VOR gain and body sway before and after VOR gain adaptation
No full textEighteen healthy adults stood wearing an inertial measurement device with their eyes closed on foam before and after incremental VOR gain down adaptation. Active head impulse VOR gain was measured before and after the adaptation to ensure VOR gain adaptation. Percentage change for VOR gain was determined. Sway area was compared before and after VOR adaptation. VOR gain decreased unilaterally exceeding meaningful change values. Sway area was significantly greater immediately after VOR gain down adaptation, but quickly returned to baseline.</p

Topics in this guide include: addressing social determinants of health; partnering with community organizations; predicting health impact of interventions; self-awareness of the culture of medicine; project design and management; evaluation on a shoestring; public speaking, talking to the media and other communications; legislative advocacy and “changing the world” in an hour a month; sustainability beyond grant-writing; behavior change.The curriculum in this field guide has been replicated at sites across the US and the resultant community-based projects have won multiple national awards. With this project, I have aimed to foster enhanced living conditions for individuals curious about the prospects of a quality lifestyle. Sadly prompted by Rochester's high crime rate, I was compelled to investigate how other cities within the Tri-State area fare in comparison and would like to know why this city is suffering. The project was not just to identify the best cities to live in, but to understand the underlying factors that constitute the quality of life. Throughout this whole data analysis, I sought to uncover correlations between various indicators, thereby establishing a "numbered" hierarchy of cities and counties within the states based on these metrics. While it was disheartening to discover that Monroe County is plagued by a high crime rate and lagging quality of life indicators, I truly believe this is not a dead end but an opportunity for transformation. By learning from the positive indicators of other regions, we can set benchmarks aimed at elevating the living standards, which lead the city to make the people enjoy their daily lives here. The ultimate goal is to cultivate communities where everyone can thrive on these beautiful lives. Throughout this analytical journey, my hope was to unearth meaningful insights that could spotlight the areas needing improvement and subsequently guide initiatives to uplift the lives of the populace.</p
