PrimarWebQuests im bilingualen Mathematikunterricht:Potenziale des fachsprachlichen und fachbezogenen Kompetenzerwerbs an der Schnittstelle sprachlich-bilingualen, mathematischen und digitalen Lernens
Diese interdisziplinär zu verortende Arbeit fokussiert den bilingualen Mathematikunterricht und ist dem national und international relevanten Bereich Mathematik und Sprache zuzuordnen. Der Erkenntnisgewinn dieser Untersuchung trägt zur empirischen Fundierung möglicher Lernsettings bilingualen Mathematikunterrichts bei. Hierzu wird das fachbezogene und fachsprachliche Lernen bilingual unterrichteter Lernender eines vierten Schuljahres hinsichtlich des Größenbereichs Längen untersucht und der Beitrag des Unterrichtsansatzes PrimarWebQuest geklärt. Die Studie ist in der qualitativen Sozial- und Unterrichtsforschung zu verorten und folgt einer rekonstruktiv-interpretativen Methodologie.
Als Potenzial des Settings der Studie zeigt sich aus der sprachlich-bilingualen Perspektive ein Kompetenzzugewinn der Lernenden in beiden verwendeten Sprachen sowie hinsichtlich der metasprachlichen Reflexion. Darüber hinaus kann ein fachbezogener Kompetenzzugewinn aus der mathematischen Perspektive festgehalten werden, da die Lernenden ihre Längenkonzepte ausschärfen konnten und in der Lage sind, die Strukturen der zwei Längenmaßsysteme zu vergleichen. Gerahmt werden diese Potenziale aus der digitalen Perspektive durch den Beitrag des Unterrichtssettings, welches neben einem Zugewinn notwendiger Kompetenzen in einer digitalen Gesellschaft auch sprachsensibles und interkulturelles Lernen ermöglicht und somit den Grundsätzen des Content and Language Integrated Learnings folgt

The jadeitites from Syros and Tinos, Cycladic Blueschist Unit, Greece: field observations, mineralogical, geochemical and geochronological characteristics
This study illustrates the field relationships of jadeitite-bearing block-in-matrix sequences on Syros and Tinos, Cycladic Blueschist Unit, and adds additional U–Pb zircon ages for jadeitites to the geochronological database. The results confirm the importance of Cretaceous (c. 80 Ma) and Eocene (c. 50 Ma) processes in their geological evolution. Interpretations suggesting that the jadeitites were formed by complete metasomatic replacement of a pre-existing rock are not fully supported by field observations. In at least some cases, the formation of jadeitite is likely due to precipitation from Na-Al-Si-rich aqueous fluids, which also caused variable metasomatic alteration of the host rock. Unambiguous age constraints for formation of the Syros and Tinos jadeitites are not available. A relationship to Eocene blueschist facies metamorphism recorded in the associated metamafic rocks seems plausible. However, since high-pressure overprinting of pre-Eocene jadeitite is also conceivable, there is a much larger time window for jadeitite formation, framed by Cretaceous (c. 80–76 Ma) protolith ages of various mélange blocks and the waning stages of blueschist facies metamorphism (c. 40 Ma). Field observations are consistent with the interpretation that the mélange-like occurrences on Syros and Tinos record, to varying extent, multi-stage processes that include detachment of mafic rocks from the subducting plate, local infiltration of Na-Al-Si-rich aqueous fluids, exhumation via a serpentinitic matrix in a subduction channel and reworking of the primary block-in-matrix fabric by sedimentary or tectonic processes during accretionary wedge formation
Antioxidants Hydroxytyrosol and Thioredoxin-Mimetic Peptide CB3 Protect Irradiated Normal Tissue Cells
Reducing side effects in non-cancerous tissue is a key aim of modern radiotherapy. Here, we assessed whether the use of the antioxidants hydroxytyrosol (HT) and thioredoxin-mimetic peptide CB3 (TMP) attenuated radiation-induced normal tissue toxicity in vitro. We used primary human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and human epidermal keratinocytes (HaCaT) as normal tissue models. Cells were treated with HT and TMP 24 h or immediately prior to irradiation. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) were assessed via luminescent- and fluorescence-based assays, migration was investigated using digital holographic microscopy, and clonogenic survival was quantified by colony formation assays. Angiogenesis and wound healing were evaluated via time-dependent microscopy. Secreted cytokines were validated in quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) studies. Treatment with HT or TMP was well tolerated by cells. The application of either antioxidant before irradiation resulted in reduced ROS formation and a distinct decrease in cytokines compared to similarly irradiated, but otherwise untreated, controls. Antioxidant treatment also increased post-radiogenic migration and angiogenesis while accelerating wound healing. HT or TMP treatment immediately before radiotherapy increased clonogenic survival after radiotherapy, while treatment 24 h before radiotherapy enhanced baseline proliferation. Both antioxidants may decrease radiation-induced normal tissue toxicity and deserve further pre-clinical investigation
From a microscopic inertial active matter model to the Schrödinger equation
Active field theories, such as the paradigmatic model known as 'active model B+', are simple yet very powerful tools for describing phenomena such as motility-induced phase separation. No comparable theory has been derived yet for the underdamped case. In this work, we introduce active model I+, an extension of active model B+ to particles with inertia. The governing equations of active model I+ are systematically derived from the microscopic Langevin equations. We show that, for underdamped active particles, thermodynamic and mechanical definitions of the velocity field no longer coincide and that the density-dependent swimming speed plays the role of an effective viscosity. Moreover, active model I+ contains an analog of the Schrödinger equation in Madelung form as a limiting case, allowing one to find analoga of the quantum-mechanical tunnel effect and of fuzzy dark matter in active fluids. Preserflo MicroShunt versus Trabeculectomy: Efficacy and Surgical Success within a Heterogenous Patient Cohort
To compare success rates of trabeculectomy (TE) and Preserflo MicroShunt (PMS) in heterogenous glaucoma cohorts with regards to different pre- and postoperative therapeutic regimens. Data of 187 glaucoma patients who either received TE (73 eyes) or PMS implantation (114 eyes) between January 2018 and December 2022 were retrospectively evaluated. Surgical success and failure rates were analyzed within six months of follow-up. Intraocular pressure (IOP) development over the course of follow-up was compared between both groups. Tertiary outcome measures were best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), number and type of medications, frequency of postoperative complications and revision surgeries. Outcome measures underwent additional assessment based on subgroup categorizations, and failure time hazard ratios were computed. The success rates were comparable between both procedures (TE: 54.1%, PMS: 60.0%; p = 0.17). Both procedures showed significant IOP reduction (p < 0.01); however, overall IOP reduction was greater in the TE group than in the PMS group (TE: Reduction by 12 mmHg (188.9%), PMS: Reduction by 7 mmHg (51.3%); p = 0.01). The number of topical medications decreased significantly in both groups over the course of follow-up (TE: 4 to 0, PMS: 3 to 0; p < 0.01). While the number of complications and revision surgeries were similar in both groups, the time interval until the first revision surgery within the TE group was significantly shorter (TE: 13.5 d, PMS: 163 d; p = 0.01) than within the PMS group. No difference could be detected between TE and PMS with regard to the follow-up regimen. In particular, there was no significant difference in the need for 5-floururacil injections postoperatively (p = 0.29). Less invasive glaucoma surgery with the PMS appeared comparable to the TE within a heterogenous glaucoma cohort with regards to IOP development and freedom from medication
Qualitative Cost-Benefit Analysis of Corona Vaccinations and Vaccine Mandate
COVID-19 führt seit zwei Jahren weltweit zu schweren Erkrankungen, Todesfällen und drastischen Gegenmaßnahmen. Mit sehr schnell entwickelten Impfstoffen haben sich viele Menschen in Deutschland impfen lassen. Zur weiteren Erhöhung der Impfquote wird über eine zuvor ausgeschlossene Impfpflicht intensiv diskutiert. Eine qualitative Kosten-Nutzen-Analyse spricht dagegen, da zumindest subjektiv die Kosten für einige Ungeimpfte erheblich sind und auch nach intersubjektiven Kriterien der Nettonutzen einer Impfung nicht für jeden eindeutig positiv ist. Die Wohlfahrt ist höher bei individuellen Wahlmöglichkeiten, z. B. nach einem Beratungsgespräch, durch eine Prämie fürs freiwillige Impfen oder umgekehrt mit einer Geldzahlung Ungeimpfter zum Ausgleich der Kosten anderer aus der unterlassenen Impfung.COVID-19 has led to serious illnesses, deaths and drastic countermeasures around the world

a mandate, since at least subjectively the costs for some unvaccinated people are considerable
and, even according to intersubjective criteria, the net benefit of a vaccination is not clearly
positive for everyone. The welfare is higher with individual choices, for example after a
consultation, through a premium for voluntary vaccination or, conversely, with a monetary
payment by unvaccinated people to compensate for the costs to others from the failure to
vaccinate
Imaging the Area of Internal Limiting Membrane Peeling after Macular Hole Surgery
Background: The aim of this study was to compare en-face optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging and confocal scanning laser ophthalmoscopy (cSLO) imaging at different wavelengths to identify the internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling area after primary surgery with vitrectomy and ILM peeling for macular hole (MH). Methods: In total, 50 eyes of 50 consecutive patients who underwent primary surgery with vitrectomy and ILM peeling for MH were studied. The true ILM rhexis based on intraoperative color fundus photography was compared to the presumed ILM rhexis identified by a blinded examiner using en-face OCT imaging and cSLO images at various wavelengths. To calculate the fraction of overlap (FoO), the common intersecting area and the total of both areas were measured. Results: The FoO for the measured areas was 0.93 ± 0.03 for en-face OCT, 0.76 ± 0.06 for blue reflectance (BR; 488 nm), 0.71 ± 0.09 for green reflectance (GR; 514 nm), 0.56 ± 0.07 for infrared reflectance (IR; 815 nm) and 0.73 ± 0.06 for multispectral (MS). The FoO in the en-face OCT group was significantly higher than in all other groups, whereas the FoO in the IR group was significantly lower compared to all other groups. No significant differences were observed in FoO among the MS, BR, and GR groups. In en-face OCT, there was no significant change in the ILM peeled area measured intraoperatively and postoperatively (8.37 ± 3.01 vs. 8.24 ± 2.81 mm2; p = 0.8145). Nasal-inferior foveal displacement was observed in 38 eyes (76%). Conclusions: En-face OCT imaging demonstrates reliable postoperative visualization of the ILM peeled area. Although the size of the ILM peeling remains stable after one month, our findings indicate a notable inferior-nasal shift of the overall ILM peeling area towards the optic disc

Der Text untersucht die Darstellung der menschlichen Sinne in den Autos sacramentales von Calderón de la Barca. Es wird erläutert, wie die Sinne oft als Quellen der Versuchung und moralischen Verfehlung dargestellt werden. Gleichzeitig wird diskutiert, dass die Sinne an sich nicht schlecht sind, sondern ihr Missbrauch durch den Menschen. Calderón verwendet eine christliche Perspektive, um den Kampf zwischen den äußeren, verführerischen Reizen und der inneren, spirituellen Führung durch den Verstand darzustellen. Die Diskussion umfasst auch die Hierarchie zwischen den Sinnen, wobei das Hören aufgrund seiner Verbindung zum Glauben hervorgehoben wird.El documento analiza la representación de los sentidos humanos en los autos sacramentales de Calderón de la Barca. Se explica cómo los sentidos a menudo se presentan como fuentes de tentación y caída moral.
