Implementation and analysis of DNS security mechanisms

    Get PDF

Metal oxide and perovskite-based nanostructured materials as catalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction

[ENG] Metal/Air batteries are characterized by their use of atmospheric oxygen as the positive electrode. This principle, although seemingly simple, allows them to achieve specific capacities far greater than those of conventional lithium-ion batteries. Nevertheless, the most effective catalyst identified so far remains Platinum — highly efficient, yet prohibitively expensive. This limitation has encouraged the search for alternatives that do not rely on precious metals, while preserving —and ideally improving— the catalytic performance required. Within this framework, metal oxides and perovskites have emerged as promising candidates. These materials, in addition to being more affordable, have shown remarkable potential for catalyzing the Oxygen Reduction Reaction (ORR), a key process in the operation of these batteries. This study focuses on evaluating the catalytic properties of different LMO-based compounds, supported on various carbon structures, together with novel perovskites synthesized at our institution (UPCT). The main objective is to identify those materials capable of delivering outstanding performance in Metal/Zinc/Air battery cells. Note: In this study, LMO refers to Lanthanum Manganese Oxide (LaMnO3) which exhibits catalytic properties of particular interest for the Oxygen Reduction Reaction (ORR).Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería IndustrialUniversidad Politécnica de Cartagen

The festivity of Corpus Christi in Cartagena in the golden century as a civil claim for the identity of a city

[ENG] The Corpus Christi festival originated in the Middle Ages, but became the most important festival in the cities of the Hispanic Crown in the Golden Age. In the city of Cartagena, every year, this festivity was a space of sociability where all the social classes met around this celebration, in which the municipal power took centre stage in an opportunity to vindicate the role of the city council over the citizens and the civil order. The theatrical, para-theatrical and festive elements, typical of this event, were used for all this vindication. The study and description of these elements, their use, the contribution of data on the preparation of the festival, the intervention of the city council and the comparison with other cities will be the object of this work. It therefore offers a study of theatre and performance at Corpus Christi in Cartagena in the Golden Age, with a reflection on how this festival was used by the city council to express its power. It is also an opportunity to shed light on and rescue a part of the immaterial heritage of this city

Reproducing Cold-Chain Conditions in Real Time Using a Controlled Peltier-Based Climate System

Temperature excursions during refrigerated transport strongly affect the quality and shelf life of perishable food, yet reproducing realistic, time-varying cold-chain temperature histories in the laboratory remains challenging. In this study, we present a compact, portable climate chamber driven by Peltier modules and an identification-guided control architecture designed to reproduce real refrigerated-truck temperature histories with high fidelity. Control is implemented as a cascaded regulator: an outer two-degree-of-freedom PID for air-temperature tracking and faster inner PID loops for module-face regulation, enhanced with derivative filtering, anti-windup back-calculation, a Smith predictor, and hysteresis-based bumpless switching to manage dead time and polarity reversals. The system integrates distributed temperature and humidity sensors to provide real-time feedback for precise thermal control, enabling accurate reproduction of cold-chain conditions. Validation comprised two independent 36-day reproductions of field traces and a focused 24-h comparison against traditional control baselines. Over the long trials, the chamber achieved very low long-run errors (MAE≅0.19 °C, MedAE≅0.10 °C, RMSE≅0.33 °C, 2=0.9985). The 24-h test demonstrated that our optimized controller tracked the reference, improving both transient and steady-state behaviour. The system tolerated realistic humidity transients without loss of closed-loop performance. This portable platform functions as a reproducible physical twin for cold-chain experiments and a reliable data source for training predictive shelf-life and digital-twin models to reduce food waste. This research was funded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities (MICIU), with NextGenerationEU funds (PRTR-C17.I1) as part of the AGROALNEXT programme and through the FPU programme (grant number FPU23/00186). Robust Arbitrary Single Qubit Gates for NV Centers: Low-Field or High-Frequency Regimes

    Get PDF
Microwave control of the negatively charged nitrogen-vacancy (NV) defect in diamond is usually based on a two-level approximation of its ground state that is only valid in the regime of high bias magnetic fields or low microwave power. We present the NV-ERC technique, which has demonstrated efficient initialization and readout of the double quantum transition with no leakage to any third level, thanks to an effective Raman coupling. The protocol may be used in the low-field regime and for high-frequency sensing. Furthermore, we propose a scheme to perform fast single-qubit gates in the double quantum transition, consisting of pulse trains of constant frequency and intensity. We analyze its robustness with respect to pulse-timing errors resulting from inaccurate identification of system parameters or phase-control limitations. We also demonstrate that the technique can be implemented in the presence of unknown electric or strain fields
