The effect of different light intensities (0 Lux,125 Lux, 175 Lux, 225 Lux, 275 Lux, 325 Lux) on the chlorophyll amount of the Spinacia oleracea after a 12- hour lighting period measured by the spectrophotometer absorption rates.

I have always been interested in working with plants as far as I can remember since my grandmother loves gardening and has been growing different fruit trees and vegetables since my grandparents bought their house all the way back in the 1960s. That is why she was very excited when I told her that I was going to be working with spinach plants for my “school project” since spinach was one of the only plants that had never touched her garden and she has been meaning to grow them for a long time. I was first introduced to growing plants back in 4th grade when we were given a home task which was growing a bean sprout and were each given a single bean seed. I was fascinated by the fact that such a large plant could be formed by such a small seed just by leaving it under the sun and occasionally watering it which together with my grandmother’s enthusiasm was the reason that made me interested in growing a plant for my extended essay

Investigating different bactericidal effects of disinfectants and traditional methods on Staphylococcus Aureus and Escherichia Coli

Do disinfectants containing chemicals (active chlorine; ethyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol; active chlorine released from sodium hypochlorite, hydrogen peroxide) and non-chemical traditional methods (lemon juice, wine vinegar, and niaouli oil) have same bactericidal effects on Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia Coli as indicated by clear zone diameter formed in the blood-agar plate with the antibiogram test

The Impact of Sustainable Soil Management (SSM) Practises in Improving Soil Quality

To what extent do before and after sustainable soil management (SSM) practices (minimizing soil erosion, enhancing soil organic matter content, fostering soil nutrient balance and cycles, preventing and minimizing soil salinization and alkalinization, preventing and minimizing soil contamination, preventing and minimizing soil acidification, preserving and enhancing soil biodiversity, minimizing soil sealing, preventing and mitigating soil compaction, improving soil water management) affect the percentage of organic matter in soil in Yozgat Province

Does light strike our eyes as particle form or as wave form?

Ever since I was young, quantum physics has been one of the biggest factors that played a leading role in my desire to learn physics and one day do physics-related studies. This desire started with the movies I watched when I was little, involving the transition between multiverses and quantum physics, and a book I read about the famous physicist Albert Einstein and quantum called “Einstein and the Quantum” 1. Quantum physics constitutes one of the most fascinating and mysterious fields of science. The strange and complex behavior of particles goes beyond the rules of classical physics and therefore holds great appeal to me. Quantum physics also provides the basis for philosophical discussions, and in this sense, discussions have always attracted my observant personality to reach ccurate information

The Effect of Temperature on Young’s Modulus of Copper Wire

    No full text
The research question that this investigation aims to answer is: " How does the temperature affect Young’s modulus of a copper wire with diameter of 0.6 mm and length of 1.5 m?" The topic of this essay is to examine the correlation of temperature and Young's modulus of copper wire to present the behavior of elastic properties of copper with varying temperatures. The choice of copper as the material of this investigation is because of its major role in everyday technology and the possible implications that will help us to develop copper’s current applications. The goal of this essay might be useful for improving the performance of devices and systems that use copper components, especially in places with large temperature changes

Investigating the amount of skidding of a car when turning around a corne

    No full text
In this experiment I will investigate the effect of different radius lengths of a toy car on a rotating platform to compare the distance skidded when the platform rotates. I will rotate the platform with nearly the same speed as possible as I can, as I didn’t use any system to rotate it in a constant speed, then the toy car skidded out from the platform to hit the ground. I measured the distance between the center of the rotating platform and the center of the car and deduced relations between the radius and the distance skidded. I then inferred what is important while turning around a corner in real life

Observing and interpreting the level of plaque formation on individuals' teeth with the help of a survey, considering the variables, age and oral health knowledge.

Brushing teeth is one of the few things that a normal person does every day. But, why do we brush our teeth? The answer is to clean and to get rid of bacteria that can damage our teeth. So, what kind of forms do these bacteria cause to be observed on our teeth, and what will change in the appearance of our teeth if we do not clean them? What factors stand out in the appearance of our teeth? I also thought of my uncle, who is a dental professor, whom I can get helpful information about my research question. It was then I had the idea of doing a detailed research on this subject, getting useful information from it to implement to my own life and writing an extended essay on it
