Culture System and Nutrient Restriction Shape Antioxidant Activity in In Vitro Spearmint (Mentha spicata L.) Shoots
Full text linkSpearmint phytochemicals exhibit remarkable antidiabetic, antioxidant, and broad pharmacological activities. In vitro organ cultures offer an efficient and sustainable platform for enhancing the production of these bioactive metabolites, although optimized media and cultivation strategies are essential to maximize yields. Here, four Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium variants and three cultivation systems—agar-solidified, static-liquid (L), and agitated-liquid (LA)—were evaluated to assess phenolics, antioxidant capacity, antidiabetic potential, and metabolic biochemical markers in in vitro-grown spearmint shoots. Half-strength MS (MS/2) consistently produced the highest antioxidant activity and accumulation of phenolics and sugars across all systems. The MS/2–L combination markedly boosted antioxidant responses, increasing 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) values up to 27-fold and ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) values tenfold relative to full-strength MS. Antioxidant capacity strongly correlated with total phenolics, flavonoids, rosmarinic acid, antidiabetic activity, and carbohydrate levels. Lipid peroxidation analysis further revealed that shoots cultured under LA conditions showed the highest level of malondialdehyde (MDA) accumulation, whereas MSN/2 (half-strength nitrogen) consistently yielded the lowest MDA levels across all cultivation systems. Collectively, these results highlight the strong influence of nutrient availability and culture system on the metabolic performance of in vitro-grown spearmint. In conclusion, nutrient limitation combined with liquid cultivation effectively enhances antioxidant metabolite accumulation, providing valuable criteria for the future design and optimization of scalable bioreactor systems.This research was funded by the AGROALNEXT Program, financed by the MCIU with funding from European Union NextGeneration EU (PRTR-C17.I1) and by Fundación Séneca with funding from the Comunidad Autónoma Región de Murcia (CARM)

Full text link[SPA] Esta comunicación da a conocer las estrategias llevadas a cabo en el Centro Integrado de Formación Profesional (C.I.F.P.) Carlos III de Cartagena, con el propósito de favorecer una sociabilidad saludable y generadora de bienestar emocional. Se cree que el aprendizaje de tales estrategias puede extrapolarse en la práctica más allá del centro educativo, para aplicarse también al ámbito personal y profesional. Con dicho fin, se trabaja con el alumnado un proceso integral que contribuye al desarrollo de competencias tanto técnicas como interpersonales, preparando a los estudiantes para enfrentar los desafíos del mundo laboral de forma eficaz y contribuyendo a la empleabilidad. Se les prepara al mismo tiempo en la adquisición de conocimientos propios de la formación profesional y habilidades sociales, lo que permite el aprendizaje para el desarrollo de unas relaciones interpersonales adecuadas y un buen trabajo en equipo. La formación de buenos trabajadores es fundamental para el desarrollo local, la realización de tareas laborales de manera más efectiva, el uso de las TIC, adaptación a nuevas formas de organización... En este sentido, el C.I.F.P. Carlos III de Cartagena desempeña un papel fundamental en el proceso de socialización del alumnado, mejorando sus oportunidades laborales; aprendiendo habilidades para una sana sociabilidad o relación interpersonal.
[ENG] This communication introduces the strategies implemented at the CIFP Carlos III, in Cartagena, with the aim of promoting healthy social life and generating emotional wellbeing. It is believed that the learning of such strategies can be extrapolated in practices and behaviours beyond the educational centre, to also be applied to the personal and professional world. To make this come true, students are taught a comprehensive process that contributes to the development of both technical and interpersonal skills, preparing students to effectively face the world of work ́s challenges and contributing to employability. At the same time, students are prepared to acquire knowledge specific to vocational training and social skills, which allows learning to develop appropriate interpersonal relationships and good teamworking. The training of good workers is essential for local development, the performance of work tasks more effectively, the use of ICT, adaptation to new forms of organization.In this sense, the CIFP Carlos III of Cartagena plays a fundamental role in the process of socialization of students, improving their employment opportunities; learning skills for healthy sociability or interpersonal relationships
Grinding method and sulfate content influence on LC3 cement production using waste as spent fluid catalytic cracking catalyst (FCC) and marble dust
No full textThis article examines the effects of two grinding methods to producing Limestone Calcined Clay Cement (LC3), using two types of waste materials: fluid catalytic cracking residue (FCC) and marble cutting residue (MR). In the production of LC3 cement, the grinding process plays a crucial role in determining the quality of the final product. To ensure the proper reactivity of this new LC3 formulation, the sulfate content is carefully regulated by the addition of gypsum. The optimum sulfate content was investigated through several studies, and the reactivity of the cement pastes was examined using diverse techniques. The compressive strength of the mortars was assessed at various curing periods. The microcalorimetric studies determined that the optimum sulfate content for the mixtures was consistent across both grinding methods. No full textLa recomendación 61, objeto del presente comentario, desarrolla el principio 25 del Código de buen gobierno de las sociedades cotizadas 2020 relativo a la remuneración del consejo de administración de la sociedad. Siendo este uno de los aspectos claves en el gobierno de las sociedades cotizadas , la recomendación versa sobre un sistema concreto de retribución consistente en la entrega de acciones o de instrumentos financieros referenciados a su valor. Respecto de este sistema aconseja que forme parte de la remuneración variable de los consejeros ejecutivos y además en un porcentaje relevante. Dicha recomendación, en los términos en los que se encuentra redactada actualmente, fue introducida en el CBGSC en su versión de 2015, con el objetivo de que una parte importante de los honorarios de los consejeros ejecutivos estuviera directamente conectada con las posibles fluctuaciones en la riqueza del accionista
