    The availability and sustainability of good quantities and qualities of water supplies for human needs and support development should be warranted, therefore, existing water resources should be managed sustainably. A multidisciplinary rapid appraisal method called multidimensional scaling (MDS) is an approach for a comprehensive analysis of the sustainability statuses of domestic water supplies. This study aims to analyze the index and sustainability status of raw water management from three dimensions of sustainability. The results that were obtained from a specific multidimensional scaling analysis method called Rapid Appraisal for Air Baku (Rapaku) are expressed in the form of indices and sustainability statuses. Based on different dimensions of the sustainability status review, the analysis results showed that Bandung’s domestic raw water was “less sustainable” (42.34%). Of the 35 attributes that were analyzed, there were 13 sensitive attributes that affected the index and sustainability status with a very small error at a 95% confidence level.Krakówwersja wydawnicz

    Electrospun polymer scaffolds have gained prominence in biomedical applications, including tissue engineering, drug delivery, and wound dressings, due to their customizable properties. As the interplay between cells and materials assumes fundamental significance in biomaterials research, understanding the relationship between fiber properties and cell behaviour is imperative. Nevertheless, altering fiber properties introduces complexity by intertwining mechanical and surface chemistry effects, challenging the differentiation of their individual impacts on cell behaviour. Core-shell fibers present an appealing solution, enabling the control of mechanical properties of scaffolds, flexibility in material and drug selection, efficient encapsulation, strong protection of bioactive drugs against harsh environments, and controlled, prolonged drug release. This study addresses a key challenge in core-shell fiber design related to the blending effect between core and shell polymers. Two types of fibers, PMMA and core-shell PC-PMMA, were electrospun, and thorough analyses confirmed the desired core-shell structure in PC-PMMA fibers. Surface chemistry analysis revealed PC diffusion to the PMMA shell of the core-shell fiber during electrospinning, subsequently prompting an investigation of the fiber’s surface potential. Conducting cellular studies on osteoblasts by super-resolution confocal microscopy provided insights into the direct influence of interfacial polymer blending and, consequently, altered fiber surface and mechanical properties on cell focal adhesion points, bridging the gap between material attributes and cell responses in core-shell fibers.postprin

    The problem of the radiological contamination of food products from secondary forest use remains relevant and requires targeted preventive measures, with the contamination being the result of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant disaster. The research was conducted with the aim of comprehensively monitoring the content of radionuclide 137Cs^{137}Cs in forest products (Wild Bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus), Blackberries (Rubus L.), Wild Strawberries (Fragaria vesca L.), Raspberry (Rubus idaeus L.), together with Cantharellus cibarius, Boletus edulis, and Leccinum scabrum mushrooms) of the zone of radioactive contamination of the Kamin-Kashyrskyi district of the Volyn region. Samples were collected in 2020–2022. The total number of samples was 729 dried and 975 fresh mushrooms and berries samples for 2020, 1,154 dried and 886 fresh samples for 2021, and 870 dried and 896 fresh samples for 2022. The results of research indicate that in the specified territory, and at the present moment, forest products are to be found with a significant content of the radionuclide 137Cs^{137}Cs, including those exceeding the permissible levels. There is, therefore, a threat of further internal exposure of the local population via access to procurement points of contaminated products and restaurants. In connection with the detection of these pollutants in forest products in the studied area, further expansion of specialized radioecological monitoring studies and strengthening of radiological control remains relevant.Krakówwersja wydawnicz

    This paper is concerned with the construction of a demonstration kit to illustrate the applications of acoustic resonance-based suppressors in the context of narrowband industrial noise suppression. The kit consists of two main components – a circular waveguide and interchangeable silencer elements inserted into the waveguide channel. The functionality of the attenuators is demonstrated using an application that compares the acoustic spectrum of the signal recorded at the outlet of the waveguide without the attenuators installed and with the attenuators in place. Construction steps of the demonstration kit are presented as well as the process of optimising the geometry of the resonator dampers and the difficulties of using 3D printing in the manufacturing processes of acoustic metamaterials are presented. The possibilities of using the demonstration set in the context of teaching, science communication and tackling acoustic noise pollution were also discussed. The broad possibilities for further development of the design, particularly the potential for use in prototyping new geometries of acoustic metamaterials were also addressed.Niniejszy tekst dotyczy konstrukcji zestawu popularyzatorskiego demonstrującego zastosowania tłumików wykorzystujących rezonans akustyczny w kontekście tłumienia hałasu przemysłowego o charakterze wąskopasmowym. Zestaw składa się z dwóch głównych komponentów: falowodu o przekroju okrągłym oraz wymiennych elementów tłumika umieszczanych w kanale falowodu. Demonstracja funkcjonalności tłumików odbywa się przy użyciu opracowanej aplikacji, która porównuje widmo akustyczne sygnału zarejestrowanego na wylocie falowodu bez zamontowanych tłumików oraz z zamontowanymi tłumikami. Przedstawiono kolejne etapy konstrukcji zestawu demonstracyjnego, proces optymalizacji geometrii tłumików rezonatorowych oraz trudności w zastosowaniu druku 3D w procesach produkcyjnych metamateriałów akustycznych. Omówiono możliwości zastosowania zestawu demonstracyjnego w kontekście dydaktycznym, popularyzacji nauki oraz walki z hałasem. Poruszono także kwestię szerokich możliwości dalszego rozwoju konstrukcji, w szczególności potencjału zastosowania w prototypowaniu nowych geometrii metamateriałów akustycznych.Krakówrozdziałwersja wydawnicz

    The increasing prevalence of diabetes is leveraging the development of improved management technologies, including non-enzymatic glucose sensors that offer enhanced stability and longer operation times. However, the lack of reliable methods to predict materials' electrocatalytic activity remains a significant barrier to their advancement. Herein, we obtained transition metal sulfides (CuSCuS, Ag2SAg_{2}S, FeS2FeS_{2}, and αNiSα-NiS) with similar shapes and sizes using wet chemical methods. Detailed structural and surface characterization revealed the presence of metals in mixed oxidation states and the formation of disulfides and polysulfides on the surface of air-exposed materials. The optical measurements supported by theoretical calculations indicated band gaps of 1.74, 0.98, and 1.14 eV in CuSCuS, FeS2FeS_{2}, and Ag2SAg_{2}S, respectively. Nickel sulfide exhibited an intraband transition at 1.42 eV. The electrocatalytic activity toward glucose was investigated using cyclic voltammetry and chronamperometry. The lowest oxidation potential of 615 mV showed αNiSα-NiS, whereas the highest – Ag2SAg_{2}S (860 mV). The sensitivity determined in chronoamperometry measurements increased in the order of αNiS>CuS>Ag2S>FeS2α-NiS>CuS>Ag_{2}S>FeS_{2}. Furthermore, selectivity studies revealed that FeS2FeS_{2} responded only to strong reductants, while αNiSα-NiS to all examined electroactive species. In the last step, a clear relationship was identified between the d-band center position (dbc)(d_{bc}) in metal sulfides and their electrochemical performance. The dbc relative to the Fermi level is optimal in CuSCuS and NiSNiS (around −2 eV) for forming bonds with glucose and intermediates, while in Ag2SAg_{2}S and FeS2FeS_{2}, it lays too far or too close for effective electrooxidation.innypostprin

    The article presents the design and implementation of a high-resolution paper spectroscope intended for educational purposes, along with a mobile application that conducts spectral analysis of the image and classifies the spectrum into elements from a built-in database of emission spectra. The image analysis algorithm was created to not require prior calibration, the result is based solely on the received image and the value of the diffraction grating used in the construction of the spectroscope. Experiments were conducted to examine the performance of the spectroscope using light bulbs and Plücker tubes. The accuracy of the image analysis and classification algorithm was tested based on generated images of the emission spectra of elements.Artykuł przedstawia projekt i wykonanie papierowego spektroskopu o dużej rozdzielczości przeznaczonego do celów edukacyjnych wraz z aplikacją mobilną przeprowadzającą analizę spektralną zdjęcia i klasyfikującą spektrum do pierwiastków z wbudowanej bazy spektrów emisyjnych. Algorytm analizujący obraz został stworzony tak, aby nie wymagał wcześniejszej kalibracji, wynik bazuje tylko na otrzymanym obrazie oraz na wartości stałej siatki dyfrakcyjnej użytej przy budowie spektroskopu. Przeprowadzono eksperymenty badające działanie spektroskopu przy użyciu żarówek i rurek Plückera. Dokładność analizy obrazu i algorytmu klasyfikacji badano na podstawie wygenerowanych obrazów spektrów emisyjnych pierwiastków.
