51 pag.Thompson Reuters, the information company owner of ISI, the worldwide impact journal database, has announced in the past two years, the addition of 700 new regional journals, 80 of whom are journals of Latin-American publishers, which equates to 11%. Including regional journals as formal policy reflects a new policy and expansion’s strategy implemented by the Web of Science in order to strong content access to the international research community, focusing in local perspectives as well as regional issues. As a result, such increasing would promote and enabling greater access to publish in specialized indexed journals both academic and researchers.
Within this context, this study intends show how critical the Web of Science information is, not only from a bibliographic point of view, but also as a tool to fostering institutional decisions. Moreover Chilean journals publisher will have access to quantitative analysis through compared citation patterns. Similarly the author states how crucial the availability of previous research is to reach methodological quality
