    The impact and challenges of e-governance in educational institutions: a systematic literature review

    The current study explores the impact of e-governance on the effectiveness of the quality of educational institutions and the challenges facing its implementation, using a systematic review of literature studies with a descriptive-analytical approach to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the topic. The initial sample includes 104 studies, while due to some exclusion criteria, the final sample includes 36 studies conducted between 2006 and 2023. This study suggests that there is a significant impact of employing e-governance on improving the performance of educational institutions. The results also highlight the most important challenges that face e-governance in these institutions, as well as the need to find solutions to address these challenges. Moreover, this research develops a knowledge base that helps the reader understand the reality of e-governance for educational institutions in developing countries. The study’s insights are invaluable to policymakers in general, and it provides a model for electronic educational management to improve the quality of educational services in the future

    Characterising acute and chronic care needs: insights from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2019

    Chronic care manages long-term, progressive conditions, while acute care addresses short-term conditions. Chronic conditions increasingly strain health systems, which are often unprepared for these demands. This study examines the burden of conditions requiring acute versus chronic care, including sequelae. Conditions and sequelae from the Global Burden of Diseases Study 2019 were classified into acute or chronic care categories. Data were analysed by age, sex, and socio-demographic index, presenting total numbers and contributions to burden metrics such as Disability-Adjusted Life Years (DALYs), Years Lived with Disability (YLD), and Years of Life Lost (YLL). Approximately 68% of DALYs were attributed to chronic care, while 27% were due to acute care. Chronic care needs increased with age, representing 86% of YLDs and 71% of YLLs, and accounting for 93% of YLDs from sequelae. These findings highlight that chronic care needs far exceed acute care needs globally, necessitating health systems to adapt accordingly

    Foot arch asymmetry and its correlations with physical fitness level and body mass index among school-aged children

    PurposeTo assess potential differences in foot arch structure between the left and right feet and how this is connected to physical fitness and BMI in school-age children. Methods437 children (6–16 years) participated and were divided into group 1 (n = 188, aged 6–9 yrs), and group 2 (n = 249, aged 10–16 yrs). Bilateral foot arches' absolute values were obtained using a digital pressure platform, and arches' types based on the Chippaux-Smirak-Index (CSI) (high, normal, flat arches) were identified. Physical fitness levels using the modified Zuchora test's total score and categorization level, and the BMI were determined for all children. ResultsAbnormal foot arches were more common in the non-dominant left foot compared to the dominant right foot, with a higher occurrence of high arches than flat feet in both groups. The foot arch CSI-mean values were significantly asymmetrical, with the left foot showing higher values (0.23 ± 0.17) than the right foot (0.22 ± 0.16) (p = 0.004). Group 2 showed a notable direct relationship between children's BMI and the CSI-absolute values of both left (p = 0.009) and right (p = 0.030) foot arches. While group 1 showed a strong link between children's BMI and left-foot CSI-absolute values (p = 0.028), there was no such correlation with right-foot CSI-absolute values (p = 0.055). Nonetheless, there was no significant correlation found between the left/right foot arches CSI-absolute values and either the children's gender or their overall physical fitness scores in both groups. ConclusionIt is recommended to pay closer attention to the health impacts associated with the non-dominant foot and high arches as the left foot is more susceptible to abnormal arches, with high arches being more prevalent than flat arches.Acknowledgment for funding support is to the Deanship of Research of Jordan University of Science and Technology (Grant No. 167/2020)

    SEASONAL AND INTERANNUAL VARIABILITY OF MIXED LAYER DYNAMICS IN THE ARABIAN GULF AND ITS IMPLICATIONS ON NUTRIENTS AND CHLOROPHYLL-A

    This study employs the climatological analysis of winds, currents, sea water temperature, and mixed layer depth (MLD) for the period 1993-2022 utilizing reanalysis data retrieved from Copernicus Marine Services (CMEMS). In addition, the hydrographic parameters (temperature, salinity, density, dissolved oxygen (DO), and pH), chlorophyll-a, and nutrients off the east coast of Qatar have been investigated using the measured data from 6 stations during November 2024. Sea surface temperature (SST) climatology indicates that the highest monthly mean temperature was estimated in August (35°C) and the lowest in February (15°C). The highest monthly mean wind speed was observed during February (~7m/s), followed by January (6.5 m/s) whereas the lowest wind speed was observed in August (3-4 m/s). Climatological analysis revealed distinct seasonal patterns in MLD, with the deepest mixed layer occurring in winter (41.4 m) and the lowest depth in summer (15.3 m). MLD variability is primarily driven by wind-induced mixing and surface cooling in winter, while increased temperature enhances stratification in summer. Measured hydrographic data revealed vertical homogeneity in far offshore regions (stations A3 and B3), while thermocline was observed in the nearshore regions. The presence of a halocline at station B3, at 20 m depth, indicates the existence of two water masses. The horizontal variability of the salinity range was <1, while density variability is confined to 1.0 kg/m³. DO is within the healthy limits, while nutrient concentrations varied: nitrite (0.03–0.66 μM), nitrate (0.02–1.82 μM), phosphate (0.17–0.54 μM), ammonia (0.04–1.56 μM), and silicate (1.78–7.67 μM). Validation of reanalysis data against in situ measurements showed a temperature bias of -0.86°C, Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of 0.92°C, and a correlation coefficient of 0.79. Long-term trend analysis of MLD reveals a deepening of the ML during 1993-2022 in all the select locations, except P1 (northern Gulf) and P5 (Strait of Hormuz). Although the trends showed contrasting patterns, the deepening rate of MLD along the east coast of Qatar was observed as 1m over 30 years, which is considered insignificant. The results highlight the importance of understanding the interactions between physical oceanographic processes, biogeochemical cycling, and other anthropogenic influences in regulating the Gulf's marine environment

    Mobile Payments in Health Crisis: A Comprehensive Approach to Analyzing Consumer Behavior in Emerging Markets

    This study investigates the primary elements that affect the acceptance of mobile payment systems (MPS) in emerging markets during health emergencies such as the COVID-19 outbreak. By integrating the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2) with the Health Belief Model (HBM), as well as incorporating constructs like trust and uncertainty avoidance, the research provides comprehensive insights into MPS usage behavior in emerging markets. Data were collected from 362 participants in Saudi Arabia via an online survey. The collected data underwent analysis using two methods: partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) and necessary condition analysis (NCA). The results indicate that the intention to adopt MPS is significantly influenced by perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, social influence, performance expectancy, effort expectancy, facilitating conditions, and trust. However, hedonic motivation does not exert a meaningful impact. Furthermore, uncertainty avoidance moderates the relationship between user intentions and the actual utilization of MPS, highlighting the cultural dimension's role in technology adoption during crises. These results offer valuable theoretical contributions by bridging health-related constructs with technology adoption frameworks, while also providing actionable insights for practitioners.     هذا البحث يُعنى ببيان الغاية من الطعن في البخاري وجامعه الصحيح، فهو في المآل محاولة لإقصاء السنة النبوية وزحزحة مصدريتها وتفكيكها، وهي المرجعية لهذه الأمة، ومصدر وعيها، وعصب حركتها ونهضتها. والهدف منه ليس إقامة الأدلة على صحة الجامع أو بيان مكانته، أو الجواب عن الأحاديث التي انتقدت عليه، بل ينحصر في الرد على من ظن أو زعم أن البخاري روى أحاديث باطلة معنىً ودلالة وتفرد بها، وأوهم أنه المسؤول عنها. ويكتسي هذا البحث أهمية تتجلى فيما يلي: 1- تبرئة البخاري مما رمي به من الكذب والاختلاق للأحاديث. 2- تحصين العامة من تلك الشبهات المغرضة لإسقاط السنة النبوية مصدر الهوية، ومرجعية الأمة. 3- تعرية هؤلاء الطاعنين باسم المنهج النقدي والحرية الفكرية. ومنطلق هذا البحث إشكاليات متعددة تتضمن أسئلة، منها: هل البخاري معصوم؟ وهل يوجد في جامعه حديث تفرد بروايته ولم يروه غيره؟ وهل يوجد فيه حديث تفرد بتصحيحه؟ وهل فيه حديث أخطأ فيه ورده النقاد في زمانه أو سكتوا عنه؟ وهل تفرد البخاري برسم شروط الصحيح دون غيره من الأئمة؟ وما قيمة المستخرجات على صحيح البخاري؟ وكيف سلم هؤلاء المنتقدون المعاصرون لصحيح البخاري بصحة تعقبات الدارقطني أو غيره دون مناقشة لذلك

    Phytocompounds in Precision Dermatology: COX-2 Inhibitors as a Therapeutic Target in Atopic-Prone Skin

    Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic, multifactorial inflammatory skin disease characterized by persistent pruritus, immune system dysregulation, and an increased expression of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), an enzyme that plays a central role in the production of prostaglandins and the promotion of inflammatory responses. In this study, we employed a comprehensive computational pipeline to identify phytocompounds capable of inhibiting COX-2 activity, offering an alternative to traditional non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. The African and Traditional Chinese Medicine natural product databases were subjected to molecular screening, which identified six top compounds, namely, Tophit1 (−16.528 kcal/mol), Tophit2 (−10.879 kcal/mol), Tophit3 (−9.760 kcal/mol), Tophit4 (−9.752 kcal/mol), Tophit5 (−8.742 kcal/mol), and Tophit6 (−8.098 kcal/mol), with stronger binding affinities to COX-2 than the control drug rofecoxib (−7.305 kcal/mol). Molecular dynamics simulations over 200 ns, combined with MM/GBSA binding free energy calculations, consistently identified Tophit1 and Tophit2 as the most stable complexes, exhibiting exceptional structural integrity and a strong binding affinity to the target protein. ADMET profiling via SwissADME and pkCSM validated the drug-likeness, oral bioavailability, and safety of the lead compounds, with no Lipinski rule violations and favorable pharmacokinetic and toxicity profiles. These findings underscore the therapeutic potential of the selected phytocompounds as novel COX-2 inhibitors for the management of atopic-prone skin and warrant further experimental validation

    Biochar-based slow/controlled-release fertilizer for sustainable agriculture: Recent advances, challenges and future prospects

    The excessive and inappropriate use of conventional fertilizer with high solubility leads to low nutrient use efficiency and environmental pollution through leaching, volatilization and surface runoff. Thus, slow/controlled-release fertilizer is urgently sought-after to mitigate environmental harm while alleviating crop production. Recently, biopolymer encapsulated biochar-based slow/controlled-release fertilizer has gained much interest due to its environmentally friendly nature and potential in supplying nutrients at a slower rate. This paper provided a comprehensive review of the nutrient loading capacity of various pristine biochar and modified biochar, and outlined three major fabrication processes (as nutrient carrier, additive and encapsulating material) of biochar-based slow/controlled-release fertilizer. This paper also evaluated the slow-release mechanism, effect of fertilizer on soil properties and plant growth as well as the recent advances on economic assessment. The formulation and modification methods of biopolymer were extensively discussed, and the effect of modification on the properties of biopolymer such as porosity, biodegradability, tensile strength, water resistibility and water solubility were also highlighted. An insight into the fertilization strategy including fertilizer coupled with placement method or pristine biochar was provided.
