Charge Transfer Between Ce and Fe During Cooling of an Aluminosilicate Melt: An In Situ XANES Investigation
International audienceMultivalent elements are often incorporated to silicate glasses to enhance specific properties to the final product. However, these properties strongly depend on the redox state of the multivalent elements. While the redox behavior of glasses containing a single multivalent element is well studied, research on the in situ interaction between multiple multivalent elements is scarce. In this study, in situ XANES spectroscopy was used to investigate the high temperature redox state of both Ce and Fe in an aluminosilicate melt. The results were compared to room temperature measurements. Our findings demonstrate that, at high temperature equilibrium, Ce and Fe act independently. However, upon cooling below 900°C, a charge transfer process occurs between the two elements as described by the reaction Ce4+ + Fe2+ → Ce3+ + Fe4+. The existence of such a charge transfer, observed even in melts doped with very low Ce and Fe amounts, could suggests that both elements are not randomly distributed in the melt. The intensity of the charge transfer process depends on the CeO2/FeO ratio, with the element present in excess showing minimal change in redox state upon cooling. This explains the difference of room temperature redox state between samples

Simulation of irradiated hybrid planar pixels modules at fluences expected at HL-LHC
International audienceSignal loss is the main limitation on tracking/vertexing performance due to radiation damage effect to hybrid pixel detectors when irradiated at fluences expected at High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC). It is important to have reliable predictions on the charge collection performance after irradiation in order to predict operational voltage values and test tracking algorithms robustness. In this paper the validation of combined TCAD and Monte Carlo simulations of hybrid silicon planar pixels sensors will be presented. In particular different trapping models will be compared to identify the one giving the best predictions. Eventually predictions on the collected charge performance of planar pixels modules at HL-LHC will be discussed

Understanding success factors of Class B enterprises in Chile: a pioneering study on socially and environmentally responsible entrepreneurship
International audienceInnovative entrepreneurship drives economic and societal progress by introducing novel products, services, and business models. Class B enterprises stand out for harmonising profitability with exceptional social and environmental performance, yet their success factors remain underexplored. This study examines the success factors of Class B enterprises in Chile across five strategic dimensions. Using a descriptive and empirical approach, in-depth surveys were conducted with 34 of the 74 registered Class B companies in Chile. Statistical analysis revealed critical success factors shaping their performance, including the entrepreneurial ecosystem, access to clients, education quality, and support networks. Notably, 81% of entrepreneurs highlighted the ecosystem as pivotal. These findings provide valuable insights into the operational dynamics of Class B enterprises, underscoring the importance of external influences. This pioneering study enriches the literature by offering a comprehensive analysis of success factors in socially and environmentally responsible entrepreneurship in Chile and Latin America
