Conscience as a call in communion with God in the light of Joseph Ratzinger´s reflection
Uz Crkvu bit će spomenuto i društvo. The thesis will deal with the theme of communion between God and man, in which conscience is the main path to that communion. From the very beginning, God wants to enter into an alliance with man, he wants communion with him. The first part of the study will cover the cover the work of Joseph Ratzinger: On Conscience. In that part of the paper, the work will be briefly presented and how Ratzinger views conscience. In the following part of the study, we will deal with the question of conscience in the context of wrong and right understanding, and how John Henry Newman and St. Paul understands it. Furthermore, we will deal with the Church as a community and how it can influence the formation of believers, but also of conscience. Along with the Church, society as such will also be mentioned. A society in which an individual lives, but also builds himself, that is, how a person can build himself in a society where self-love reigns. Finally, the study will cover the topic of communion with God, to which we are all called, and which we reach with the help of love and faith, which helps us to persevere on the way to God. In the following, the study will show what this communion with God is, towards which God's voice leads us. Likewise, the study will deal with the topic of solitude as a place of conversation with God and a place of listening to a God's voice
Bio-ethical controversies of prenatal and preimplantation diagnostics
Samim time degradira se fetus i njegova svetost i nepovredivost ljudskog života.
O toj problematici značajno progovara i Katolička Crkva u svojim brojnim dokumentima s ciljem očuvanja dostojanstva svakog čovjeka od ranog začeća.The development of bio-technology has strongly influenced the entire medical profession, which also affected the field of perinatal medicine.
Perinatal medicine is as sociated with numerous bioethical controversies of the eugenic mentality, based on the underestimated biological-anthropological and legal status ofthe human embryo.
Prenatal diagnostics carries out numerous interventions, using invasiv eand non-invasive methods and tests, that can be performedin the prenatal period with the purpos eof "timely" detection of potential diseases and malformations. With those tests, itispossible to detect a number of diseases, including recessively inheritedones.
Although abortion is the leading immoral method of "treatment" of any detected diseases, prenatal diagnosis should retainitst herapeutic nature, the purpose of which is medical and surgical fetal treatment.
Pre-implantation diagnostics is related to the embryo created: invitro, and its most frequent purpose is the discriminatory implementation of implantation, exclusively, of good and healthy embryos. This alone degrades the fetus and it´s sanctity and inviolability of human life.
The Catholic Church also speaks significantly about this issue in its numerous documents with the aim of preserving the dignity of every human being from early conception
Development of palliative care
This Master thesis aims to present the mail stages of the development of palliative care in the Republic of Croatia.
Palliative care is described as specialized medical care aimed at people suffering from serious, terminal illnesses.
Since 2012, significant developments have taken place throughout the activities of the implementation and organization of palliative care in Croatia. Years later, palliative care is implemented more intensively within hospitals, but the first hospice in Croatia is also opened.
One of the most essential components of palliative care is spirituality, which is inevitable, throughout a person's life, especially so when dealing with difficult moments such as illness. Therefore, a priest clergyman has an irreplaceable role in the palliative care team. A sick person, who is at the very end of their life, is often known to be looking for God's representative is very important to them, and can be of the most significance in that time. Even if that person hasn’t turned to God through her’s life, the above described yearning sometimes occur, even when a person might not have been religious the entire life.
The ethics of palliative care are closely related to spirituality. Special emphasis is placed on human dignity at the very end of the life
Mary in the Gospel of Luke
It is known that Mary was a girl before the arrival of the angel, who spent her childhood in the
city of Nazareth. We can assume that as an ordinary girl growing up, she also had a picture of
her life in her mind, but she certainly never thought that her life would be affected by divine
intervention. That she did not hope for such a change in her life is evidenced by her confusion
at Gabriel's unusual greeting as well as the announcement that she will conceive a child by the
Holy Spirit. Even though Mary thinks completely humanly, this in no way weakens her faith in
God. On the contrary, believing in God's omnipotence, she accepts what was told to her by the
Lord. However, it should be said that Mary, as the mother of Jesus, whose father is God himself,
did not lose her identity as an earthly mother who cares and whose care sometimes comes
before God's will. This is most noticeable through Luke's childhood gospel, where Mary, as a
faithful servant of God, is once again overwhelmed by the confusion, fear and worry to her Son.
Through a careful analysis of the account of Jesus' childhood, Luke makes it possible to see in
Mary as the Mother of God the further gradual building of her faith in the plan that God has
with her Son, and in addition, in Luke's gospel is best manifested Mary's identity as a disciple
of her son Jesus who is the Son of God
Earthquake - traumatic experience and opportunity for strengthening resilience through spirituality
This paper speaks about traumatic experiences and effects of spirituality on resilience of those who went through trauma. In Petrinja, in December 2020., there were devastating earthquakes one of which was felt in whole of Croatia and neighbouring countries. As the result of earthquake, lives were lost, and many people were left without family home. All of that can affect people’s mental health. This thesis is primarily directed towards understanding spirituality as effective and important mechanism of resilience.
In the first part of this research 3 subjects were involved, 2 female and 1 male, they answered 8 questions in an interview. Test subjects are staying or living in area affected by earthquake and help people struck by traumatic experience of an earthquake. Results show that spirituality and religion are important mechanism of strengthening resilience. Traumas don't push subjects away from God but bring them closer to God. All three subjects agreed that their resilience is affected by faith, trust in God, sacramental life, prayer, and Holy Scripture. Second part covers 163 test subjects across the Republic of Croatia, 55 male and 108 female, of which 88 persons experienced earthquake in the last year and nine months and 75 persons who have not experienced earthquake in the last year and nine months. Results show that higher spirituality relates to higher resilience. That connection is stronger among persons who have not experienced earthquake. Therefore, there is connection between spirituality and resilience among the people who have and who have not experienced earthquake in the last year and nine months
Medicus christianus - alter Christus
On je savršeni liječnik, primjer svim današnjim liječnicima i zdravstvenim djelatnicima.
Illness, pain and suffering, has been present since the very beginnings of humanity. According to universal univodidance, it is precisely pain and suffering that is the central theme of this thesis.
The thesis presents suffering and pain, leading us from the Old Testament context and the understanding of illness through the New Testament to the climax of the work, which is incarnation of the Jesus Christ, often presented as a man of suffering, but also as a Healer of the bod and the soul. Jesus is portrayed as a doctor, although he never said so about himself in the Holy Scriptures. He is a perfect doctor, an example to all doctors and health professionals today.
After the speech about Jesus the doctor, the work enters the final phase, which is the mission of today's doctors, pastoral care, the connection of medicine as a science with moral theology
Silence or notice? Exegetical and theological analysis of Mk 16, 1-8
učeništva i mesijanskom tajnom. Ti motivi su međusobno isprepleteni, osobito motiv
učeništva i mesijanska tajna. Kako se evanđelje bliži svom vrhuncu i otkrivanju istinskog
Isusovog identiteta, to učenici Isusa sve manje razumiju i ne prepoznaju ga kao dugo
očekivanog Mesiju. Na kraju prvog dijela rada ukratko ćemo prikazati problematiku
evanđelja kroz povijest.
U drugom dijelu rada pristupit ćemo detaljnijoj egzegetsko-teološkoj analizi Mk 16, 1-8.
U prvom poglavlju analizirat ćemo vrlo složeno pitanje završetka Markovog evanđelja
(16, 1-8) i takozvanog kasnijeg dodatka (16, 9-20).
Uskrslim postati neustrašivi i autentični navjestitelji Radosne vijesti. The thesis entitled »Silence or Notice?« presents an exegetical and theological analysis
of the original ending of Mark's Gospel (16:1-8). In the first part of the thesis, we will
look at the basic features of the Gospel according to Mark, such as the author, place and
time of creation, the community to which the gospel was addressed, language and
structure. This gospel is recognizable by Mark's consistent theology, which deals with the
motiv of the Kingdom of God, the theme of discipleship, and the messianic mystery. These
motives are intertwined, especially the motive of discipleship and the messianic secret.
As the gospel approaches its climax and the revelation of the true identity of Jesus, the
disciples understand Jesus less and less and do not recognize him as the long-awaited
Messiah. At the end of the first part of the thesis, we will briefly present the issue of the
gospel throughout history.
In the second part of the thesis, we will approach a more detailed exegetical and
theological analysis of Mk 16:1-8. In the first chapter, we will analyze the very complex
issue of the ending of Mark's Gospel (16:1-8) and the so-called later addition (16:9-20).
In the central part, we will try to answer the question of women's flight and silence, which
are a reaction to meeting a young man in a white dress in Jesus' tomb, with special
reference to the role of women, which is also the role of readers of all times.
The main goal of this thesis is to point out the pedagogical and kerygmatic character of
the open ending of Mark's Gospel, which still has a strong pragmatic force and function
today. The reader gets the impression that the announcement of Jesus' resurrection
paradoxically ends with the flight and silence of the women. But Mark's deliberate open
ending is extremely stimulating for readers today who are called to take on the role of
women, go to Galilee and, in a personal encounter with the Risen One, become fearless
and authentic heralds of the Good News
Concepts of love in the West - Denis de Rougemont, Eva Illouz and St. Bernard of Clairvaux
The thesis deals with the research of three different types of understanding of love in modern society that have developed as specifics of Western culture. The first part of the study is dedicated to the essayist Denis de Rougemont and his work “Love in the Western World”, in which the author explains the reasons for shaping the concept of today's understanding of love and why it found its source and stronghold in the West. The second part of the study presents the thought of contemporary sociologist Eva Illouz who reflects on the crises of understanding love and married life in the West, with special emphasis on the problems faced by women due to the consequences of commercialization and capitalization of love. The last part will bring an analysis of the theological speeches of St. Bernard of Clairvaux on the correct conception of love, with particular emphasis on God’s love as the archetype and foundation of that conjugal love
Silence and quietness in the age of noise. The challenge of renewal of silence and quietness in Church and society
The time in which we live, is the time of unending noise. That is the reason why the aim of this study is to point out the need for arrival of silence and quietness in Church and society. The aim is to show the importance of silence and quietness in human life, including anthropological perspective, along with theological level. For Christians, the silence is not only the absence of noise, but also a place to meet God. The problem of modern human is inability to enter the own, personal space of silence, the fear of dealing with oneself, and finally, with God. This study talks about the certain crisis in which silence and quietness are today, and also gives possible solutions for noise crisis and absence of silence. The study also suggests the value of silence and quietness starting from the Bible, especially through examples of Jesus's, Mary's and Joseph's lives, which were all saturated with immense silence. One of the themes in this study talks about silence and quietness in spiritual life. The silence is prerequisite for the real spiritual life. What is important is to constantly search for the silence and to calm your own passions, desires and disturbances. Only when the person obviates oneself, the person becomes capable for God, and later for meeting with others. The study expresses the need for silence in liturgy, as the only accurate position in front of the great mystery of God. In the end, this study indicates all the possible ways and perspectives of renewal of silence and quietness in Church and society
Lectorate and acolyte. Historical overwiew and current organization
This thesis aims to present two liturgical services, lectorate and acolyte, and provides their historical overview and possible perspectives. The thesis is divided into four parts. At the very beginning of this thesis, the origin of lectorate and acolyte, their development and tasks in early Christianity, up to the tenth century, both in the West and in the East, are described. The second part of this dissertation is based on the Trident reform of the liturgy. These services are presented here as transitional steps to the presbyterate, exclusively intended for priestly candidates. An analysis of the liturgical texts of the ordination of these two officials is also presented here. The third part aims to clarify the role and tasks of lectors and acolytes as provided by the documents after the Second Vatican Council, and here is also an analysis of the rites of installation to these services. The fourth part, relying on both older and more recent church documents, has the desire to look into the future of lectorate and acolyte services
