Impact of Hofstede's Cultural Dimensions on Cross Cultural Leadership Effectiveness in Bangalore's IT Sector

    No full text

Abstract: This empirical study investigates the impact of Hofstede's cultural dimensions on cross cultural leadership effectiveness in Bangalore's IT sector. Through surveying 413 IT professionals, the study assesses the consistency and reliability of Hofstede's dimensions, explores their correlation with leadership effectiveness, and analyses their impact. Strong reliability and validity are demonstrated across constructs. Significant correlations are found between cultural dimensions and leadership effectiveness, with Hofstede's dimensions explaining a substantial proportion of variance in leadership effectiveness. Regression analysis supports the hypothesis that Hofstede's cultural dimensions significantly impact cross-cultural leadership effectiveness. These findings underscore the importance of incorporating cultural dimensions in cross-cultural leadership practices within multicultural IT environments.

Keywords: Hofstede's Cultural Dimensions, Cross-Cultural Leadership, Leadership Effectiveness, Bangalore IT Sector, Multicultural Environments</p&gt

Capital Structure Theories and Firm-specific and Macroeconomic Factors: A Literature Review

    No full text

Abstract: Modigliani and Miller(1958) pioneered the notion of capital structure. Many scholars have reached conclusions that align with economic reality while loosening assumptions and enhancing and improving the theory of business capital structure. Relevant capital structure ideas have evolved into two stages: old and new. Old capital structure theory relies on rigid assumptions, such as conventional, MM, and tradeoff theories. The new capital structure theory incorporates modern analytical techniques, including market timing theory and signalling theory, as well as agency cost and superior order finance theories. Many factors of capital structure werefirm-specific and macroeconomic variables, asset turnover, profitability, firm age, firm size, asset tangibility, growth opportunity, volatility, non-debt tax shield, growth domestic product, and inflation rate. This paper reviews important literature from domestic and international sources, focuses on capital structure theory and its associated elements, and optimizes the theoretical framework for decision-making.

Keywords: Capital Structure, Firm-Specific, Macroeconomic Factors</p&gt

Divergence in Environmental Performance and Intra-Industry Trade: Empirical Results for India

    No full text

Abstract: Given the growing awareness on climate change concerns, recourse to environmental provisions as effective measures is getting increasingly enshrined in both domestic and international policies. The possibility of environmental damage caused during production phase in the partner countries and the need to curb import of such products have motivated several countries to introduce environment-related trade instruments. India has always objected to the idea of incorporating environmental provisions in multilateral or bilateral trade negotiations, arguing that these concerns are best addressed within the United Nation Environmental Programme (UNEP) forums. However, in the recent past, the country had to agree for such provisions in its regional trade agreement (RTA) negotiations, with potential ramifications on both trade flows and intra-industry trade (IIT) patterns. Given this background, this study attempts to ascertain how dissimilarities in environmental performance may impact India’s IIT patterns, in presence of resource endowment and technology level differences. Interestingly, India’s IIT-intensity is observed to be geared towards industrially superior countries characterized by relatively better environmental performance. The empirical results indicate that India needs to devise appropriate policies to rise up the value chain.

Keywords: India, Environmental Performance Difference, Technology Difference, Intra-Industry Trade, Endowment Divergence

JEL Classification Numbers: F13, F14, F15, F18</p&gt

Does CSR Facilitate Post-Acquisition Integration? The Case of Distressed Mergers and Acquisitions

    No full text

Abstract: We examine the role of CSR in post-M&A integration for distressed M&As in India, where CSR spending is legally mandatory for firms. We find that for distressed M&As, increases in the target firm’s above-mandatory CSR and social CSR spending facilitate post-M&A integration. Also, if acquirers reduce their above-mandatory CSR and environmental CSR spending, integration improves. Finally, if both the acquirer and target spend too much or too little on voluntary CSR, it hinders integration. This supports shareholder expense and CSR overspending theories. We confirm the importance of CSR spending, compliance, and individual CSR dimensions on post-M&A integration for distressed M&As.

Keywords: CSR, Distressed M&A, Compliance, Integration

JEL Classification Number: G33, G34, M14, M48</p&gt

Role of Employee Well-being Programs in Organizational Success and Understanding the Influence of Organization Culture on Employee Satisfaction and Retention

    No full text

Abstract: This study looks at how organizational culture affects employee attitudes, motivation, and commitment to the company. It also looks at how it affects employee satisfaction and retention. The study is a survey-based study. We look at how different parts of an organization's culture, like values, communication, leadership style, recognition, work-life balance, and growth chances, affect employee satisfaction and retention. Results suggest that a positive and supportive company culture makes a big difference in how happy employees are with their jobs. Employees are more happy and satisfied with their jobs when the company's culture encourages a feeling of belonging, employee engagement, and alignment with the company's values. Organizations that put the health and growth of their employees first tend to have a better retention rate. On the other hand, a negative or toxic culture with poor communication, lack of recognition, and few opportunities for growth could lead to more people leaving and the loss of important talent. In the end, the study shows that company culture has a big effect on employee satisfaction and retention.

Keywords: Organizational Culture, Employee Satisfaction, Leadership, Retention

JEL Classification Number: M51, M52</h1&gt

    Dynamics of Credibility in Electronic-Word-of-Mouth

    No full text

Abstract: Electronic Word-of-Mouth (eWOM) has evolved into a component of the decision-making process used by consumers. The objective of this paper is to investigate the dynamics of credibility in the context of eWOM. Analysing what has an influence on eWOM credibility is significant for consumers and companies alike, since online platforms are increasingly taking the place of traditional information sources and referrals. The study utilized multiple regression to analyse the data. The results of the study reflected that perceived information credibility has a significant influence on information adoption. Information quality, information quantity, and customer ratings did not have any significant impact on perceived information credibility, whereas information consistency and source credibility were noted to have a significant impact on perceived information credibility, with source credibility having the greatest impact. The findings of this study will have implications for both theory and practice.

Keywords: Credibility, Electronic Word-of-Mouth, eWOM

JEL Classification Number: M31</p&gt
