No full textTo promote easier and more accurate data collection, a tablet based tool was created that guides data collectors by providing color coded and textual instructions. Validation rules can be dynamically created that will analyze entered data and give immediate feedback to the data collector to improve accuracy.
This poster shows the paper-based form and images of the electronic tablet form in action. Some design goals and benefits that can be applied to many data entry systems include element order, color coding, typeface selection, active validation, automatic uploading, active guidance, and automatic data entry. Benefits include easy error correction and elimination of many errors, more involved guidance, remote validation rule design, and immediate availability of data for analysis

No full textIn the summer of 2012 I, along with 15 other design students and our professor, travelled to Ghana Africa for a 6 week experience. We spent the first two weeks traveling the country and learning about the culture. The last four weeks were spent taking the knowledge we gained and combining it with our architecture and interior design knowledge to design and build a double occupancy teachers' cottage for the village of Abrafo Odumasi

Get PDFTechnical services departments in academic libraries have long struggled to communicate effectively with other library departments, particularly public services departments. As academic libraries acquire large numbers of digital resources, technical services departments are increasingly responsible for providing current information about those resources to public services staff. The authors of this paper describe the process of creating, testing, and implementing LibGuides (proprietary software for building library portals and facilitating information sharing in libraries) as a new way of communicating much-needed information between technical services and public services staff at Miami University Libraries
