Voice assessments for detecting patients with Parkinson’s diseases in different stages
Recently, a wide range of speech signal processing algorithms (dysphonia measures) aiming to detect patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD). So we have computed 19 dysphonia measures from sustained vowels collected from 375 voice samples from healthy and people suffer from PD. All the features are analysed and the more relevant ones are selected by the Principal component analysis (PCA) to classify the subjects in 4 classes according to the UPDRS (unified Parkinson’s disease Rating Scale) score. We used k-folds cross validation method with (k=4) validation scheme; 75% for training and 25% for testing, along with the Support Vector Machines (SVM) with its different types of kernels. The best result obtained was 92.5% using the PCA and the linear SVM
A Grid-Connected Photovoltaic Interface System for Delivering Active and Reactive Powers
This paper presents a grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) interface for delivering both active and reactive powers. The PV interface employs H-bridge topology DC-DC converter and inverter with analog control technology. The power flow is controlled solely by the adjustable DC output voltage of the DC to DC converter. In order to evaluate the PV interface system’s performances, it is tested by delivering power to the grid with low pawer factor. The experimental results show that at 300W active load, the inverter could deliver the reactive power of 400VAR. The PV interface could also produce very low harmonic voltage and current distorsions. The laboratory measurements show that the total harmonic distortions of inverter output voltage and current are 0.46% and 0.05%, respectivel
Activities Written by Prospective Primary Teachers on Realistic Mathematics Education
It is important for students to connect with real life in mathematics courses. The aim of this study is to investigate the activities which are written by prospective primary school teachers in the context of Realistic Mathematics Education. This research is a case study of which data were collected by qualitative methods. The participants of the research included 81 prospective primary teachers who are junior students attended primary teacher department. It was asked them to write an activity suitable for primary mathematics curriculum by considering Realistic Mathematics Education principles. They were given one month to write the activities. The activities written by prospective teachers analyzed by descriptive methods in terms of learning domains, types of context and principles of Realistic Mathematics Education. Totally 36 activities were written by prospective teachers. Based on the analysis, it was observed that not all the context was exactly real life context. It was determined that prospective teacher could not distinguish routine word problems from real life problems. It can be said that theoretical knowledge of Realistic Mathematics Education was inadequate for writing activities and prospective primary teachers need to practice on writing activities regarding the mentioned theory
Multiple Human Body Postures Detection using Kinect
This paper presents a method to detect multiple human body postures using Kinect sensor. In this study, a combination of shape features and body joint points are used as input features. The Kinect sensor which used infrared camera to produce a depth image is suitable to be used in an environment that has varying lighting conditions. The method for human detection is done by processing the depth image and joint data (skeleton) which able to overcome several problems such as cluttered background, various articulated poses, and change in color and illumination. Then, the body joint coordinates found on the object are used to calculate the body proportion ratio. In the experiment, the average body proportions from three body parts are obtained to verify the suitableness of golden ratio usage in this work. Finally, the measured body proportion is compared with Golden Ratio to determine whether the found object is a real human body or not. This method is tested for various scenarios, where true positive human detection is high for various postures. This method able to detect a human body in low lighting and dark room. The average body proportions obtained from the experiment show that the value is close to the golden ratio value
Dealing with Voters’ Privacy Preferences and Readiness in Electronic Voting
Various countries have been encouraged to adopt electronic voting because it can reduce operational cost and time spent for tabulation process. In the current research, it has been mentioned several problem arised in term of technical aspects, voters’ trust, machine vulnerabilities and privacy right in which experts argued the election system have been compromised. In short term, the certain faction will try to exploit the system weaknesses for their own benefit, while in the long term, it can create public distrust to the government, which decrease the voters turn out, break the participation willingness and downgrade the quality of voting. Thus, the government should deal with previous issues in the election before adopting electronic approach while at the same time align with voters’ expectation to provide better election in serve citizen through comprehensive analysis. This study provide initial step to analyse the readiness of electronic voting from the social perspective in response to how Indonesia view the initiative to adopt new tech in voting system
Type-2 Fuzzy Logic in Pair Formation
This paper gives an overview of Type-2 Fuzzy sets (T2FSs) and Type-2 fuzzy Logic system (T2FLS) considering one aviation scenario. The existing type-1 Fuzzy system has limited capability to handle the uncertainty directly. In order to overcome the limitations of Type-1 fuzzy Logic system (T1FLS), a next level of fuzzy set is introduced, that is known as T2FSs. Here we will discuss about: Type-2 fuzzy sets, type-2 membership functions, inference engine, type reduction and defuzzification. Pair formation is the undertaken aviation scenario which is very critical in a fighting situation. Crisp data are taken by the sensors of aircraft and with the techniques of data fusion, a constant decision is passed whether two aircrafts can achieve pair formation or not. Experiments are evaluated and performance is compared with ground truth and existing T1FLS, which proves better in terms of decision making while a certain amount of uncertainty is present
A Modular and Extensible Framework for Human Resource System
Human Resource is an essential part for an organization and integration of technology would just enhance the effectiveness. One of the scope that Human Resource must take note is performance and productivity. However, there is still no infallible or highly reliable way to measure productivity and performance of an organization and its employees for current industrial Human Resource systems. There is still possible improvement that can be made to the system in the current time. The purpose of this study is to propose a modular and extensible framework of Human Resource systems that used to measure the performance and productivity of an organization. This study compares the different criteria of existing Human Resource systems to ensure the proposed framework would surpassed the current real world industrial system. The results of the review provide insights for important criteria in HR system to increase the accuracy of the performance review. This study also constructs Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD) to demonstrate the logical structure of the proposed framework. The ERD will form the foundation of the proposed framework to improve the Human Resource system for evaluating the productivity and performance of an organization
Optimal Reactive Power Dispatch using Crow search Algorithm
The optimal reactive power dispatch is a kind of optimization problem that plays a very important role in the operation and control of the power system. This work presents a meta-heuristic based approach to solve the optimal reactive power dispatch problem. The proposed approach employs Crow Search algorithm to find the values for optimal setting of optimal reactive power dispatch control variables. The proposed way of approach is scrutinized and further being tested on the standard IEEE 30-bus, 57-bus and 118-bus test system with different objectives which includes the minimization of real power losses, total voltage deviation and also the enhancement of voltage stability. The simulation results procured thus indicates the supremacy of the proposed approach over the other approaches cited in the literature

A CORDIC based QR decomposition technique for MIMO detection
CORDIC based improved real and complex QR Decomposition (QRD) for channel pre-processing operations in (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) MIMO detectors are presented in this paper. The proposed design utilizes pipelining and parallel processing techniques and reduces the latency and hardware complexity of the module respectively. Computational complexity analysis report shows the superiority of our module by 16% compared to literature. The implementation results reveal that the proposed QRD takes shorter latency compared to literature. The power consumption of 2x2 real channel matrix and 2x2 complex channel matrix was found to be 12mW and 44mW respectively on the state-of-the-art Xilinx Virtex 5 FPGA
