Anatoma occidentalis n. sp. (Vetigastropoda, Anatomidae) from upper bathyal coral habitats off western Africa
A new species in the family Anatomidae J. H. McLean, 1989 (Gastropoda) is proposed: Anatoma occidentalis n. sp., found off Mauritania and Angola. Empty shells of the new species were found in sediment samples collected in habitats associated with deep-water corals from an upper bathyal depth range
Les sarcophages de lézards de bronze d'Époque Tardive: État des Questions
A number of bronze boxes are known to have an embossed animal figurine on their lids. Poorly dated, because often out of archaeological context, they have been identified sometimes as amulets, as sarcophagi and/or as a votive offering. These artefacts have been recently the object of renewed interest. We will be particularly interested in those bearing the effigy of one, more rarely several, lizard(s) or gecko(s). The article will provide an update on the issue, as part of the establishment of a database. We shall try to explain the presence of such animals, related by some scholars with the god Atūm.
On connaît un certain nombre de coffrets de bronze portant sur leur couvercle une figurine animale en relief. Mal datés, car souvent hors contexte archéologique, identifiés tantôt comme amulettes, comme sarcophages et/ou comme offrandes votives, ces documents ont fait ces dernières années l’objet d’un regain d’intérêt. Nous nous intéresserons plus particulièrement à ceux qui portent l’effigie d’un, plus rarement plusieurs, lézard(s) ou gecko(s). L’article fera le point sur la question, dans le cadre de la constitution d’une base de données. On s’interrogera sur la présence de tels animaux, la relation que l’on a pu établir avec le dieu Atūm n’étant pas toujours évidente ni univoque

Human Decomposition: Its Stages and Progress Before or During the Mummification Process
Natural mummification is a process that stops or delays human decomposition, especially in a dry environment as in Egypt. The factors that influence the rate of the decomposition are mostly the external ones. Anthropogenic mummification is a human–made effort to prepare the dead for an afterlife. Often things were going wrong and tissues were destroyed, accidentally or intentionally, before, during and after the mummification process. The ancient embalmers found some interesting ways to preserve the body and give a lifelike appearance to the dead. In this short review paper we discuss all this, with emphasis in the process of putrefaction
BLOOM II campaign - Remote sensing datasets
<p>This repository contains datasets from the remote sensing instrumentation used during the BLOOM II (turBulence and oLea pOllen prOperties experiMent) campaign. This campaign took place from March 28 to May 31 2023, at the Guadiana-UGR station (37.91ºN, 3.23ºW, 370 m asl) in Southern Spain, within the framework of the INTEGRATYON3 project (PID2020-117825GB-C21 and PID2020-117825GB-C22), funded by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033.</p>
<p>The primary focus of the campaign was to investigate olive tree pollen emissions and characterize aerosol particles and greenhouse gas exchanges in an olive field. Instruments deployed at the station included a HALO Photonics StreamLine Doppler lidar, a CHM15k-Nimbus ceilometer (Lufft) and a sun-sky photometer (Cimel Electronique), all operating continuously.</p>
<p>The Doppler lidar dataset correspond to the raw data produced by the instrument software as well as the products produced by the "HALO lidar toolbox", developed by Manninen (2019; <a href="https://github.com/manninenaj/HALO_lidar_toolbox" target="_blank" rel="noopener">https://github.com/manninenaj/HALO_lidar_toolbox</a>). Ceilometer dataset correspond to the raw data produced by the instrument software. Sun-photometer data is accessible via AERONET (<a href="https://aeronet.gsfc.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/data_display_aod_v3?site=Guadiana-UGR" target="_new">https://aeronet.gsfc.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/data_display_aod_v3?site=Guadiana-UGR</a>).</p>

Le cerveau, ce méconnu, et la momification en Égypte ancienne
According to a common idea, the Egyptians did not give importance to the brain during mummification. Thus, it could be left in place or removed during the surgical phase. What could be the treatment given to this organ during excerebration? What was the consequence of the choice selected by the embalmer for the deceased’s head conservation? Through the study of medical and funerary texts, different items appear against this idea, and the importance of this anatomical element shows up.
Selon une idée courante, les Égyptiens n’accordaient pas d’importance au cerveau pendant la momification. De ce fait, il pouvait être laissé en place ou évacué au cours de la phase chirurgicale. Quel pouvait être le traitement accordé à cet organe au cours de l’excérébration? Quelle était la conséquence du choix de l’opérateur pour la conservation de la tête du défunt?
