    Mujer y posguerra en Cartagena a través de la memoria

    [SPA] La Guerra Civil y posguerra en España fueron periodos caracterizados por la miseria, el hambre, las enfermedades y la represión que afectaron a la inmensa mayoría de la población española. Por ello, y como ocurre en cualquier acontecimiento bélico, las mujeres también sufrieron los estragos de la guerra y las consecuencias de ésta, quedando incluso más afectadas tras la imposición de la dictadura franquista, régimen que las relegó a los parámetros anteriores a la II República siguiendo el modelo ideal de «ángel del hogar». No obstante, y a pesar de los esfuerzos por parte de la dictadura, la realidad de muchas de estas mujeres fue distinta. No pasaron desapercibidas en la vida cotidiana de los españoles y españolas, siendo protagonistas de la inmensa mayoría de los recuerdos de aquellos niños de la posguerra, hoy ancianos, que vivieron este periodo en primera persona. Es aquí donde las fuentes orales juegan un papel fundamental a la hora de reconstruir, completar y complementar la historiografía tradicional acerca de este periodo, contribuyendo al estudio de la mujer en el primer franquismo y poniendo en valor la memoria y los recuerdos de la infancia. En este trabajo se pretenderá conocer el modelo de mujer ideal impuesto por el régimen y si estos patrones eran seguidos por toda la sociedad femenina centrándonos en el espacio rural. [ENG] The Civil War and post-war periods in Spain were characterised by misery, hunger, disease and repression that affected the vast majority of the Spanish population. For this reason, and as in any war event, women also suffered the ravages of war and its consequences, being even more affected after the imposition of Franco's dictatorship, a regime that relegated them to the parameters prior to the Second Republic, following the ideal model of the «angel of the home». However, despite the dictatorship's efforts, the reality for many of these women was different. They did not go unnoticed in the daily lives of Spanish men and women, and are the protagonists of the vast majority of the memories of those post-war children, now elderly, who experienced this period first hand. It is here where oral sources play a fundamental role in reconstructing, completing and complementing the traditional historiography on this period, contributing to the study of women in the early francoism and highlighting the memory and recollections of childhood. The aim of this work is to discover the model of the ideal woman imposed by the regime and whether these patterns were followed by the whole of female society, focusing on rural areas

    Purpose as a strategic axis: analysis of its communication and alignment with the SDGs in the business context

    [SPA] El objetivo de este trabajo de fin de grado es analizar de forma objetiva y comparativa la comunicación del propósito corporativo y la alineación con los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) en las principales empresas españolas. Para ello, se seleccionaron las 100 compañías mejor posicionadas en el ranking Merco Responsabilidad ESG 2024, abarcando una amplia diversidad sectorial. La metodología combina el análisis de contenido de páginas web, informes de sostenibilidad y memorias anuales con apoyo de herramientas de inteligencia artificial, permitiendo transformar información cualitativa en variables cuantificables y comparables. El proceso incluyó la creación de una base de datos propia, la recolección manual y automatizada de información y la aplicación de criterios de codificación claros para garantizar la objetividad y replicabilidad del análisis. El estudio permite identificar patrones y tendencias en la comunicación estratégica de las empresas, así como diferencias sectoriales y de tamaño en la integración de los ODS y la transparencia. Además, se destacan buenas prácticas y retos pendientes en la coherencia entre el discurso y las acciones empresariales, subrayando la importancia de la transparencia y la alineación real con los retos globales de la Agenda 2030. [ENG] The objective of this final degree project is to objectively and comparatively analyze the communication of corporate purpose and its alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in major Spanish companies. To achieve this, the 100 top-ranked companies from the Merco Responsibility ESG 2024 ranking were selected, encompassing a wide sectoral diversity. The methodology combines content analysis of corporate websites, sustainability reports, and annual reports with the support of artificial intelligence tools, allowing qualitative information to be transformed into quantifiable and comparable variables. The process included the creation of a proprietary database, both manual and automated data collection, and the application of clear coding criteria to ensure objectivity and replicability of the analysis. The study makes it possible to identify patterns and trends in the strategic communication of companies, as well as sectoral and size-based differences in the integration of the SDGs and transparency. Furthermore, good practices and pending challenges are highlighted regarding the coherence between corporate discourse and actions, emphasizing the importance of transparency and real alignment with the global challenges set out in the 2030 Agenda.FACULTAD DE CIENCIAS DE LA EMPRESAUniversidad Politécnica de Cartagen

    Carnauba wax enriched with encapsulated plant essential oils into native β-cyclodextrins as an innovative wax coating on citrus fruits

    The incorporation of encapsulated essential oils (EOs) into postharvest non-edible wax coatings for citrus fruit surfaces is an innovative strategy to enhance the antimicrobial and antioxidant properties of these waxes. A thymol:eugenol (50:50) mix, encapsulated in native β-cyclodextrin, was incorporated into an innovative carnauba wax coating (CW-EOsβCD) applied to the surfaces of fresh mandarins and lemons. Wax without thymol:eugenol served as the carnauba wax control (CW). The quality of mandarins and lemons (weight loss, acidity, pH, soluble solids, surface color, firmness, decay incidence and surface microbial loads) was analyzed throughout cold storage (2 and 8 ºC for mandarins, and 8 ºC for lemons) for up to 30 d, followed by a commercialization simulation at 22 ºC for 5 d. Weight losses in CW-EOsβCD-coated lemons were 1.7 and 3.7 units lower after 30 d at 8 ºC and the subsequent commercialization period, respectively, compared to CW lemons. A similar trend was observed in mandarins. Additionally, CW-EOsβCD reduced firmness loss, maintaining 76 and 45 % higher firmness levels in lemons and mandarins, respectively, compared to CW samples at day 30 at 8 ºC, with similar results after the commercialization period. Overall, physicochemical quality and color of mandarins and lemons remained substantially unaffected throughout refrigerated storage and commercialization. However, decay incidences of CW mandarins and lemons after commercialization (25/38 % for samples previously stored at 8 ºC/2 ºC and 17 %, respectively) were highly reduced (more than 25 units) in CW-EOsβCD samples. Furthermore, microbial loads for mandarins and lemons remained very low (<1 log CFU cm−2) across all studied microbial groups (mesophiles, psychrophiles, yeasts and molds). In conclusion, the inclusion of encapsulated EOs within the wax coating (CW-EOsβCD) for mandarins and lemons effectively reduced weight loss, firmness loss and decay incidence while preserving other quality parameters

    The process of creating a simulation model, in particular using the System Dynamics methodology, is a complex and time-intensive task. It begins with a clear understanding of the problem, followed by the identification of key variables, and culminates in the construction of a Stock and Flow Diagram. Traditionally, this process has been laborious, requiring significant manual effort to translate a conceptual understanding into a functional model. With the advent of advanced AI tools like ChatGPT and Collaborative AI, this process can be significantly streamlined. This paper presents a personalized ChatGPT prompt, DAVID© (Draw A Vensim Initial Draft) that can automate the creation of a complete Vensim model, from problem description to a fully functional simulation. The importance of this tool, which is easy to use and modify, lies in the fact that it allows people who are not experts in creating simulation models to create them without prior training or experience

    Seamless remote roaming activation in LoRaWAN via an API-driven gateway bridge service

    The rapid expansion of the Internet of Things (IoT) landscape, notably in smart cities, smart metering, environmental monitoring, and smart agriculture, highlights the critical need for seamless and efficient device roaming within Long Range Wide Area Network (LoRaWAN) infrastructures. Although LoRaWAN shows great potential, its deployment faces significant challenges, especially under the constraints of the version 1.0 specifications, to enable efficient device mobility. This study introduces a comprehensive approach to enhance LoRaWAN-supported mobility, using three key advancements: the decoupling of Gateways (GWs) from the core network infrastructures to facilitate flexible deployments, the adoption of an adaptive GW-to-network connection protocol responsive to real-time traffic demands, and the enhancement of GW interoperability to provide dynamic and efficient network configurations. A notable innovation of this research is developing a mechanism that enables packet forwarding through an unidentified GW, eliminating the need for pre-established network agreements. The empirical evaluations of the article detail the effectiveness of the architecture in IoT applications, showcasing significant improvements in LoRaWAN’s roaming capabilities and reporting average latencies of up to 0.39 s in experimental tests. Extensive simulations with up to 100 roaming devices and 100 stationary devices further confirmed scalability, keeping the average roaming-to-stationary latency gap below 0.16 s and the worst-case end-to-end delay below 1.2 s even in highly congested scenarios.     Methods for Determining the High Molecular Weight of Hyaluronic Acid: A Review

    Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a key extracellular biopolymer whose molecular weight (MW) critically determines its physicochemical behaviour and biological functionality. Accurate MW characterization is therefore essential for applications ranging from tissue engineering to medical and cosmetic formulations. Although previous reviews have addressed general aspects of HA, they have only briefly summarized analytical approaches for MW determination. In contrast, the present review provides the first dedicated and comparative analysis of the three most widely used and practically relevant techniques—agarose gel electrophoresis, size-exclusion chromatography coupled with HPLC (SEC-HPLC) and intrinsic viscosity measurements. We examine recent methodological advances, including improved calibration strategies, optimized gel matrices, multi-detector SEC configurations, and updated empirical models for viscometric analysis. Particular emphasis is placed on how these innovations enhance accuracy, reproducibility and applicability across different HA size ranges and sample purities. By critically evaluating the strengths, limitations and sources of analytical bias of each technique, this review offers a consolidated framework to guide researchers and industry professionals in selecting the most appropriate method for reliable MW assessment. Overall, we highlight how methodological refinement is enabling more robust characterization of HA, even in highly polydisperse or complex samples
