    Applications of bluetooth low energy (BLE) technology in mobile applications

    U teorijskom dijelu rada opisana je Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) tehnologija s posebnim naglaskom na njezine karakteristike, BLE beacone, prednosti i primjene u različitim industrijama. BLE tehnologija omogućuje bežičnu komunikaciju uz nisku potrošnju energije, što je čini pogodnom za IoT uređaje, mobilne aplikacije te industrije poput trgovine, prometa i zdravstva. Detaljno su objašnjeni BLE beaconi, koji oglašavaju informacije korisnicima putem mobilne aplikacije. Praktični dio rada obuhvaća razvoj Android aplikacije BLE Advert koja koristi BLE beacone za interakciju s korisnicima na događaju. Aplikacija omogućuje korisnicama primanje podataka koje beaconi oglašavaju u stvarnom vremenu, ovisno o njihovoj udaljenosti do beacona. Koristeći hibridni protokol između Eddystone i iBeacon protokola, beaconi prenose sporedne brojeve, glavne brojeve i URL, a aplikacija korisnicima prikazuje preneseni URL u obliku web stranice unutar sučelja aplikacije. Organizatori događaja mogu koristiti aplikaciju za praćenje interakcija korisnika s beaconima, čime optimiziraju njihovo korisničko iskustvo i organizacijske strategije. U svrhe simuliranja rada aplikacije, korišteni su nasumično generirani podaci koji bih se inače prikupili tijekom interakcije korisnika s beaconima na stvarnom događaju. Na kraju rada provedena je obrada nasumično generiranih podataka za bolje razumijevanje uspješnosti događaja.The theoretical part of the thesis describes Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology, with a special emphasis on its characteristics, BLE beacons, advantages, and applications in various industries. BLE technology enables wireless communication with low energy consumption, making it suitable for IoT devices, mobile applications, and industries such as retail, transportation, and healthcare. BLE beacons, which advertise information to users through a mobile application, are explained in detail. The practical part of the thesis involves the development of an Android application called BLE Advert, which uses BLE beacons to interact with users at an event. The application allows users to receive data advertised by beacons in real time, depending on their distance from the beacon. Using a hybrid protocol between Eddystone and iBeacon protocols, the beacons transmit minor numbers, major numbers, and URLs, and the application displays the transmitted URL as a webpage within the app interface. Event organizers can use the application to track user interactions with beacons, optimizing their user experience and organizational strategies. For the purpose of simulating the app's functionality, randomly generated data, which would otherwise be collected during user interaction with beacons at a real event, was used. At the end of the thesis, the randomly generated data was processed to get a better understanding of how successful the event was

    An automated system for animal feeding

    Zadatak završnog rada je bio razviti, izgraditi i testirati sustav za automatiziranu ishranu životinja bez prisutnosti ljudskog faktora pomoću IoT sustava. Bilo je potrebno omogućiti daljinsko upravljanje i nadzor, prebrojavanje nahranjenih životinja te uvid u preostalu količinu hrane. Rad se sastoji od ESP32-CAM, koračnog motora s „driverom“ , ESP32 komponenti napajanih iz prijenosne baterije i kućišta hranilice. Opisano je programsko rješenje sustava uz pomoć web aplikacije i detekcije objekata modelom.The task of the final paper was to develop, build and test a system for automated animal feeding without the presence of the human factor using the IoT system. It was necessary to enable remote management and monitoring, counting of fed animals and insight into the remaining amount of food. The work consists of an ESP32-CAM, a stepper motor with a driver, ESP32 components powered by a portable battery and a feeder housing. The program solution of the system is described with the help of a web application and the detection of objects by the model

    Razvojem mobilnih uređaja i društvenih mreža, korisnici žele imati sve informacije dostupne i vjerodostojne. Oglašavanje verbalnim putem gotovo pa više i ne postoji te ljudi vjeruju osobnom profilu, odnosno portfelju različitih osoba. Društvene mreže više nisu samo mjesto za upoznati ljude i uživati, već postaju mjesto za pronaći osobu za posao, verificirati iskustva osobe. Bitno je održavati osobni profil i predstaviti se u najboljem svijetlu na društvenim mrežama jer je to dodatni način vrednovanja osobe. Aplikacija diplomskog rada pokušava riješiti upravo taj problem. Pružajući novu platformu korisnici mogu upoznati i pronaći osobu za čuvanje njihovih ljubimaca, te također i dijeliti svoja iskustva sa drugim osobama. Objava može biti za čuvanje ili društvena, svaka objava ima dio za tekst i dio za sliku, ali objava za čuvanje mora imati i cijenu i adresu. Korisnicima je također omogućeno označavati osobu sa „Sviđa mi se“ te ju komentirati i dijeliti svoja mišljenja o njoj. Za kreiranje same aplikacije bilo je potrebno kreirati čitavog sustava koji odgovara funkcionalnim zahtjevima same aplikacije i odlučilo se za serversku i mobilnu Android aplikaciju sa udaljenom bazom podataka, Firebase Storage udaljenim računalom u oblaku i Google Maps Api servisom za prikazivanje karte i dohvaćanje informacija o adresi. Za programski jezik je odabran Kotlin jer odgovara izradi kako mobilne tako i serverske aplikacije. Za udaljenu bazu podataka je odabrana PostgreSQL baza podataka zbog njezine jednostavnosti, primjene i prijašnjeg poznavanja. Također, za kod izrade Android aplikacije prati se najmoderniji tehnološki alati, biblioteke i programski okviri pa tako za izradu korisničkog sučelja se koriste Jetpack Compose i Material, a čitava aplikacija je napisana unutar Model-View-ViewModel + Clean arhitekture. Aplikacija poštiva sva pravila modernog razvoja mobilnih aplikacija pa tako i Unidirectional flow i programiranje sa reaktivnim tokovima programiranja.With the development of smartphones and social networks, users want to have all the information available and trustworthy. Advertising by word is almost non-existent and people increasingly believe a person’s profile. Even though social networks are a place to connect with people, they are increasingly becoming a place to find the right person for the job and a tool to verify a person’s job experience. Maintaining a personal profile and introducing itself in the best way possible is important. The application of this master’s work is trying to solve exactly that problem. By providing a new platform the users can share their experiences with other users. A post can be for caring for pets and a social one. Each post can have a picture and text, but a caring post needs to also have the price and address of the user. Users can also like a post or comment their opinions on it. To create the application, it was decided to go with the server and Android application with the remote database, Firebase Storage as a cloud and Google Maps API service for showing maps and getting information about an address. For a programming language, it was decided to use Kotlin because it suits both server and Android applications. For the remote database, PostgreSQL was chosen due to its simplicity, usage, and knowledge. Also, for making the Android application the latest tech stack and tools were used. For the UI framework, the application uses Jetpack Compose with Material and the whole application Model-View-ViewModel + Clean architecture. The application follows all the modern rules for developing an application, so it has Unidirectional Flow and reactive programming

    Impact of the parameters of the SMOTE algorithm for handling class imbalance

    sažetak (hrvatski): U radu je istražen problem skupova podataka sa svojstvom neuravnoteženosti klasa koje otežava klasifikaciju manjinske klase, te mogućnosti rješavanja tog problema primjenom algoritma SMOTE, koji pruža preuzorkovanje podataka stvaranjem sintetičkih uzoraka manjinske klase s ciljem postizanja ravnoteže između klasa. Posebna pažnja posvećena je analizi utjecaja različitih postavki parametara algoritma SMOTE, uključujući broj susjeda i broj generiranih sintetičkih uzoraka, na performanse klasifikacijskih modela. Eksperimentalna analiza provedena je koristeći više klasifikatora, pri čemu su rezultati ocjenjivani F-1 i G-Mean mjerama. Pokazalo se da pažljivo odabrane postavke parametara mogu značajno poboljšati učinkovitost klasifikacije, dok nepravilne postavke mogu dovesti do prekomjerne prilagodbe podacima za treniranje i smanjenja performansi. Zaključeno je da se parametri algoritma SMOTE trebaju prilagoditi specifičnostima skupa podataka i klasifikatora kako bi se postiglo poboljšanje učinkovitosti klasifikacije.abstract: The paper explores the issue of datasets with class imbalance, which complicates the classification of the minority class, and the possibilities of addressing this problem using the SMOTE algorithm , which enables data resampling by creating synthetic samples of the minority class with the aim of achieving balance between classes.. Special attention is given to analyzing the impact of different settings of SMOTE algorithm parameters, including the number of neighbors and the number of generated synthetic samples, on the performance of classification models. The experimental analysis was conducted using multiple classifiers, with results evaluated by the F-1 and G-Mean metrics. It was shown that carefully selected parameter settings can significantly improve classification performance, while incorrect settings can lead to overfitting to the training data and reduce performance. It is concluded that the parameters of the SMOTE algorithm should be adjusted to the specific characteristics of the dataset and the classification model to achieve classification efficiency improvements.

    Book Compass: a web application for finding and recommending books based on personal interests

    sažetak (hrvatski): U ovom radu prikazuju se procesi izrade i implementacije web aplikacije za preporuku knjiga. Glavni problem bio je kreirati aplikaciju koja omogućuje korisnicima pretraživanje i pronalaženje knjiga prema njihovim preferencijama, koristeći API za preuzimanje informacija o knjigama. Aplikacija je izgrađena uz pomoć TypeScript-a, koji je odabran zbog svoje sposobnosti da poboljša sigurnost i pouzdanost koda, te React.js-a za frontend dio. Iako je korišteni API za preuzimanje podataka o knjigama imao ograničenja u kvaliteti informacija, aplikacija je uspješno razvijena i postavljena na cloud putem Railway platforme, koja omogućuje automatsko ažuriranje koda i osigurava jednostavan pristup aplikaciji putem javnog URL-a. Rezultat je funkcionalna aplikacija koja nudi pretraživanje knjiga, registraciju, prijavu te personalizirane preporuke.This paper presents the development and implementation of a web application designed to recommend books. The primary challenge was to create an application that allows users to search for and discover books based on their preferences, utilizing an API for retrieving book information. The application was built using TypeScript, chosen for its ability to enhance code safety and reliability, alongside React.js for the frontend. Despite limitations in the quality of data provided by the chosen book API, the application was successfully developed and deployed to the cloud via the Railway platform, which enables automatic code updates and provides easy access to the application through a public URL. The result is a functional application that offers book search, user registration, login, and personalized recommendations

    Ovaj rad prikazuje razvoj web aplikacije za prodaju odjeće korištenjem tehnologija Node.js za backend, Vue.js za frontend, SCSS za stiliziranje, te MySQL za bazu podataka. Analizirana su dva slična rješenja, „Travis Scott Official Store“ i „GolfWang“, kako bi se identificirale najbolje prakse i pristupi ovom zadatku. Detaljno su opisane komponente korisničkog sučelja, uključujući početnu stranicu, stranice za prijavu i registraciju, prikaz proizvoda i stranicu za naplatu. Opisane su različite uloge korisnika - registrirani korisnici, gosti i administratori. Programsko rješenje obuhvaća strukturu baze podataka, backend implementaciju s autentifikacijom korisnika i upravljanjem košaricom te frontend komponente koje omogućuju interaktivno korisničko iskustvo.This paper goes over the development of a web application for selling merchendise clothes using Node.js for the backend, Vue.js for the frontend, SCSS for styling and MySQL for the database. In the paper, two similar solutions were analyzed: „Travis Scott Official Store“ and „GolfWang“, to identify the best practices and approaches for the task. The components of the user interface are described in detail, including the home page, login and registration pages, product display, and checkout page. The different user roles - registered users, guests, and administrators - are also described. The software solution encompasses the database structure, backend implementation with user authentication and cart management, as well as frontend components that enable an interactive user experience

    Generation of pseudorandom and modulated signals and their analysis in the time and frequency domain

    Ovim se završnim radom proučava modulacija signala preko Matlaba i analiza mjerenjem u laboratoriju. Signali se generiraju programski i šalju u obliku Excel dokumenta na program Ultra Station. Nakon postavljanja određenih parametara signali se šalju na funkcijski generator i analiziraju preko osciloskopa u vremenskoj domeni i spektralnog analizatora u frekvencijskoj domeni. Glavni problem je način na koji se signali generiraju i mogu analizirati bez problema. U ovom je slučaju korišten programski paket Matlab zbog mogućnosti generiranja složenih signala na jednostavan način. Svaki modulirani signal dijeli sličnu Matlab skriptu uz malu promjenu. Signali se analiziraju na način da se za pojedini signal odredi frekvencija i amplituda. Potrebno je dokazati tvrdnju da parametri odgovaraju onima koji su korišteni prilikom generiranja signala u Matlabu. Kod frekvencijske domene frekvencijski spektri signala prikazuju se na spektralnom analizatoru. Rezultati mjerenja vrijednosti na različitim frekvencijama uspoređuju se s onima koji se dobiju u idealnim uvjetima preko Matlaba (proračun). Na taj se način može prikazati da vanjski čimbenici i šum mogu utjecati na rezultate analize signala u laboratoriju.This paper focuses on generating pseuod-random modulated signals with Matlab and their analysis in a laboratory. Signals are generated with software and are sent as an Excel type document to Ultra Station. By setting adequate parameters, signals are sent to the function generator and analyzed with an oscilloscope in time domain and spectral analyzer in frequency domain. The main problem is how the signal is generated and analyzed without a problem. In this case Matlab is used by generating the signals with a Matlab script because of the efficiency in making complex signals much easier. All the modulated signals share quite the same Matlab script considering some slight changes how the modulation is executed in some signals. Signal are analyzed by measuring their frequency and Amplitude in time domain. It is important to see that the parameters on the Oscilloscope are identical to the ones used for generating the signals in the Matlab script. In frequency domain frequency spectrums of signals are shown on the spectrum analyzer. Results by measuring amplitudes of frequency components are compared to results obtained by using the Matlab software in ideal conditions. It is possible that noise and other outside factors can have an effect on results obtained by measuring in a laboratory

    Analysis of 3G and 4G network throughput records for video streaming service

    U radu se opisuje prilagodljivo videostrujanje putem HTTP-a te MPEG DASH norma koja osigurava glatko videostrujanje s najvećom mogućom kvalitetom korisničkog iskustva. Rad se bavi analizom propusnosti 3G i 4G mreža za uslugu videostrujanja. Analizirano je pet statističkih raspodjela: Gaussova, Nakagami, Gamma, Weibull i Rician. Rezultati Kolmogorov-Smirnovog testa pokazali su da nijedna od ispitivanih raspodjela ne odgovara svim podacima. Ipak Nakagami, Gamma i Weibull su bolje prilagođene određenim skupovima podataka. Dodatno je analizirana Weibull raspodjela za 3G i 4G mrežne zapise kod kojih je Kolmogorov-Smirnov test istinit. Ova analiza pruža važan uvid u ponašanje propusnosti 3G i 4G mreža za usluge videostrujanja.The paper describes adaptive video streaming via HTTP and the MPEG DASH standard, which ensures smooth video streaming with the highest possible quality of user experience. The paper deals with the analysis of the bandwidth of 3G and 4G networks for the video streaming service. Five statistical distributions were analyzed: Gaussian, Nakagami, Gamma, Weibull, and Rician. The results of the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test showed that none of the examined distributions fit all the data. However, Nakagami, Gamma, and Weibull are better adapted to certain data sets. Additionally, the Weibull distribution was analyzed for 3G and 4G network records where the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test is true. This analysis provides important insight into the bandwidth behavior of 3G and 4G networks for video streaming services

    Creating a web quiz using the Material Design 3 package

    U ovom završnom radu opisan je postupak izrade kviz aplikacije pomoću paketa Material Web. Aplikacija je uspoređena sa drugim dostupnim aplikacijama, te su zatim ukratko opisane tehnologije koje su se koristile pri izradi aplikacije. Također je napravljena usporedba sa prethodnom inačicom Material Design smjernica. Definirani su funkcionalni i nefunkcionalni zahtjevi aplikacije i baza podataka koju koristi aplikacija. Klijentski dio aplikacije izrađen je pomoću React.js razvojnog okvira koji omogućuje uporabu komponenti za dijelove korisničkog sučelja, a poslužiteljski dio aplikacije izrađen je pomoću programskog jezika PHP koji omogućuje komunikaciju s bazom podataka. Komponente korištene u aplikaciji su opisane po poglavljima. Nakon opisa komponenti prikazan je primjer prilagodbe izgleda Material Web komponenti. Nakon toga prikazan je izgled gotove aplikacije.This thesis describes the process of developing a quiz application using the Material Web package. The application is compared with other available applications, and the technologies used in the development process are briefly described. A comparison with the previous version of the Material Design guidelines is also made. The functional and non-functional requirements of the application, as well as the database it uses, are defined. The client-side of the application was developed using the React.js framework, which allows the use of components for parts of the user interface, while the server-side was developed using the PHP programming language, which is used for communication with the database. The components used in the application are described chapter by chapter. After the component descriptions, an example of customizing the appearance of Material Web components is presented. Finally, the appearance of the finished application is shown

    Analysis and proposal of differential protection of transformers in parallelly operation

    U ovom diplomskom radu analizirana je diferencijalna zaštita transformatora, s posebnim naglaskom na problematiku kada su transformatori povezani u paralelni pogon. Diferencijalna zaštita predstavlja temeljnu relejnu zaštitu energetskog (mrežnog) transformatora koja odgovara isključivo na kvarove koji se događaju unutar njezine zaštitne zone. Kroz rad su objašnjene osnovne karakteristike diferencijalne zaštite, posebnosti diferencijalne zaštite transformatora te fenomeni inrusha i simpatetskog inrusha. Simulacije su izvršene koristeći programski paket DIgSILENT (Power Factory) u kojem su prikazani rezultati simulacija za različite scenarije. Spomenuti scenariji prikazuju unutarnje i vanjske kvarove te postupak energizacije transformatora. Dobiveni rezultati simulacija potvrdili su važnost pravilnog podešenja diferencijalne zaštite transformatora u paralelnom pogonu te prikazali mogućnosti i potencijalne poteškoće pri njezinom korištenju.This thesis analyses the differential protection of transformers with special emphasis on problems that may occur when transformers are connected in parallel. Differential protection represents the basic relay protection of the power transformer which, responds only to the malfunctions that occur within its protection zone. The thesis also explains the basic characteristics of differential protection, the peculiarities of transformer differential protection, and the phenomena of inrush and sympathetic inrush. The simulations were performed using the DIgSILENT software package (Power Factory) in which the simulation results for different situations are presented. The mentioned situations show internal and external malfunctions and the process of energizing the transformer. The obtained results of the simulations confirmed the importance of the correct settings of the differential protection of the transformer in parallel operation and presented the possibilities and potential difficulties in its use
