MADFORWATER. WP5 Strategies and economic instruments for basin-scale water resources management. Task5.1 Review and assessment of the use of economic instruments and policies in water management in Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia

    No full text
This dataset includes a review of and compilation of water policies and management approaches and of the use of economic instruments in Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia. Special attention is paid to the adoption of the principles of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), such as the consideration of equity and efficiency issues and the introduction of economic principles in water management. The dataset includes information at the country level sourced from official data sources, public studies and previous research works. An overview of the main water management instruments at disposal for policy makers is included, along with a description of the current state of those instruments in the Mediterranean countries and an assessment of the most suitable ones for tackling the detected challenges. Moreover, for each target country within MADFORWATER project (Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco), a holistic assessment of the legal and institutional background, and the economic and policy instruments that are currently in place has been collected. Finally, the dataset includes a description of the potential needs and gaps detected in terms of the design and implementation for water management policies and economic instruments in Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia

    Get PDF

ROCK. Co-design workshops and self-built transformation of public space in Bologna with students and professionals. Urban regeneration of Piazza Scaravilli. The Utopia Concreta experience

    No full text
The dataset contains the presentation and preparatory materials presented within the co-design workshop, ROCK Talks and self-built transformation of public space “Utopia Concreta”, held in 2018 in Bologna. Specifically, the dataset includes the project of urban regeneration of Piazza Scaravilli based on the previous “Malerbe” experience, co-developed by students and professionals during this workshop. Data collected in this dataset contain project proposals developed in a ROCK Talks and self-built transformation of public space with University of Bologna architecture and design students, University of Bologna researchers, and Municipality of Bologna. Data can be used by both university researchers (as methodology to be replicated in similar workshops) or by city staff to take inspiration for projects to be realized in similar parts of the city

    Aeschylus’ Eumenides and Political Impasse

    Get PDF
What can we do in the face of irreconcilable conflict, when two opposing parties (be they individuals, groups, nations) have disagreements in which there seems to be no common ground, no hope for resolution? Further still, what do we do when both sides of an argument appear to be rational? In this paper, I explore this kind of ‘tragic’ im-passe through the lens of Aeschylus’ Eumenides. This play has been taken by some scholars to be the precursor of the Western legal system (establishing the jury trial and neutral, third-party judge). Others see it less optimistically, as a portrayal of a misogynistic abuse of power. I diverge from these lines of interpretation and suggest that the Eumenides offers a useful approach to disagreement, building on the idea that those bitter struggles that result in impasse can be resolved only through a deliberate reorientation of identity, guided by an engaged judge whose most important actions come after the trial

    Questioni di giustizia

    Get PDF
This book collects contributions on questions of justice. It proposes a reflection on justice observed from different disciplinary perspectives (organization, philosophy, labor law, economics, work psychology) concerning the basic assumptions underlying the research approaches on this topic. Then, the book considers justice in relation to different issues that are widely debated in the social arena (corporate governance, organizational design, well-being, digitalization of work processes, smart working). A critical point of view on the different positions is adopted. We believe that recognizing the specificities of single disciplines and their defining and applicative problems is a fundamental premise in order to face the new challenges that a subject as ancient as justice seems to bring to the forefront of today’s society

PERCEIVE project - Deliverable D2.6 "Report on the influence of perceptions of corruptions and governance on citizen's support for cohesion policy"

    Get PDF
Together with researchers in six other European countries1, we launched an EU-wide survey to investigate how citizens’ feel about cohesion policy in which 17,200 citizens in 15 Eureopan countries were interviewed2. In addition, people were asked a set of questions having to do with knowledge and experience with the EU’s regional policy, along with how much and how one identifies with Europe, political attitudes and perceptions of institution and the economy. We found that less than one-half of all citizens (roughly 45%) have even heard of the policy itself, while roughly one-third claim they have ‘benefitted from some EU project in their area’
