The Effect of Negative Work Event on Burnout and Work Engagement : The Moderating Role of Emotion Regulation

    No full text
Employee emotional ups and downs in the face of big work events have a substantial impact on how well they accomplish their jobs. The effect of employees' subjective identification of stressful work events on burnout is examined in this study. According to the notion of emotional events, negative work events cause excessive emotional amplification and, as a result, emotional exhaustion. However, depersonalization and diminished personal accomplishment, two crucial components, are frequently ignored in the existing studies on burnout. To create a more thorough theoretical model of burnout, this study breaks down burnout into three categories. Furthermore, this study aims to analyze the association between negative work events, burnout, and work engagement as well as to examine the mechanisms influencing different emotion regulation tactics on the three aspects of burnout by incorporating emotion regulation as a moderating variable. With 244 full-time workers This study used a questionnaire survey method with three stages finished over two consecutive days, recruiting Taiwanese workers. Contrary to earlier study, however, high antecedent-focused emotion regulation did not effectively regulate the appearance of burnout, but high response-focused emotion regulation, as earlier research demonstrated, increased the appearance of burnout. Organizations might examine whether the work environment helps people control their emotions to execute their jobs more effectively. When presented with stressful work situations, employees will be more likely to choose coping mechanisms because of this study

Abusive Supervision and Employee Voice: The Mechanisms of Stressor Appraisals

    No full text
Abusive supervision is often heard in the workplace. According to previous studies, negative leadership behaviors have a significant impact on employees\ue2 subsequent work motivation and organizational behaviors. The negative interaction between supervisors and employees is also considered a workplace stressor. Employees may experience negative emotions that affect organizational behaviors or potentially bring about a competitive advantage that drives positive change. Drawing on the transactional theory of stress, this study explores the challenge-hindrance stressor framework to examine the indirect effects of abusive supervision on work engagement and subsequent serial mediation effects on voice. This survey data for analysis is derived from 234 full-time employees. Hierarchical regression analysis and a bootstrapping procedure were conducted to test the hypotheses. Implications and suggestions for future research were then addressed

    No full text
Based on the flexible conductor arrangement in the balanced multiple-phase machine, the objective of this research is to propose a scheme for the single-phase machine winding design reference. The process will provide guidance that the winding distribution generally relied on empirical experience and efficiently improve the machine\ue2s operational characteristics simultaneously. To establish the overall concept of the winding distribution for single-phase electric machines, a balanced three-phase induction machine will be the candidate to discuss the performance difference among various conductor arrangements. Otherwise, the procedure of designing a synchronous reluctance rotor structure based on the electrical results will also be demonstrated to describe the concept that the cooperation between electrical and mechanical characteristics. From the discussion of the multiple-phase machine, the development of the winding scheme for the single-phase machine will be proposed to combine the consideration of conductor distribution, current magnitude, and phase angle at the same time while the winding design process. However, to further comply with the increasingly harsh international specifications, the attempt to design the direct-on-line synchronous reluctance rotor from the result of the application of the proposed scheme will also be conducted. Finite element analysis emulations and laboratory measurements will respectively assist the research process and validate the availability of the scheme

Writing of Mother-Daughter Relationship in Chinese Women's Literature in the 1990s

    No full text
Abstract The inheritance of women's culture has long been concealed in the shadows of history, and as a result, the important role of the mother-daughter relationship in intergenerational structure has been difficult to capture people's attention and recognition. However, since the 1990s, with significant changes in social environment and cultural ideologies, women's writing in China has been flourishing and gradually become an undeniable literary trend in the current era. Many female writers, starting from their unique perspectives, focus on the growth experiences and gender experiences of women individuals. They delve deep into their own spiritual world, conduct profound analysis and interpretation of their own female experiences, and carve out a unique space within the confines of past cultural restrictions. Under the gaze of this fresh female consciousness in the new era, the unbreakable kinship between mothers and daughters has become a recurring and important theme in women's writing. This form of writing is endowed with the cultural significance of deconstructing patriarchal traditions and constructing the female subject. Thanks to the efforts of numerous female creators, the historical inheritance of matrilineal lineage has finally overcome the previously suppressed and obscured difficult circumstances and is now laid bare for all to see. This article is based on women's literature works from the 1990s, with representative novels as the research object. It applies feminist theory to attempt to delineate the multifaceted nature of mother-daughter relationship writing during this period from different dimensions. It aims to analyze the complex emotional connections among female subjects, explore innovative aesthetic tendencies, and uncover the underlying ideological and cultural significance behind this type of writing. The research on mother-daughter relationship writing in this article mainly consists of three parts. The first part begins by examining the complex and ever-changing emotional dynamics and connections between mothers and daughters from both the internal family structure and the external social environment. It analyzes the challenges of female identity that are hidden beneath confrontational conflicts. Under the dual impact of traditional patriarchal culture and the new era's cultural currents, the mother-daughter relationship takes on a complex undertone of sternness yet warmth, distance yet longing. Female writers of the 1990s deconstructed the "maternal myth" constructed by patriarchal culture and attempted to restore the true essence of women as "human beings." The second part delves into the innovative attempts made by female writers in the 1990s in terms of the content and intentions of their writing about the mother-daughter relationship. These female creators challenge and subvert the traditional male-centered culture by constructing a matrilineal genealogy completely dominated by women. They liberate women from historical silence and allow them to speak with their own voices, showcasing their true existence. This can be seen as a bold attempt by women writers in the new era to break through the barriers at the ideological level. The third part explores the unique narrative strategies of 1990s women's literature through the examination of mother-daughter relationships. During this period, female writers consciously departed from the tradition of grand narratives and shifted their focus to the inner world of women individuals. Through intimate and personalized writing, they challenged the mainstream male-dominated discourse system, enriched the forms of literary expression, and presented a fresh literary aesthetic paradigm. Overall, women's writing in the 1990s has made significant progress and development. The portrayal of the mother-daughter relationship in the hands of generations of female writers has presented a rich and diverse appearance. Such writing reflects the authentic self of women, expands the depth and breadth of women's literature, endows it with profound ideological and cultural value, and signifies the heightened awakening of women's consciousness in the new era

Energy Cascade in the Eurasian Basin of the Central Arctic Ocean: Case Study from the MOSAiC Expedition

    No full text
Thinning sea ice is expected to profoundly impact the Arctic Ocean and modify the energy cascade. We yield a case study using observations at the five selected depths derived from an autonomous buoy measuring upper-ocean temperature and salinity deployed during the MOSAiC expedition. Outputs from the Finite-volumE Sea ice-Ocean Model (FESOM2) are also used to aid interpretations. Along-track, sectional, horizontal wavenumber spectra of measured potential density from October 2019 to May 2020 are computed, along with referenced spectra using FESOM2 output. We focus on the slopes of the computed spectra at the spatial scales from 0.5\ue22 km to 25 km to investigate the forward energy cascade from the large to small scales. The results indicate that there exist two dynamically different regimes in the upper 100 m water column. One regime comprises the surface mixed layer and underlying cold halocline layer (CHL), with the other situating the upper pycnocline. Spectral slopes are within ~\ue23 and ~\ue22.3 in the surface mixed layer and within ~\ue25/3 and ~\ue21 in the upper pycnocline. The depth range in the CHL shows a change of the spectral slope from <\ue25/3 to ~\ue22 when the surface mixed layer is deepened in late winter, implying that intraseasonal variations of vertical stratification are important in regulating energy transfer. Stratification in FESOM2 is not fully in line with that derived from MOSAiC observations. Spectral slopes derived from FESOM2 output are mostly ~\ue23 regardless of different depth ranges or time periods, implying a hydrographic bias in the model needed to be investigated. Our work may provide some useful insights to improve future state-of-the-art ocean-sea ice models

Synthesis of Hydrophilic Viologen Polymers as Anolyte for Organic Flow Batteries

    No full text
This thesis focuses on utilizing viologen-based polymers as anolytes for aqueous organic flow batteries. Nucleophilic reactions are employed to graft viologen compounds onto poly(4-vinyl benzyl chloride) (PVBC) to give poly{N-4-vinylbenzyl-N'-[3-(trimethylammonio)propyl]-4,4'-bipyridinium dibromide chloride-co-(4-vinyl benzyl chloride)}. The study investigates the influence of different grafting ratios on the electrochemical properties of the anolyte in the aqueous organic flow battery. The electrochemical characteristics of three kinds of anode polymers with varying grafting ratios are examined in two parts. Firstly, cyclic voltammetry is employed to confirm that all three materials exhibit two pairs of redox peaks between -0.3V and -1.2V. Secondly, an aqueous organic flow battery is successfully assembled using the anode organic molecule 4-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl, and a 100-cycle life test is conducted. The results demonstrate that the material with the highest grafting amount exhibits the best capacitance retention. Furthermore, a copolymer, poly[(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-1-piperidinyloxy-4-yl methacrylate)-co-poly(ethylene glycol) methacrylate], denoted as P(TMA-co-PEGMA), is based on nitroxide radical and synthesized through radical polymerization. The electrochemical properties of this copolymer are investigated using cyclic voltammetry, revealing that its half-potential is higher than that of 4-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl. Therefore, it can be utilized as an cathode material for aqueous organic flow batteries
