Sign-symbol Systems in Artistic Practices of Ukrainian Artists of the 1960-1970s, Based on the Example of the Monumental and Decorative Panels by Oleg Yerzhykivsky

    No full text

The purpose of the research is to analyze the parallels between the monumental art of Ukrainian artists of the 1960s and 1970s and world graphic design. Research methods consist in the application of formal and stylistic analysis of works of art, as well as general scientific methods of analysis and synthesis of new materials introduced into scientific circulation. Scientific novelty. For the first time, the stylistic performance of unstudied enough objects of monumental and decorative art was analyzed. Achievements in the creation of symbolic and design systems were compared. The main common conceptual approaches in creation, the similarity of thematic directions and stylistic approaches are identified, the differences of the visual language due to various performance techniques are diagnosed. The photos from a private family archive have been made public for the first time. Conclusions. Despite the general ideological engagement of the Soviet artistic environment in the 1960s and 1970s, there were works that were ahead of their time and used the material resources of the USSR-Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic to create works on universally important topics (culture, science, technology, history). Such are Oleg Yerzhykivsky’s panels for monumental structures created by him during his work in 1963-1969 at ZNDIEP (Kyiv Zonal Research Institute of Experimental Design of Residential and Public Buildings), which can be attributed to urban identity devoid of any propaganda communist color in the subject, but rather devoted to civilizational values. Using the achievements of the creation of sign and symbolic systems of previous historical periods, the master managed to create his own stylistic system, which exists outside of time and a specific state or social order. From a formative point of view, the analyzed panels gravitate towards the visual language of graphic design, predicting such genre sectors as identity, brand books, navigation systems for public spaces, mascots for brands, etc. The common features established by this study are: laconic image, condensation of graphic expression, development of a system of signs perceived at the level of conventional symbols, use of elementary modular grid for arrangement of visual elements and creation of patterns (prefabricated plate technology).

http://demiurge.knukim.edu.ua/article/view/292169</p&gt

A DYNAMIC LONG-TERM APPROACH TO INTERNATIONALIZATION: SPANISH PUBLISHING FIRMS' EXPANSION AND EMIGRANTS IN MEXICO (1939-1977)

    No full text

This study examines how firms with scarce market and non-market resources can succeed in internationalizing, even in a host country that lacks trade and diplomatic relationships with the firms’ home country. With a hand-collected, historical database of the Spanish publishing industry’s investments in Mexico over the 20th century, we find that in a context of suspension of bilateral trade agreements and diplomatic relationships between Spain and Mexico, Spanish publishing firms leveraged Spanish emigrants to internationalize in the Mexican market, initially through exports, then through distribution and local commercial subsidiaries, and finally through local production. Spanish publishers progressively used emigrants to develop social and cultural support, to help establish formal and informal rules, procedures, and norms of institutions and to lobby in Mexico. Combining historical and inductive analyses, we offer a novel perspective on firms’ internationalization through a changing use of emigrants to endogenize the cultural, trade, and political distance between the home and the host country, and we develop new theoretical insights on the social, cultural, and political embeddedness of firms.

The version of record of this article, first published in Journal of International Business Studies, is available online at Publisher’s website: A dynamic long-term approach to internationalization: Spanish publishing firms’ expansion and emigrants in Mexico (1939–1977) | Journal of International Business Studies (springer.com)

Suggested Citation: Caterina Moschieri & Maria Fernandez-Moya, 2022. Coal Bed Methane a Sustainable Alternative Fuel: Opportunities and Challenges in India

    No full text

Abstract: With the alarmingly increasing demand for fossil fuels and their exhaustible reserves, it is imperative to substitute them with alternative hydrocarbon sources. India's oil import for F.Y. 2021-22 has been 84.4%, as per PPAC. Having the fifth largest coal reserves in the World, Coal Bed Methane (CBM) provides the avenue for extracting Methane (90-95%) entrapped in the coal beds seams. CBM is a clean and unconventional fuel resource that may help tackle the fuel shortage for India's growing GDP. Methane extracted through this method can help provide the masses with cleaner and more affordable energy, aligning with the SDGs. In India, Methane is currently used in the transportation sector as compressed natural gas (CNG) and as liquefied natural gas (LNG). And in households as PNG (Piped Natural Gas) for cooking (gas stoves) and heating water (gas geysers). The Indian government is gearing up to reduce gas imports and set a gas production target of 50 BCM by 2023-24. This initiative has further opened the scope for CBM exploration in India. As per the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons, India has prognosticated 92 TCF (2600 BCM) in 12 states of CBM resources. To meet the energy demand of the growing Indian economy, the potential of CBM needs to be explored. This review focuses on the overview of CBM in India and analyses the techno-economic challenges, including investment opportunities, policy limitations, and technological bottlenecks.

Keywords: Coal Bed Methane, Alternate fuel, CBM technology,Environment challenges, Economic opportunities

JEL Classification Number: Q2</p&gt

Abstract: Brand love has been influenced by various important marketing variables. Long-standing difficulties with considerable literature coverage include consumers creating emotional bonds with brands and the bond attaching oneself to a product-brand. This relationship's primary input is brand experience, and its primary output is brand love. It explains the brands love specially positioned by the consumer as the brand satisfaction is continuous and the characteristics of them are intended to study in this research. Brand experience positively influences the brand satisfaction. This study aims to investigate the effects of ongoing brand satisfaction on brand love. In an Indian study, 551 individuals who use Taj Mahal tea brands were questioned. Conflict Management for Innovation and Top Management Teams

    No full text

Abstract: For growing firms to be able to adapt and innovate, top management teams may be essential. The performance of top management teams is said to be enhanced by conflict and diversity, according to a number of streams of strategy research. This research offers a new viewpoint on important conflict antecedents, mediators, and outcomes in the surroundings of the innovation process by operating from the premise that conflict is complex, multidimensional, and context-specific. This study makes the argument that top management teams' ability to effectively lead organizational innovation can be strongly influenced by the way they handle conflict. The management of conflict (cooperative, competitive, and avoiding) and productive conflict (result of conflict) were assessed by 300 executives from 110 firms in Delhi. These firms indicated their team’s effectiveness and their organization’s innovativeness. The hypothesis that conflict management can help top management teams be more effective is supported by the findings. According to structural equation analysis, managing conflict helps top management teams function more effectively, which in turn leads to organizational innovation.

Keyword: Conflict Management, Organization, Innovation, Team Effectiveness, Performance</p&gt
