ARTICLE I P1E:
The name of this chapter shall be the Greater Toledo ~rea Chanter of the national Orqanization, Inc. (1-1O'.'!). It shall exist and operate as a unit thereof.

The purpose of the r.reater Toleno 1\.rea Chanter shall be to take action to hrinq "Tomen into full participation in the mainstream of lUnerican society , NOH, exercising all the privileges ann. responsibilities thereof in trUly equal partnership Hith men. SECTION VI OFFICF.R~ ·
Section 1 . Ther e shall be t'·70 Co-Coordinator~, a ~ecording Secretary, a Corresnond1ng ~ecretarv, a Treasurer, a ~tate Council Delegat e, and such officers as ~ay be established bv t hese bv-laNs .
Section 2. All officers , excent Task Force Chairpersons, shall be elected at the annual meetinq to he held in December and shall hold office for one year or until their successors take office. ~o officer shall be eligi hl e for more than t\-JO (2) consecutive ter~s in the same office. Officer!'=; shall take office upon adjournment of the meeting at ~J7hich thev "Tere elected. 1\11 out·-qoiner officers ~hall immediately turn over to their successors a comnlete record of all transactions pertaining to that office, including any records received form their nredecessors.
Section 3. In the event of a vacancv in an elective office, the Board of Directors shall annoint a mern~er to the office for the unexnired terM.

T e 'Proaram Coordinator shall nre!=li.de nt all meetings of the chanter and of the Board of Directors~ and shall be responsible for the aqenda and nrOqrnffi of all meetings of the chanter and the Board . ~he Proa,ram Coor~inator shall nerform such duties as are directed bv the Board of Directors, and shall be an ex-officio Member of all t ask forces except the Nominating Commi ttee, but shall not be a chairoerson of any t ask force. The Proqram Coordinator, in the absence or inahilitv of the Proj ect Coordinator, shall perform the duties of the Project Coor dinator.
Section 2. The Project Coordin tor shall coordinate all Task Force activities . This shall include suonlvinq necessary assistance to Task Forces nd their Chairnersons and acting as a communications coor dinator bv receiving monthly reports from all Task Forces and coordinating the oresentation of these reports at chanter meetings . ~ll Task Force actions shall be cClnun.unicated to the Proj ect Coordinator. The Project Coordinator, in the absence or in ility of the 'Progr am Coordinator, shall perforM t~o duties ~f t~e Progr~ Coordinator, sh~ll perform such duties as are directe bv the Board, shall be an ex-officio member of all '!'ask Forces except the 'lominating Committee, but cannot he Chairnerqon of any ~ask Force. •

5 TO GO! NOW SEES ERA VICTORY AHEAD
With its legislative predictions for 1974 becoming fact right on schedule, the National Organization for Women (NOW) is close to the realization of a primary goal --ratification of the Equal Ri ghts Amendment as the 27th amendment to the H.S. Constitution.
By the end of the first six weeks of the new year, the wo rk of NOW members in Maine, Montana and Ohio helped to bring about t ho se states' ratification of the ERA. In Georgia, more conservative forces won the final vote, but NOW's legislative experts point out t ha t the Georgia vote is a victory of sorts. In 1973, says Ann Scott, NOW Legislative Vice President, the amendment was bogged down i n committee,
with the year-long efforts of NOW and partner organizations seen as the motivation for removal from committee to the vote .
Never an organization to "rest on laurels,lt accord i ng to Ms. Scott, NOW chapters i n the remaining 17 states which hav e not yet ratified the amendment are making use of the impetus started i n the early weeks of 1974. "Our nationwide program of constituent lobbying and our network of state legislative coordinators backed by NOW 's Legislative Office in Washington along with our Public Informa t ion Office in New York are mak i ng a difference in national efforts for ratification of the ERA well before the nation's Bicentennia1. "

in states where th e amendmen t has a l ready been ratified, fund-raising efforts and other projects designed to assi st the activities in unratified states have been organized hy NOW chapters. In nallas, fo r example, members of Dal las County NOW won cash nrizes for their culinary expertise at the Texas State Fair, with the prize money donated to NOW' s special F.~A Fund.
Ratification by only fi ve more states is needed for the Equal Rights Amendment to become the newest Constitutional amendment. With their prediction r eco rd ho lding thus far in the new year, NOW's legislative coordinators are looking to Illinois and Florida as likely states to ratify the ERA in upcoming months, with Louisiana, Oklahoma and Missouri as strong possibi lities .
A major nationwide goal of the over 700 NOW chapters in the United States has been to achieve ratification of the ERA before the nation's 200th year, 1976. "With NOW's countdown for the ERA pr esently at 'five to go'," Ms. Scott says, "we feel confident that victory for the cause of equal rights for women is near."
