Third Annual Catalogue of Illinois Holiness University 1911-1912
In offering this catalog to the public we feel that no apology is necessary for the existence of Illinois Holiness University. We are not strictly a university yet, but the original plans of the corporation justified the name. The development of these plans will be taken up in due time. We are offering a first class college course comparable with that of the best colleges and universities of the land. We purpose to live up to our publications and to meet all obligations to our patronage that we assume in this and other publications. Also, we shall endeavor, by the help of God, to make and keep the religious atmosphere what our name implies. We solicit the confidence and patronage of the public. The students of 1910-11 have been more than pleased with Illinois Holiness University. If you know any of them write for a personal testimony.https://digitalcommons.olivet.edu/acaff_catalog/1002/thumbnail.jp
Commencement Program 1911
The 2nd annual commencement program of The Illinois Holiness University, Olivet, IL, June 07, 1911
Second Annual Catalogue of Illinois Holiness University 1910-1911
In offering this catalog to the public we feel that no apology is necessary for the existence of Illinois Holiness University. Inasmuch as this is only the second year of the College proper, and inasmuch as last year was hindered by lack of buildings, in many respects we shall tell what we expect to do this year, rather than what we have been able to do in the past. We propose to live up to our publications, and to meet all obligations to our patronage that we assume in this and other publications. Our Faculty is not large enough to teach all the courses published, but it is large enough to meet all the demands we shall probably have this year. I f not, we stand in readiness to supply the demands upon short notice. Also, we propose, by the help of God, to keep the religious atmosphere what our name implies. We solicit your confidence and patronage.https://digitalcommons.olivet.edu/acaff_catalog/1001/thumbnail.jp
A Report Upon the Drainage of Agricultural Lands in the Kankakee River Valley, Indiana
.... a manuscript accompanied by maps, giving the results of the drainage investigations and surveys made by this Office in the Kankakee River Valley during the years 1905 and 1906/ Special reports upon these investigations have been submitted to officers having charge of the drainage of certain parts of the valley, but, owing to the magnitude of the project and to the fact that a large number of property owners must cooperate in executing the work if the lands are to be effectually drained, ..
The Illinois Holiness University Catalogue 1909-1910
The first university catalog.
This school has been founded at the call of God. It is a child of faith and prayer. A Holiness Mission Tabernacle was erected by a few brethren in and around Georgetown, Illinois, in the autumn of 1905. The blessing of the Lord was upon the enterprise, and the spirit was poured out in revival power.
The young people connected with the work felt a call to preach or to labor in mission fields. They needed more education, and this fact impressed upon the minds of the Holiness brethren the urgent need of a Holiness school. The executive board of the Tabernacle work made it a subject of prayer. Elvin Judd in private devotion seemed to be impressed by the Spirit to speak to Brother Edward Richards about purchasing a farm. Even before the Tabernacle board had the burden of a school laid upon them in 1900, Brother Orla A. Nesbitt felt a similar burden, and went as far as Denver, Colorado, looking for a suitable location. When Brother Nesbitt learned of Brother Richard’s proposition to purchase, he joined with him and purchased the adjoining farm on the north for the purpose of building a Holiness School. The two contained 424 acres.
It is their purpose to have an institution at the front in educational facilities and scholastic attainments, and yet to make it a distinctly spiritual school, putting chief stress upon the doctrine of Sanctification as a second definite work of grace, subsequent to regeneration, wrought by the Holy Ghost.https://digitalcommons.olivet.edu/acaff_catalog/1000/thumbnail.jp
