European Defence Industry Companies Geolocation 2021-22
This dataset represents the distribution of the European Defence Companies, at the country level.
Note that it relies on companies self-identifying their primary operational domain as the defence sector.
It is discussed in the following paper:
Giacomello, G., & Preka, O. (2023). Sources of strength: mapping the defence sector in Europe. Defence Studies, 23(4), 531–560. https://doi.org/10.1080/14702436.2023.227743
ECLIPSE_WP1_Systems for signal amplification_Task1.6_Optimization of coreactant_Ir
The presented dataset contains data and images produced in the framework of the ECLipse project, regarding the electrochemiluminescence (ECL) of magnetic microbeads covalently functionalized with [Ru(bpy)3](2+) (Ru@Beads), in presence of Ir(III)-based redox mediators exhibiting a variety of photophysical and electrochemical properties. The Ir(III) mediators employed are: [Ir(bt)2(pt-TEG)]+, [Ir(dfppy)2(pt-TEG)]+ and [Ir(sppy)3](3-). Also, data related to [Fe(bpy)3](2+) redox mediator are included. The data are useful to decipher the interaction mechanism between the freely diffusing Ir(III) mediators with the anchored [Ru(bpy)3](2+) labels and determine the key properties of effective ECL enhancers
Estimating the Elasticity of Turnover from Bunching: Preferential Tax Regimes for Solo Self-employed in Italy
Turnover is a key indicator of economic activity, but we know little about how much entrepreneurs adjust it as a response to taxation. This is because business taxation is usually based on profits, rather than turnover. This paper exploits the notch created by the eligibility cut-off of the preferential (turnover) tax regime for solo self-employed in Italy to study turnover responses to taxation. I find that solo self-employed bunch below the turnover threshold to be eligible for the preferential scheme. Effects are different in different sectors, with professionals and business intermediaries showing the largest responses. Then, I estimate the turnover tax elasticity by focusing on the (last) marginal buncher. To do so, I adapt the models of Kleven and Waseem (2013) and Harju et al. (2019) to derive a modified indifference condition that fits the institutional set-up. The baseline estimate for the turnover tax elasticity is 0.072

REMODEL. WP4. Vision-based Perception. T4_4. Functional Components Detection. Wiring Harness Bags Segmentation. v0
The dataset contains the source code files used to generate a synthetic dataset with which train the data-driven model for performing the semantic segmentation of wiring harness bags. The work has been carried out in the context of the Horizon 2020 REMODEL project. Specifically, the method exploits the cut and paste technique for generating a large scale dataset of objects of interest, wiring harness bags in this case, requiring minimal human effort. The foreground images of the bags are combined with background images obtained from different sources. The method is validated performing the semantic segmentation task employing state-of-the-art deep learning models.
The dataset is associated to the following publication:

[Genealogy of contemporary man: the anthropological literature of Italo Calvino] Italo Calvino explores the central themes of his time during the Cold War, which relate to modern man’s peculiar characteristics. Through an epic narrative, philosophical and existential questions are presented magically, while the problems are real and present. With his protagonists from previous eras, Italo Calvino shows something crucial about contemporary man, his neuroses, and his existential problems that are highly dependent on social bonds and legal claims

VertiFarm2024 - Book of Abstracts
Vertical farming, growing plants on multiple layers or upright surfaces, in enclosed climate controlled chambers and supplemented with artificial lighting technologies, is reshaping current agriculture. This revolutionary way of food production may substantially impact our knowledge on plant biology and physiology, cultivation systems and resource use. Beyond the hype toward this new sector, a clear need for successful cooperation between industry and research is pivotal to ensure feasibility and sustainability of the technology.
The International Workshop on Vertical Farming (abbreviated as VertiFarm from its 1st edition, in 2019, followed by a 2nd event in 2023) is a recurring workshop within the portfolio of scientific dissemination and communication events of the International Society for Horticultural Sciences (ISHS), the World's leading independent organization of horticulturists with a network of over 70,000 individuals, universities, governments, institutions, libraries and commercial companies.
At VertiFarm, experts from diversified World regions and with cross-disciplinary backgrounds encounter entrepreneurs, policy makers and investors to exchange on priorities and challenges of the sector. Its mission is to shed light on innovation technologies and pave the way for the future evolution of the sector.
The content of the 3rd International Workshop on Vertical Farming (#VertiFarm2024) are condensed in the following pages, where an effort was made to summarize the many diverse (though all significant) steps research and industry are advancing toward a viable vertical farming sector, ranging from the single technologies to the whole food system approach.
Thematic sessions, business panels, workshop, technical visits and a dense agenda of social and networking events constitute the solid framework of the workshop series, as clearly visible in the agenda of this VertiFarm2024 edition.
We sincerely hope you will enjoy the workshop and look forward to meet and exchange with you in the coming days
