Macellomenia profundorum n. sp. (Mollusca, Solenogastres, Pholidoskepia) a new abyssal species from the South Atlantic Ocean (Angola Basin)
A new species of solenogaster (Mollusca, Aplacophora) from the Angola Basin is described: Macellomenia profundorum n. sp. The studied specimen was collected during the DIVA 1 expedition (Latitudinal Gradients of Deep-Sea BioDIVersity in the Atlantic Ocean). The description is based primarily on the sclerites and the internal anatomy (histological study). Macellomenia profundorum n. sp. is the first species of the family to be described from the southern hemisphere and constitutes its deepest record (5400 m deep). Even though only anterior anatomical characters are known, these and especially the radula and mantle sclerites are enough to justify that it is a new species. Amended diagnoses are also provided for the family and genus
Determination of the Interaction Depth Caused by Stress Peening at Leaf Springs
Stress peening is a normal production step in leaf spring production. It enhanced the compressive residual stresses in the spring. The question that arises is what the amount is caused by shot peening and on the other hand coming from the prestress. A subtraction of the residual stresses along the leaf and perpendicular in dependence of the depth shows the increase. One result is a section that shows the limit of the maximal inducible residual stress. that is two-thirds of the tensile strength. The depth of the interaction is depended on the energy of the shots, the hardness of the shots, and the component to be shot peened. If the preload for peening is up to the tensile strength, depths of more than 500 µm are suitable for leaf springs. This method can be also done for coil or disk springs.Funding: Research Fund for Coal and Steel, Grant Agreement No 79978
Transforming wastewater treatment plants into reclaimed water facilities in water-unbalanced regions. An overview of possibilities and recommendations focusing on the Italian case
Water scarcity will be one of the most challenging topics to cope with in the following years, especially in the regions most affected by climate change such as the Mediterranean basin. The implementation of water reuse practices thus appears essential to satisfy future water demands in a sustainable way, helping to reduce hydric stress in water-unbalanced regions. However, it remains as an underused practice. To change this situation, the wastewater sector needs to develop some structural changes that include not only the transformation of conventional wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) into novel reclaimed water facilities (RWF), but also some paradigm shifts regarding social, political and legal factors. The goal of this manuscript is to provide a systemic, novel and updated vision of the wastewater treatment sector and to give some recommendations for the implementation of wastewater reuse in agriculture, with a special focus on the Italian case. Extensive data regarding water reuse technologies for the refining, disinfection and advanced oxidation of wastewater is also provided. This comprehensive analysis could help to align the objectives to be achieved from all the perspectives (technical, economic, legal and socio-political), thus helping to fill current gaps and overcome barriers that hinder water reuse development

AN IPA APPROACH TO A MINDFULNESS MEDITATION INTERVENTION
Mindfulness meditation (MM) interventions, such as Mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), have been shown to reduce stress and anxiety in many university student samples. Practicing MM over long periods of time increases levels of trait mindfulness (TM), characterized by a general decrease in daily stress and anxiety levels and a proliferation of positive mindfulness habits and attitudes. Thus, understanding how to optimally increase TM levels across time can be highly beneficial for university students. However, studies, measures, and models explaining the nature of TM have produced many different paradigms, some of which are restrictive.
The present study utilized interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) methodology to explore the experiences of two university student participants in a 12-week MM intervention adapted from an official MBSR program. The IPA interview process revealed potentially salient components of TM based on the habits and trends that participants implemented into their daily lives as a result of the MM program. Results of the IPA highlight the need for a versatile model of TM which can evolve as future researchers propose new and substantiate existing facets

Pectin recovery from apple pomace by forward osmosis – assisted technology

This study evaluates the performance of forward osmosis (FO) to concentrate and dewater apple pomace extract for subsequent pectin recovery. After pretreatment by sieve filtration and centrifugation, the FO water flux during real apple pomace extract concentration was 7.8 L·m-2·h-1 and was comparable to the FO process for a one-component model pectin solution. However, due to fouling, at 75% water recovery, up to 70% flux decline was observed. Osmotic backwashing using a spent draw solution as the osmotic agent was effective and could completely restore the water flux (ca. 100% flux recovery) after multiple filtration cycles. A comprehensive techno-economic assessment was also conducted to demonstrate significant reduction in capital investment and operating cost when applying FO for concentrating apple pomace extract prior to pectin recovery. The investment payback period was shortened from over 5 to 2 years, at 80% water recovery. Results in this study highlight the utility of FO to replace the traditional evaporation method for enhance the economic viability and environmental friendliness of pectin recovery.
