This dataset contains interviews and walk-along interviews from Trieste collected within the Horizon Europe ERC project “TheGAME” in 2024
INTELLIMAN. WP4. Adaptive shared autonomy. T4_2. Advanced human-robot interaction modalities. ErRP. v0
Error-Related Potentials (ErRPs) in brain activity can provide insight into user intent prediction errors during robot teleoperation. This dataset was collected following a protocol designed to systematically acquire electroencephalography (EEG) signals while participants performed simplified virtual teleoperation and telemanipulation tasks of increasing cognitive load. Artificially induced error trials were included to enable systematic study of error responses. With synchronized triggers and command logs, the dataset enables the analysis of how cognitive load affects the occurrence, amplitude, and timing of ErRPs, supporting research in adaptive human-robot interaction. A preliminary dataset with recordings from 5 subjects is made available to the community. The data were produced in the framework of Horizon Europe INTELLIMAN project
Suicide Among Migrants: A Comparative Study Between Italy and Portugal
Through a definition of the migratory and suicide phenomena within Portuguese and Italian territories, an analysis of the data collected in Italy by Istat and some Portuguese news cases will be carried out to define the dimensions of the phenomenon and to define if the suicide phenomenon is more present among migrants or in the local population. Through a case study, i.e. that of the CPRs and the case of Musa Balde, the causes of suicide among migrants will be better defined, which will allow a proposal of a sociological autopsy to be carried out in the case of migrant suicide in European territory
Three-parameter Multisine Fitting Method for Minimization of the Measurement Time in Online EIS Battery Monitoring
Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) is a widely used technique for characterizing lithium-ion batteries. It provides valuable insights into various physical and chemical processes and can effectively estimate battery state parameters such as the State of Charge (SOC) and the State of Health (SOH) [1]. Recently, significant research has focused on implementing EIS in-situ and in-operando, enabling its use "online" while the battery operates in real-time conditions [2]. Among the various EIS approaches, multisine EIS is particularly promising for online battery characterization, as it reduces measurement time by simultaneously exciting multiple frequency tones [3]. However, further improvements are needed to shorten the measurement time even further without compromising the lower limit of the measurement bandwidth, fmin. This work proposes the usage of a three-parameter fitting method together with multisine excitation for EIS of battery cells instead of standard approaches such as sine-sweep excitation and FFT-based estimation of the frequency components. The proposed method reduces the measurement time to a fraction of 1/fmin and preserves the measurement bandwidth, maintaining the minimum frequency fmin. The method was tested through simulations using a multisine excitation composed of four tones of equal amplitude at random frequencies, combined with additive Gaussian noise resulting in SNR of 30 dB. With all frequency points known a priori, the method estimated the magnitude and phase of the frequency components with less than 0.4% error in magnitude and 4 mrad in phase. These results were obtained with a measurement time of 0.4 s. An even shorter time can be obtained by relaxing the accuracy target or improving the SNR. Thanks to the three-parameter multisine fitting method, it is possible to apply multisine EIS with a measurement time of only 400 ms while capturing information down to 1 Hz, significantly enhancing the feasibility of online battery monitoring and diagnostics
Global Citizenship Education in Iranian Elementary Physical Education: Teachers' Perspectives
This qualitative study explored the integration of Global Citizenship Education (GCE) within Physical Education (PE) curricula in Iranian elementary schools. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with ten PE teachers in Esfahan, Iran, and analyzed using thematic analysis informed by phenomenological principles (van Manen, 2016). Findings revealed limited explicit inclusion of GCE in curricula but showed implicit integration through teachers’ practices such as team sports fostering collaboration and discussions promoting ethical decision-making. Key challenges included resource limitations, cultural barriers, insufficient teacher training, and inadequate administrative support (Keshāvarz et al., 2019; Rezaee et al., 2022). The study highlights the urgent need for culturally sensitive curriculum frameworks and targeted professional development to enhance GCE integration in PE. This research contributes nuanced insights into GCE implementation within diverse cultural contexts, focusing on the Iranian education system (Tarozzi, 2014)
The machines never stop. On the slippery slope of artificial intelligence
The contribution – inspired by Edward Morgan Forster’s dystopian short story The Machine Stops, a reversed ‘myth of the cave’ in which humans voluntarily regress to epistemic automatism – aims to analyse the current relationship between humans and technology by linking the thinking of philosopher Bernard Stiegler with recent studies that have analysed the psycho-cognitive approach of humans towards artificial intelligence systems. Starting from the concepts of the grammatisation of technology and epiphylogenesis, according to which, according to the French philosopher, humanity is undergoing a process of cognitive proletarianisation, we will examine whether the current condition can be reversed through a pharmacological approach or whether we have already embarked on a slippery slope
