Character Development and the Fear of Failure: Finding Huldey in Jen Silverman\u27s The Moors

    No full text
This paper examines my process of developing the character of Huldey in Jen Silverman\u27s play The Moors, directed by Madison Smith. I discuss the steps I took, the techniques I studied, the challenges I met, and how I faced and fought the fear of failure. In this production, I also studied characters from a few films suggested by our director for inspiration. This paper also includes background information on the playwright, their inspirations for The Moors, including Charlotte Brontë’s letters, and historical information about the place and period in which it is set. I lay out my experience throughout the production process beginning with play selection through the run of the show. This includes rehearsal journals, my “Huldey diary”, a scored script, feedback from audience members, and self-reflection

    2025 New Orleans Mayoral Election

    No full text
The University of New Orleans Survey Research Center (SRC) conducted a live interviewer telephone poll of likely voters in Orleans Parish. A total of 409 randomly selected respondents were interviewed between September 20th and September 24th. A likely voter was defined as an individual who voted in at least four of the last ten elections where turnout was above 10 percent. 1 In addition, individuals who voted in three of the last ten elections and participated in the 2021 mayoral election were included in the sampling frame. The combined landline and cell phone sample was weighted to reflect the gender, age, race, and council district parameters of the voter file obtained from the Louisiana Secretary of State. The margin of error is +/- 4.8 percent at a 95% level of confidence

Tanya Harris-Glasow is a community organizer who was a resident of the Lower Ninth Ward and a member of ACORN prior to Hurricane Katrina. She was a founding member of the Katrina Survivors Association and, after ACORN\u27s dissolution, A Community Voice. Her work involved direct action coordination, policy advocacy, leadership training, and coalition-building.
