Depth Estimation from Defocused Images: A Survey

    No full text
An important step in 3D data generation is the generation of depth map. Depth map is a black and white image which has exactly the same size of the original captured 2D image that indicates the relative distance of each pixel from the observer to the objects in the real world. This paper presents a survey of Depth Perception from Defocused or blurs images as well as image from motion. The change of distance of the object from the camera has direct relation with the amount of blurring of object in the image. The amount of blurring will be calculated with a comparison in front of the camera directly and can be seen with the changes at gray level around the edges of objects

Real Time Detection of R – Peak in QRS Complex of ECG using Microcontroller

    No full text
Real-time detection of R peaks in QRS complex of ECG signal is the first step in the processing of ECG waveform. Based on this, various other ECG parameters can be extracted. These parameters provide substantial information about various heart diseases. In this paper, we are proposing a method to detect R – peaks of ECG signal dynamically. The most prominent role in the R – peak detector is executed by the microcontroller. This method originates by acquiring signal from the subject and necessary pre-processing is carried out on the signal in order to achieve the denoised signal. Subsequently, this filtered signal is handed over to microcontroller where a pulse is generated for each R – peak that is found in the QRS complex of ECG signal. The microcontroller is embedded with a signal processing algorithm. The algorithm used to determine the R – peaks is double differentiation method which is straightforward and robust.

High Frequency Transformer for Ship Electrical Power System

    No full text
The system represented during this paper uses 3 matrix converters and a high frequency electrical device to attain isolation and voltage transformation from primary to secondary aspect. Two matrix converters manufacture high frequency voltage across a transformer, with open all over primary. a 3rd matrix device converts the high frequency cut voltage to line frequency. The non-idealities like outflow inductance of the electrical device have a big impact on the device performance. This paper studies the impact of outflow inductance on the regulation of the output voltage of the device. The simulation study has been carried out in SIMULINK and also the results are presented

Implementation of Robust Tracking Algorithm on Nano-Computer

    No full text
In this work, we developed the NSSD-DT method, which allows us to track a target in a robust way. This method effectively overcomes the problems of geometrical deformation of the target, partial occlusion and allows recovery after the target leaves the field of view. The originality of our algorithm is based on a new model, which does not depend on a probabilistic process and does not require data-based beforehand. Experimental results on several difficult video sequences have proven performance benefits. The algorithm is implemented on a BCS 2835 system based on a quad core ARM processor, it is also compared to the software solution. NSSD-DT can be used in several applications such as video surveillance, active vision or industrial visual servoing

E-Referral System Modeling Using Fuzzy Multiple-Criteria Decision Making

    No full text
Currently, the quality of health services in Indonesia is getting better. However, the referral system still has some problems. The first is the difficulty in determining the referral hospital by the condition of the patient. The second is the different parameters used to determine the referral hospitals between countries. Based on those problems, it is necessary to improve the ability of the current referral system. This study developed a reference system model for assessing the suitability of the patient's background with the referral hospital. Some of the methods used are restful on web service technologies for information exchange between primary health care doctors and referral hospitals, Fuzzy Multiple-Criteria Decision Making (FMCDM) to determine the ranking of referral hospitals that fit the patient's background. The result of this study is an intelligent system model to get the referral hospital that fit the patient's background

Structural Health Monitoring Sensor based on A Flexible Microstrip Patch Antenna

    No full text
A microstrip patch antenna strain sensor operating at dual frequencies 1.8GHz and 2.4GHz have been designed based on the relation between the resonant frequency and the strain applied to it. Felt substrate with a height of 3mm and dielectric constant of 1.44 and shield conductor are used for the design of this antenna. Testing results show that the resonant frequency of the microstrip patch antenna is 1.78 GHz and 2.4 GHz, which agrees with the simulation. The resonant frequency of the microstrip patch antenna increases linearly with the increase of the applied strain. This microstrip patch antenna strain sensor can be integrated with other components easily and have a great potential applications in structural health monitoring systems

Swarm Based Cross Layer Optimization Protocol for WMSN

    No full text
Wireless Multimedia Sensor Network (WMSN) is comprised of tiny, low cost multimedia devices such as video cameras and microphones. These networks can transfer scalar as well as multimedia data into real time as well as non-real time applications. However addition of such devices exposes additional challenges on both QoS assurance and energy efficiency for efficient use of resources.  This paper presents cross layer based AntSenseNet protocol to meet various QoS requirements such as throughput, jitter, lifetime and packet delivery ratio in order to improve network lifetime. Cross layer routing protocol utilizes scheduling algorithm and AntSenseNet protocol builds hierarchical structure and able to use multipath routing protocol.  Simulation results shows Cross layer based AntSenseNet protocol outperforms Ant Sense routing protocol and cross layer routing protocol in terms of throughput and packet delivery ratio

Study of Load Optimization and Performance Issues in Cloud

    No full text
“Nowadays, cloud computing is the latest computing platform which is feasible to the user for computation and unlimited storage and data transmission with minimal cost and time in a cloud environment during the internet. The load balancing is important criteria of cloud environment that avoid same nodes overloaded and others are idle. Ultimately load balancing can enhance the QoS parameters including make span, cost and resource utilization. To optimize the load, the existing load optimization approach is properly utilized federation mechanisms, which offers physical resources based on demand to maintain the cloud application efficiency. However, the technique failed to optimize load where part of the servers suffering from heavy load after an execution of the application. In the current scenario, several systems are facing same kinds of problem which is the biggest cause to increase the virtual machine (VM) cost. Current systems still have a time delay, request-response process error from data center side in cloud environments. To overcome these issues, the research study studies all related technique for cloud performance optimization and load balancing issues. The main framework objective is to offer an effective solution to store/search/transmit/ data with minimal cost and time without compromising the QoS constraints. The study represents different policies and cloud-specific strategies to enhance the performance of cloud application with minimal cost and time. The research study is also planning to find out an effective solution for traffic, data congestion and media streaming issues in a cloud environment
