Estudio basado en parte de la investigación realizada por la autora para la obtención del título de Bibliotecario Documentalista, dirigido por los Profesores Sr. Guillermo Toro Araneda y Sr. Héctor Gómez Fuentes, Escuela de Bibliotecología, Universidad Tecnológica Metropolitana.During 2013, the Library of the National Congress of Chile has been working with the new treatment standards for personal authorities, applying Resource Description and Access (RDA) and Functional Requirements for Authority Data (FRAD) to 164 registries of senators and representatives that are also authors. As a result of the incorporation of the new cataloguing regulations and functional requirements, the registries of authority have been enriched in terms of amount of information able to be added in new MARC fields. However, the recovery and visualization of such information is complex and must be accessible for all citizens. It is with this purpose that an ontological work has been modeled and developed. Its domain is of 15 registries out of the 164 mentioned above, and it contains the information found in the bibliographic system, so as to be able to offer users a better searching experience, because a tool such as ontology improves precision in recovering information, increases the amount of information that can be visualized and recovered, provides attractive visualizations for users and, most importantly, it enables the generation of relations between registries, which enriches the search experience of the user

It is proposed that the social of librarians working in university library stock, can vary, leading to university libraries that can reach different groups of people, without distinction, collaborating with its closest external community. The article also presents the work of a group of librarians who work in the Library of the University of Concepcion, Campus Chillan. Which through an effective and systematic social engagement, forming assume new roles, working with the new educational model, which requires somehow help reduce the inequality that makes a difference in the quality of life of citizens

No full text93 pag.In Chile the results of the Transparency and Access to Information Law adopted in 2009 have shown the need to improve records management practices in public institutions. However, there is still a lack of formally trained and experienced records managers and archivists to lead the process. For this reason many entities recruit librarians for these jobs, librarianship being the nearest available professional profile. This paper is an introduction to records management and archives aimed at Chilean librarians who are approaching this field for the first time especially in state institutions. In the text I try to make a "conceptual bridge" from the logic of librarianship towards the logic of records/archives management, highlighting particular issues that may be sources of misunderstanding among the "librarian/archivists" because they are new concepts foreign to the standard librarian´s world view
