    Tough-Cooled Maroon is a collection of twenty-eight poems in three sections, which arc from an introspection amidst heartbreak to an external awareness of place and culture. Poems in each section, with this progression in mind, draw from a range of artistic influences, including not only those within the fine arts and poetry itself but also those within contemporary pop culture. While the writer experiments with nonce and established form, most poems appear in free verse. All moves occur in the interest of broadly engaging with art, craft, and media so that the writer may interact with her identity and surroundings as wholly as thesis parameters will allow

    This thesis explores the financialization of one residential-commercial corridor in New Orleans, Louisiana. The paper illuminates the transformations of neighborhoods and social spaces wrought by processes of rapidly inflating property values and the displacement of residents. The study works in the field of applied public research by mapping New Orleans property and land records valued through the Orleans Parish Assessor’s office and linking recorded corridor changes to stated goals and partner initiatives at the city level. Taking specific umbrage with commercial corridor revitalization framework and urban street corridor mapping projects, this thesis offers a reworked lens of historical material analysis. It uses the Saint Claude Avenue corridor and the histories of some of its inhabitants to lay out a receipt of public record from the financializing operations, financial vehicles, and the subsequently related phenomena of financialization in New Orleans between 1971 and 2021

Her quest for answers leads her to open the legendary Tamate Box and release deadly objects into the world.     Analysis of Forensic Artifacts in Database Memory using Support Vector Machine

    Memory analysis allows forensic investigators to establish a more complete timeline of system activity using a snapshot of main memory (i.e., RAM). Investigators may rely on such analysis to detect malicious activity and understand the scope of what data was exfiltrated. This is of particular interest in the presence of incomplete or untrusted logs, where a privileged user (or an attacker with such capabilities) can altogether bypass or disable logging. In such instances, a forensic investigator can still rely on the fact that data must ultimately be processed in memory, regardless of the information that is recorded in audit logs. In this work, we propose methods to reverse-engineer query activity from a database management system (DBMS) process snapshot. Since DBMSes are used to manage and store an organization’s most sensitive data, they are of particular concern for data exfiltration. A DBMS processes queries using a series of operations, such as index sort, file sort, or joins, which produce their own set of distinct forensic artifacts in memory. Our methods use these artifacts to make conclusions about recent query activity even in the presence of untrusted or incomplete logs. Our methods use a supervised learning based model using support vector machines (SVM) to approximate recently executed queries given these memory artifacts. We extract feature vectors from the byte frequencies in a special area of the DBMS process called the sort area fragment, and use SVM to predict the type of the query operation under supervised learning. We demonstrate the capabilities and the accuracy of our methods for two representative DBMSes, PostgreSQL and MySQL. Experimental results show that, our model achieved an accuracy of 92% and 90% on MySQL and PostgreSQL datasets, respectively

    Storm Intensity and Forward Speed Controls on Back-barrier and Shoreface Sediment Dynamics along the Louisiana Coast

    High energetic storms import sediment to back-barrier bays and marshes and produce a perennial footprint that contributes to the long-term evolution of the inner shelf, bays, and marsh platform. The magnitude of sedimentation in back-barrier bays and marshes varies with storm characteristics (e.g., storm intensity, forward speed, size, and track). However, quantifying the impacts of storm characteristics on the sediment exchange between the inner shelf, bays, and marshes and documenting the resulting net sediment import and export patterns across these interfaces remains largely unexplored. Here we applied a calibrated Delft3D hydrodynamics and sediment transport model to a microtidal bay-marsh complex in the central coast of Louisiana. The study quantifies the contributions of a suite of storms with varying storm characteristics to evaluate resulting sediment exchange volumes and assess bay/marsh sediment deposition. Model results show that storm forward speed and intensity are the chief and dominant storm characteristics that control sediment exchange between the inner shelf – bay – marsh environments, while other storm characteristics like storm size and track play a secondary role. Finally, shelf – bay – marsh sediment exchange volumes correlate non-linearly with storm intensity and forward speed
