Dataset on Water Use Efficiency of Vertical Farms

    No full text
This dataset contains the data of measured and calculated indexes on water use efficiency of lettuce production in a vertical farming system, using either an ebb-and-flow hydroponics or an aeroponic system. WUE values are calculated based on irrigation requirements only, or using irrigation plus accessory water use (e.g., for cleaning trays and air humidification), or also when dehumidification from the cultivation room atmosphere allowed to recover water that was then diverted into the irrigation system. All data were obtained at AlmaVFarm, the experimental vertical farm of the University of Bologna

Efficient liability law when parties genuinely disagree

    Get PDF
This article compares the classic liability rules, negligence and strict liability, under the hypothesis that injurers and victims formulate subjective beliefs about the probabilities of harm. Parties may reasonably disagree in their assessment of the precautionary measures available: a measure regarded as safe by one party may be regarded as not safe by the other. By relying on the notions of Pareto efficiency and "No Betting" Pareto efficiency, the article shows that negligence is the optimal liability rule when injurers believe that the probability of harm is always higher than the victims do, while strict liability with overcompensatory damages is the optimal rule in the opposite case. The same results apply to bilateral accidents and, specifically, to product-related harms in competitive markets. Overcompensatory ("punitive") damages provide consumers with insurance against their own pessimism

    Get PDF

Data from the article "Supplemental LED Lighting Improves Fruit Growth and Yield of Tomato Grown under the Sub-Optimal Lighting Condition of a Building Integrated Rooftop Greenhouse (i-RTG)"

    Get PDF
The metabolism of a building can be connected to a rooftop greenhouse, exchanging energy, water and CO2 flows, therefore reducing emissions and recycling cultivation inputs. However, integrating a rooftop greenhouse onto a building requires the application of stringent safety codes (e.g., fire, seismic codes), to strengthen and secure the structure with safety elements such as thick steel pillars or fireproof covering materials. These elements can shade the vegetation or reduce solar radiation entering the rooftop greenhouse. Nevertheless, application of additional LED light can help to overcome this constraint. The present study evaluated supplemental LED light application in an integrated rooftop greenhouse (i-RTG) at the ICTA-UAB research institute, located in Barcelona (Spain), for tomato cultivation (Solanum lycopersicum cv. Siranzo). The experiment explored the effects of three LED lighting treatments and a control cultivated under natural light only (CK). Applied treatments, added to natural sunlight, were: red and blue (RB), red and blue + far-red (FR) for the whole day, and red and blue + far-red at the end-of-day (EOD), each for 16 h d−1 (8 a.m.–12 a.m.) with an intensity of 170 µmol m−2 s−1. The results indicate that LED light increased the overall yield by 17% compared with CK plants. In particular, CK tomatoes were 9.3% lighter and 7.2% fewer as compared with tomatoes grown under LED treatments. Fruit ripening was also affected, with an increase of 35% red proximal fruit in LED-treated plants. In conclusion, LED light seems to positively affect the development and growth of tomatoes in building integrated agriculture in the Mediterranean area

    La Psicologia Scolastica in Italia

    Get PDF

    No full text
Description The set contains materials produced for a literature review on platform economy implemented in WP2 of PLUS project. First, we extracted main bibliography on 8 keywords for platform economy: (a) Digital labour, (b) Gender platform labour, (c) Gig economy, (d) Platform labour process, (e) Platform, (f) Sharing Economy, (g) Smart City, (h) Urban entrepreneur. The extraction of bibliographies for each keyword has been done with Scopus search engine. For the materials there is the permission to save and print the research contribution for private use, research and teaching, according to Scopus policies. The specificities of the researches can be taken from the search input strings. Then we selected most interesting references to prepare a final overall bibliography

PLUS.WP3 Urban governance models for the platform economy

    Get PDF
The dataset aims to framing the different policies of governance of platform economy at urban level. It includes data related to at least 7 case studies of urban governance of platform economy, one for each of the 7 cities involved in PLUS project (Berlin, Bologna, Barcelona, Lisbon, London, Paris, Tallin). The dataset is composed exclusively from secondary and non-personal data and includes: • open data released on institutional websites of the municipal authorities involved in each case study; • open data released on institutional websites of the other institutions and actors involved in each case study; • Eurostat and OECD open data from online databases; • open data indexes related to the measurement of digital and social innovation, developed by international organizations and available in online databases, such as the EGOV Benchmark, European Digital Social Innovation Index (EDSII) and the Globalization and World Cities (GaWC); • data from existing scientific articles and grey literature (e.g. reports from other research projects
