such as the will to mark in the target language that Fet belongs to nineteenth century, the personal taste of the translators, the use of metre and/or rhyme in their versions and some particularities of the editions

BILINGUALISM AND TRANSLATION. CREATION OF PARALLEL CORPORA FOR THE ANALYSIS OF LITERARY TRANSLATIONS OF THE KUL’TURNYJ MOST CONTEST • This paper presents the experience of corpus-based analysis of the open access Russian-Italian translations of literary texts by heritage speakers (HS), which was realized on the SE (Sketch Engine) platform to identify the different levels of translation difficulties encountered when comparing the two language systems. While participating as jury member in the Kul'turnyj Most (‘Cultural Bridge’) contest, held in Italy from 2018 to 2021, I gathered very rich material for the creation of parallel corpora. This experience shows that natural translation, which plays a major role in the acquisition of bilingualism, is insufficient for the development of bilingual translation competence. The attention paid to the examination of certain types of translation errors allowed us to trace an outline of the translation weaknesses of HS as natural Russian-Italian translators

    CaSty - Calibrating Stylized Items

    Get PDF
The CaSty.exe program aims to allow you to combine the information collected from the diaries with that from the stylized items in a very simple way, with the limit that both must be completed by each individual detected within a single survey. The data needed to obtain useful statistics are relatively few and the indispensable commands are very simple. Finally, the program provides tables and graphs containing the information typically needed to present a research report or paper. The current version, CaSty.1.0.exe, works only with the Windows operating system

The dataset consists of summaries of the two social policy laboratory (Sopolab) sessions conducted in Paris. The goal of the labs was to engage variety of stakeholders and to trigger a debate on problems, challenges and possible policy solutions related to platform work, including to disseminate PLUS results and to produce shared policy proposals and disseminate best practices. “PLUS_16D_PLUS.WP7 Paris Sopolabs_Labour_20220509” gives an overview of the local level SoPo lab on the topic "Labour Rights and organization in Platform Economy”. Several stakeholders engaged with platform economy were recruited to discuss issues related to labour organization and platform workers’ rights in the context of COVID19 pandemic. “PLUS_16D_PLUS.WP7 Paris Sopolabs_Welfare_20220509” gives an overview of the local level SoPo lab on the topic “How to innovate Welfare for Platform Workers”. It aimed to identify practical initiatives that can be taken to extend welfare and social security coverage for platform workers

The R package tipsae: tools for mapping proportions and indicators on the unit interval

    Get PDF
The tipsae package implements a set of small area estimation tools for mapping proportions and indicators defined on the unit interval. It provides for small area models defined at area level, including the classical Beta regression, Zero and/or One Inflated Beta and Flexible Beta ones, possibly accounting for spatial and/or temporal dependency structures. The models, developed within a Bayesian framework, are estimated through Stan language, allowing fast estimation and customized parallel computing. The additional features of the tipsae package, such as diagnostics, visualization and exporting functions as well as variance smoothing and benchmarking functions, improve the user experience through the entire process of estimation, validation and outcome presentation. A Shiny application with a user-friendly interface further eases the implementation of Bayesian models for small area analysis

REMODEL. WP5. Cable Manipulation Planning, Execution and Interactive Perception. T5-2. Cable grasping. Data related to the validation of DLO Models from Shape Observation

    No full text
These data provide the fitting of the model of deformable linear objects from the observation of the shape under the effect of known external forces like gravity. The model of the deformable linear object is based on dynamic splines, allowing to obtain a reliable prediction of the object behavior while preserving a suitable efficiency and simplicity of the model. The object shape is measured by means of a calibrated vision system, and a fitting between the observed shape and the theoretical model is defined for validation. Experiments are executed in different conditions to investigate the reliability of the proposed spline-based model. The datasets contain data related to the experiments presented in the publication: Palli, G., Pirozzi, S., “Validating DLO models from shape observation” (2021) IEEE/ASME International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics, AIM, 2021-July, pp. 430-435. RGB-MS Dataset

    No full text
We address the problem of registering synchronized color (RGB) and multi-spectral (MS) images featuring very different resolution by solving stereo matching correspondences. Purposely, we introduce a novel RGB-MS dataset framing 13 different scenes in indoor environments and providing a total of 34 image pairs annotated with semi-dense, high-resolution ground-truth labels in the form of disparity maps. To tackle the task, we propose a deep learning architecture trained in a self-supervised manner by exploiting a further RGB camera required only during training data acquisition. In this setup, we can conveniently learn cross-modal matching in the absence of ground-truth labels by distilling knowledge from an easier RGB-RGB matching task based on a collection of about 11K unlabeled image triplets. Experiments show that the proposed pipeline sets a good performance bar (1.16 pixels average registration error) for future research on this novel, challenging task
