Document Management Systems Landscape at CERN
Over the years, the workflows and the activities carried out at CERN have resulted in a variety of software solutions used to manage, store and track digital records. Based on an analysis1 of the document management systems (DMSs) currently used at CERN, this document aims at providing guidelines to users, allowing their needs to be matched with the features and functionalities of the DMSs supported by CERN. The list of DMSs included in this document was approved by the Steering Group on Externally Provided Software, Systems, Hardware and Services (STEPS)2 in October 2024. Any future requests that cannot be satisfied by the listed DMSs will have to be reviewed against the existing capabilities and workflows, evaluated by the STEPS Technical Committee and approved by STEPS before additional document management systems are introduced
Updates of the ATLAS High-Level Trigger in Run 3
The main reconstruction and simulation software framework of the ATLAS experiment, Athena, underwent a major change during the LHC Run 3 in the way the configuration step of its applications is performed. The new configuration system, called ComponentAcumulator, emphasises modularity and provides a way for standalone execution of parts of a job, as long as the inputs are available, which allows unit-testing of individual components or groups of components, as well as easier debugging. The switch to the new configuration system of the High-Level Trigger (HLT) software, which utilises Athena algorithms for object reconstruction and hypothesis testing, required designing a special approach to prevent disruption of data taking during the code migration to ComponentAccumulator. An additional challenge is brought by a large amount of HLT chains, where in many cases copies of the same algorithm with varying configurations are used, which significantly increases the number of configured parameters compared to offline reconstruction jobs. This report describes migration of the HLT software to ComponentAccumulator along with further improvements in the data acquisition introduced for Run 3 data taking

The ambiguous nature of cosmic ray PeVatrons
Understanding which are the Galactic sources responsible for the production of the highest energy cosmic rays is one of the main task of the High Energy Astrophysics. This long standing problem has recently received new lymph thanks to the results obtained from ground-based high energy gamma-ray detectors like HAWC and LHAASO. Those experiments have shown that the Galaxy is full of PeVatrons, namely sources able to produce particles up the impressive energy of Peta electronvolts. Probably the most impressive result is that, contrary to past expectations, different type of sources seem to work as PeVatrons, like pulsar wind nebulae, supernova remnants, stellar clusters and micro quasars. However, at the moment, it is unclear if the knee region of the CR spectrum is dominated by a single type of sources or is rather the convolution of several different classes. Moreover, the pour angular resolution of the mentioned detectors often prevent one to precisely identify the source nature. In this talk I will review the present status of the field.</p
Heavy-ion physics highlights from ATLAS
Recent measurements from heavy-ion collisions from the ATLAS experiment are reviewed. They include jet-radius dependence of dijet asymmetry, flow at high-pt, pt fluctuations in lead-lead and xenon-xenon collisions, observation of top-quark pair production in proton-lead and lead-lead, search for diffusion wake, photonuclear dijet production and search for magnetic monopoles
Workshop on Neutrinos at CERN
This two-day workshop, fostered at CERN by the CERN Neutrino Platform and Physics Beyond Colliders, is aimed at discussing opportunities for performing neutrino physics experiments at CERN using existing, planned, and proposed facilities. The goal is to bring together neutrino physicists to explore these opportunities and provide input for the European Strategy for Particle Physics Update (ESPPU)
