    Celestial Aspects of Aphaia

    The Temple of Aphaia in Aegina is one of the best–preserved Doric temples of the Classical Era. Erroneously connected with Athēna, Aphaia was originally and foremost a local deity of Aegina. In ancient literature she is described as of Cretan origin and Phoenician descent. Following Aphaia’s travels through space and time and her relation with other deities, we shall investigate if the myth and the temple itself may hold a celestial significance. We conclude that there is a possible connection of the goddess with Planet Venus, and we note the similarities of her story with the Canaanite deity Asherah, as well as Santa Marina

    The genus Chondrina is the most diverse genus of land snails living in the Iberian Peninsula. Recent molecular studies led to important changes in the delimitation of species, with the proposal of several new species pending description. In this paper we present a review of the genus, including the description of 11 new species, previously identified by DNA sequencing studies. The species are grouped in seven phylogroups, named as: maginensis, farinesii, aguilari, granatensis+gasulli, tenuimarginata, kobelti and avenacea groups. A synthesis of the phylogenetic relationships of taxa within each phylogroup is presented in the form of phylogenetic trees. The synonymy, shell description and photographs representative of its polymorphism accompany each species. A reinterpretation of the C. farinesii complex is made, which is proposed as a polytypic species, with one new species described. The other ten undescribed species correspond to the granatensis+gasulli group, which is distributed in the eastern Iberian Peninsula.     <p>The dataset include two different types of files: ground-based Doppler lidar files (.nc extention) and radiosonde files (.txt extention). The measurements were taken at the city of Granada, by the Atmospheric Physics Research Group of the Andalusian Institute for Earth System Research (IISTA) of the University of Granada.     On relit sous un prisme égyptologique l’Hymne Orphique à la Lune (Selēnē) [Quandt 41973: 9], en présen­tant ses traits astronomiques et cosmographiques et en les comparant à quelques références à la Lune trou­vées dans des sources épigraphiques diverses (TP, TS, LdM, autres monuments, & c.) avec des conclusions ré­capitulati­ves. Comme la datation des idées astronomiques contenues dans les Hymnes Orphiques coïncide avec le Nou­vel Empire et à cause de la grande importance des connaissances astronomiques des Orphiques, on ren­contre beaucoup de similitudes en métaphores cosmographiques —à la fois dans les hymnes et dans les textes égyptiens—qui décrivent les mouvements et les caractéristiques divers de brillance de la Lune. Les affirma­tions liées aux données objectives de l’Archéoastronomie n’ont ni pour finalité ni pour conséquence de con­tredire les données philologiques, littéraires et historiques exposées dans des études récentes, mais seulement de suggérer que la longue tradition au terme de laquelle ils ont reçu leur contenu et leur forme actuellement connus se caractérise par de très lointaines origines dans le temps, comme c’est également le cas avec les idées astronomiques des TP. En plus, dans les textes les plus anciens des Égyptiens il y a des allégories cosmiques qui dessinent les épiphanies lunaires décrivant le mouvement particulier de la Lune (Passeur Céleste) sur l’Écliptique, ainsi que les périodicités de ses phases qui sont liées aux fêtes lunaires mensuel­les et aux offrandes de nourriture concomitantes à la fois pour les décédées et les divinités de l’au-delà

    New species and new records in Cerithiopsidae and Newtoniellidae (Triphoroidea, Gastropoda) from the Azores and the South Azorean Seamount Chain

    This study is part of a broader inventory of bathyal molluscs from the Azores and South Azorean Seamount Chain. Herein a review was completed on taxa in the families Cerithiopsidae and Newtoniellidae, mostly represented in our material by empty shells. Twenty-one species are recorded, of which only five have a planktotrophic larval development. Six new species are described in Cerithiopsidae (Cerithiopsis sliekeri n. sp., Krachia cochleapex n. sp., K. trauseli n. sp., K. stilapex n. sp., K. meteoris n. sp., Onchodia tenuicula n. sp.) and four species in Newtoniellidae (Cerithiella seilaeformis n. sp., Eumetula bicarinata n. sp., E. fenestrata n. sp., Trituba azorica n. sp.). Cerithiella candela Fernandes, Garofalo & Pimenta, 2015 is recorded from Meteor Seamount, for the first time outside the soutwestern Atlantic. Cerithiopsis fayalensis, Krachia cf. obeliscoides, Ektonos turbonilloides, Cerithiella metula, Cerithiella amblytera, Eumetula bouvieri and E. alicei, previously known from the Azores, are recorded on the South Azorean Seamount Chain. Most species are represented in more than one seamount and around the Azores, and only K. trauseli and T. azorica appear restricted to the seamounts near the Azores; nevertheless, most new species are likely endemic to the study area

    E-commerce is anything that involves an online transaction. E-commerce provides multiple benefits to the consumers in form of availability of goods at lower cost, wider choice, and saving time. The general category of e-commerce can be broken down into two parts: E-merchandise and E-Finance. E-commerce involves conducting business using modern communication instruments: telephone, fax, e-payment, money transfer systems, e-data interchange, and the Internet. Online businesses like financial services, travel, entertainment, and groceries are all likely to grow. Forces influencing the distribution of global e-commerce and its forms include economic factors, political factors, cultural factors, and supranational institutions. Goods and Service Tax or GST as it is known is all set to be a game-changer for the Indian economy. Overall it is known to be beneficial to both the consumer, business, and the Government. In India, there are different indirect taxes applied on goods and services by central and state governments. GST is intended to include all these taxes into one tax with seamless ITC and charged on both goods and services. Thus excise duty, special additional duty, service tax, VAT to name a few will get repealed and will be added into GST. For this, GST will have 3 parts CGST, SGST, and IGST. The central taxes like excise duty will be subsumed into CGST and state taxes like VAT into SGST. This going to be forward on all transactions of both goods and services, only one tax will apply which is GST comprising of CGST and SGST. IGST would be applied instead of SGST for interstate transactions. Input credit of all these taxes will be available against all the respective outputs. This paper is the outcome of a review of various research studies carried out on the Impact of GST on E-commerce. This paper examines different aspects like No threshold for GST registration, No Benefit under Composition Scheme, Tax Collection at Source by Marketplace Operator. Finally in the conclusion, one country and one tax will help the Indian economy to grow rapidly
