Pace, guerra e democrazia. Carteggio Norberto Bobbio – Daniele Archibugi 1984 – 1999

    Get PDF

    Get PDF
[Toughts on prison and the city starting from the film Ariaferma]. The film Ariaferma serves as a point of reflection on the condition of the prison in the city. Whilst the city is built on relationships, not only does the prison in the city has no relationship with the city, but within the prison, relationships between people are destined to dissolve, too. The prison’s “logic” of separation and segregation can be seen as the negation of the city’s “logic” of relationship. The film Ariaferma moves from this awareness of the prison as the opposite of the city, but its final scene sheds a light on a different reality. Thus, two main legal reflections need to be made. First, punishment does not necessarily mean incarceration: as an extrema ratio, prison and segregation ought to be destined only to violent and serious crime (especially organized crime). Secondly, within the prison itself, more open and humane dynamics should be created, aiming at the model of “prison as a city”

Characterization of in vitro model based on primary culture of human mammary epithelial cells (hMECs).

This data set contains results related to the characterization of an appropriate in vitro model based on human mammary epithelial cells (hMECs). The objective of the research was to verify the accuracy of hMECs as solid translational model for the study of mammary epithelial barrier. The results showed the characterization (morphological data; epithelial markers Epithelial-Cadherin (E-Cad) and Cytokeratin 18 (CK18); gene expression of drugs transporters and doubling Time (DT)), maintaining of hMEC primary culture. The hMECs maintained until P6 showed a typical cobblestone morphology and doubling time data showed a mean value of 36.6 ± 3.25 hours (see data file CONCEPTION_WP3_hMECs_DoublingTime_20240723.csv). The hMEC expressed epithelial markers Epithelial-Cadherin (E-Cad) and Cytokeratin 18 (CK18), confirming their epithelial origin (see data file CONCEPTION_WP3_hMECs_FlowCytometer_20240723.csv). In addition we analyze the gene expression of 84 drugs transporters (by using a commercial kit, RT2) and the Ct value was reported in CONCEPTION_WP3_hMECs_RT2ARRAY_20240723.xlsx) The transcriptional profile of drug transporters showed a differential level of gene expression ranging from ΔCt values (Ct mean reference genes – Ct interest gene) very negative (lower expression) to ΔCt values less negative (higher expression). Only 3 were not detectable (SLC22A9, SCCO1B3 and SLCO1B3). Collectively, the results show that primary culture of hMECs express epithelial cell markers and tight junctions molecule and express the main drug transporters, suggesting that it will be used to study epithelial barrier functions

“Volte di pietra” e “archi rampanti”: architettura, destino e deliberazione morale in Notre-Dame de Paris

[“Stone Vaults” and “Flying Buttresses”: Architecture, destiny and moral reasoning in Notre-Dame de Paris]. In the pages of Notre-Dame de Paris, a tragedy in the form of a novel unfolds. The protagonists are crushed by the impact of fate, causing undeserved pain which they are unable to remedy. The passions that stir them are instruments of destiny, which moves at a decisive pace and determines moral and material catastrophes. Not even art is safe from fate. Architecture can do nothing to counteract the communicative and dissemination potential of Gutenberg’s press. The massive expressive conformation of architecture is replaced by the speed, economy and versatility of the printed book. The presses of Mainz inaugurated the “liquid” (Bauman) or, rather, “volatile” (Hugo) modernity of knowledge

Tradurre l’insulto: «Wen hâstu hie verkebset?». Il litigio tra le regine nel “Nibelungenlied”

The quarrel between the queens in the “Nibelungenlied” is undoubtedly one of the most iconic scenes in Medieval German literature. Here, Kriemhild addresses Brünhilt as a kebse (‘whore’), a lexeme that has sparked much controversy among philologists and translators over the last eighty years. The present contribution deals with the possible translation of this insult into Italian, also considering to which extent previously employed terms are still suitable for the linguistic sensitivity. While considering Laura Mancinelli’s rendering of this expression (“La canzone dei Nibelunghi”, 1972), the author compares four different translations in German, English, French, and Spanish of the lines where the term occurs (Brackert 1970; Edwards 2010; Colleville-Tonnelat 1944; Criado 2005), triggering a debate over the criteria for conveying foul expressions from the Medieval glossa to the contemporary one. He eventually suggests an alternative version that might satisfy both philological rigour and clarity to ensure the text’s enjoyability from the contemporary public

INTELLIMAN. WP4. Adaptive shared autonomy. T4_2. Advanced human-robot interaction modalities. Robotic endoscope. v0

    No full text
The dataset is related to results of two key aspects of endoscope performance: tissue interaction and stiffness variation. Through a series of controlled experiments, the endoscope’s ability to interact with mock biological tissues is assessed, demonstrating successful force application using both agonistonly and antagonistic functioning modalities. Furthermore, the endoscope’s resilience to external disturbances is evaluated, with results showing significant improvements in stiffness and response to perturbations when utilizing antagonistic control. The data were produced in the framework of Horizon Europe INTELLIMAN project and are presented in the publication: E. Fratarcangeli et al., "Additively Manufactured Flexible Endoscope Driven By Guided Antagonistic Twisted String Actuation: A Pilot Experimental Evaluation," 2024 IEEE International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics (AIM), Boston, MA, USA, 2024, pp. 867-872, doi: 10.1109/AIM55361.2024.10637078

    Get PDF

    COVID-19 e ospedale: Riflessioni sull’organizzazione

    Get PDF
In this ebook, we explore the organizational impacts of the COVID-19 health emergency on healthcare facilities and frontline workers through the lens of the Theory of Organizational Action (TAO). Our analysis shows that the pandemic not only disrupted organizational functioning, but it also exposed the often-implicit core logics of these systems. By examining interview protocols that address changes in work processes, practices, and the emotional and relational experiences of workers, we aim to uncover the underlying assumptions guiding their actions. We emphasize the role of emotions, as we believe emotional insights are crucial for reconfiguring concepts and understanding actions that characterize organizational action
