Julia Kristeva and the Theory of Intertextuality
No full textThis thesis examines the reconfigurations of the theory of intertextuality throughout the work of Julia Kristeva. Divided into three chapters, it discusses three key periods of her oeuvre. The first chapter focuses on the 1960s, analyzing Kristeva's theoretical intervention in the field of semiotics, aiming to characterize the theory of intertextuality as both a result and an agent of a mode of change conceptualizable as transformation. It explores how Kristeva engages with psychoanalytic theory, which later becomes central to her work in the 1970s. The second chapter analyzes this period of her work, emphasizing the intertextual function as a mechanism of working-through, and interprets Kristeva's attempt to replace the term "intertextuality" with "transposition". The third chapter traces Kristeva's appropriation of phenomenological thematizations of the body and the flesh in the 1990s, highlighting her interest in the Proustian metaphor of transubstantiation, and characterizes the modification that the theory of intertextuality undergoes in this context. These three stages are understood as distinct perspectives on a single, yet multifaceted, theory of intertextuality.Práce sleduje proměny pojetí intertextuality napříč teoretickým dílem Julie Kristevy. Ve třech kapitolách pojednává tři období její tvorby: prvně se věnujeme období 60. let a sledujeme autorčinu teoretickou intervenci do oblasti sémiotiky, s cílem charakterizovat teorii intertextuality jako výsledek a zároveň činitel způsobu změny, který je konceptualizovatelný jako transformace. Všímáme si způsobu, jakým Kristeva pracuje s psychoanalytickou teorií, která se následně stává ústřední v jejím díle 70. let. Při jeho analýzách v druhé kapitole zdůrazňujeme intertextuální funkci jako mechanismus propracovávání a interpretujeme autorčinu snahu o nahrazení termínu intertextualita termínem transpozice. Ve třetí kapitole sledujeme Kristevinu apropriaci fenomenologických tematizací těla a tělesnosti v 90. letech, zdůrazňujeme zájem o proustovskou metaforu transsubstanciace a charakterizujeme, jakou proměnou teorie intertextuality v souvislosti s tím prochází. Get PDFThe subject of the research is the activities of the National Defense Association of North Bohemian Unity in the Děčín region, specifically the local branch of North Bohemian Unity in Podmokly. The work focuses on its development from its founding at the end of the 19th century to the 1930s. It analyzes its functioning (organizational structure and leadership), membership base, and activities (cultural, economic, publishing, and educational support). The local branch is viewed in a broader public context, noting its interaction with other local associations. The work is based on archival sources from the collections of the North Bohemian National Unity - Podmokly Local Branch 1896-1926 in the State District Archive in Děčín and the North Bohemian National Unity, Prague 1885-1948 in the National Archive. Complementary use is made of contemporary press (Národní listy, Věstník Národní jednoty severočeské, Věstník Ústřední Matice Školské, and Stráž severu).Předmětem výzkumu je působení nacionálně obranného spolku Národní jednoty severočeské na Děčínsku, konkrétně místního odboru Národní jednoty severočeské v Podmoklech. Práce se zaměřuje na jeho vývoj v období od založení na sklonku 19. století do 30. let. 20. století. Analyzuje fungování (organizační struktura a vedení), členskou základnu a činnost (kulturní, hospodářská, publikační a školství podporující). Místní odbor je nahlížen v širším veřejném prostoru a všímá si interakce s ostatníma místními spolky. Sex education and awareness for people with intellectual disabilities: access to contraception
Get PDFThe thesis deals with the topic of sex education and awareness among women with intellectual disabilities, with emphasis on their access to contraceptive methods. The aim of the research is to map the experiences of women living in homes for people with disabilities, particularly in the area of access to and use of contraception. The thesis aims to find out what contraceptive methods are available to these women, which ones are most commonly used, and what factors influence their decision-making when choosing a particular method. It also examines women's motivations for using contraception and the ways in which they obtain information in this area. The research is based on a qualitative methodology and uses structured interviews to provide deeper insight into the respondents' personal experiences and attitudes. The results point to the need for systematic sexuality education, more support in providing information on contraceptive options and an emphasis on respecting the autonomy of women with intellectual disabilities. The work also contributes to the professional debate on the reproductive health rights of these women.Diplomová práce se zabývá tématem sexuální výchovy a osvěty u žen s mentálním postižením, přičemž klade důraz na jejich přístup k antikoncepčním metodám. Cílem výzkumu je zmapovat zkušenosti žen žijících v domovech pro osoby se zdravotním postižením, zejména v oblasti dostupnosti a využívání antikoncepce. Práce se zaměřuje na zjištění, jaké metody antikoncepce jsou těmto ženám dostupné, které z nich jsou nejčastěji využívány, a jaké faktory ovlivňují jejich rozhodování při výběru konkrétní metody. Dále se zabývá motivacemi žen k užívání antikoncepce a způsoby, jakými získávají informace v této oblasti. Výzkum je postaven na kvalitativní metodologii a využívá strukturované rozhovory, které umožňují hlubší vhled do osobních zkušeností a postojů respondentek. Výsledky poukazují na potřebu systematické sexuální osvěty, větší podpory při informování o možnostech antikoncepce a důrazu na respektování autonomie žen s mentálním postižením. Typologické a chronologické zhodnocení keramiky z Darbandské zdi
Get PDFThis thesis presents the first complete publication and typological analysis of the ceramic assemblage recovered from the Darband Wall in southern Uzbekistan during the Czech-Uzbek archaeological expeditions of 2018 and 2022. The Darband Wall, part of the Iron Gates corridor between Bactria and Sogdiana, occupies a key strategic location within a broader network of frontier fortifications. The studied assemblage, derived entirely from systematic surface collection, includes diagnostic rims, bases, and occasional decorated body sherds from the wall's rampart, towers, and adjacent scatters. The research applies a morphological classification adapted for unstratified, survey-derived ceramics, distinguishing vessel forms by orifice type, contour, and base morphology. Comparative analysis draws on well-published reference sequences from Uzundara, Kurganzol, Kampyrtepa, Old Termez, and other regional sites. Due to the absence of stratigraphic context, only a small proportion of the material could be securely dated; most forms are placed within broad chronological brackets from the Hellenistic to Kushano-Sasanian periods. By...Tato diplomová práce představuje první úplnou publikaci a typologickou analýzu keramického souboru získaného na Darbandské zdi v jižním Uzbekistánu během česko-uzbeckých archeologických expedic v letech 2018 a 2022. Darbandská zeď, součást průsmyku Železných vrat mezi Baktrií a Sogdianou, zaujímá klíčovou strategickou polohu v rámci širší sítě pohraničních opevnění. Zkoumaný soubor, pocházející výhradně ze systematického povrchového sběru, zahrnuje diagnostické okraje, dna a ojedinělé zdobené střepy z násypu zdi, věží a přilehlých rozptylů. Výzkum uplatňuje morfologickou klasifikaci přizpůsobenou pro materiál z povrchových sběrů, která rozlišuje tvary podle typu hrdla, obrysu a morfologie dna. Komparativní analýza vychází z dobře publikovaných referenčních souborů z lokalit Uzundara, Kurganzol, Kampyrtepa, Starý Termez a dalších míst v regionu. Vzhledem k absenci stratigrafického kontextu bylo možné jen malou část materiálu přesně datovat; většina tvarů je zařazena do širokých chronologických rámců od helénistického po kušánsko-sasánovské období. Socio-cultural and religious integration in the perspective of the parish congregation of the ČCE
No full textSociocultural integration is a sensitive process associated with people who have left their home country and are trying to integrate into everyday life in a new, but above all different, place in another country. Socio-cultural integration of individuals or small groups is, nevertheless, a com mon part of society within a country or city and its different social groups. The present work deals with the issue of the sociocultural integration of two religious communities that used to operate wi thin the same city, at some point and under the influence of the circumstances that arose, they star ted a joint process that resulted in the merger and creation of one community. As the bachelor thesis, which also includes an empirical investigation, shows, the outcome of socio- cultural integration is influenced by many aspects that affect the extent to which integration is or is not successful. The bachelor thesis is based on the idea that socio-cultural integration is largely a question of mutual social relationships that must be newly accepted and built. Let us be encouraged by the fact that successful integration can have an enriching effect for all con cerned, while at the same time bringing about their common development. Sociokulturní integrace jednotlivců či menších skupin je běžnou součástí společnosti v rámci jedné země, jednoho města a v nich různých společenských skupin. Předložená práce se zabývá problematikou sociokulturní integrace dvou náboženských komunit, které v minu losti působily v rámci jednoho města, v jistém okamžiku a pod vlivem vzniklých okolností započaly společný proces, jehož výsledkem bylo spojení a vytvoření komunity jedné. Jak bakalářská práce, jejíž součástí je také empirické šetření, ukazuje, výsledek sociokulturní in tegrace je ovlivněn mnoha aspekty, které mají vliv na to, do jaké míry je integrace zdařilá či nikoliv. Bakalářská práce se opírá o myšlenku, že sociokulturní integrace je z velké části otázkou vzájem ných společenských vztahů, které je nezbytné nově přijímat a utvářet. Povzbudivá nechť je skutečnost, že úspěšná integrace může mít pro všechny zainteresované obo hacující účinek, a zároveň může přinést jejich společný rozvoj. Mobilization of the Palestinian Diaspora in the Czech Republic after 7 October 2023
Get PDFThis thesis focuses on the political mobilization of the Palestinian diaspora in the Czech Republic after October 7, 2023, when the Israeli government launched a large-scale military offensive in the Gaza Strip in response to the attack by Hamas and other armed groups. Based on twelve semi-structured interviews with respondents of Palestinian origin living in the Czech Republic, the research examines how they experienced the events in Gaza, how they reacted to the Czech political, media, and social environment, how these factors interacted, and how they were reflected in their mobilization activities. The thesis connects the analysis of external stimuli, including the conditions of the host country, with internal emotions, identity, and individual motivations. It demonstrates that the mobilization was a reactive response to perceived injustice in the context of the disproportionate actions of Israel in Gaza and the approach of the Czech Republic and the Western world to these events. Emotions such as moral shock, indignation, and anger played a key role in activating political action, while sadness and helplessness initially had a short-term demobilizing effect. This hope emerged both from...Tato diplomová práce se zaměřuje na politickou mobilizaci palestinské diaspory v České republice po 7. říjnu 2023, kdy izraelská vláda v reakci na útok Hamásu a dalších ozbrojených skupin zahájila rozsáhlou vojenskou ofenzivu v Pásme Gazy. Skrze dvanáct polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s respondenty palestinského původu žijícími v Česku práce zkoumá, jak prožívali události odehrávající se v Gaze, jak reagovali na české politické, mediální a společenské prostředí, jak spolu tyto faktory interagovaly a jak se promítly do jejich mobilizačních aktivit. Práce propojuje analýzu věnující se vnějším podnětům včetně podmínkám hostitelské země s vnitřními emocemi a identitou a motivacemi jednotlivců. Ukazuje, že mobilizace byla reaktivní odpovědí na vnímanou nespravedlnost v kontextu nepřiměřeného postupu Izraele v Gaze a přístupu České republiky a západního světa k těmto událostem. Emoce jako morální šok, rozhořčení a hněv sehrály klíčovou roli v aktivaci politického jednání, zatímco smutek a bezmoc měly zpočátku krátkodobě demobilizační účinek. An analysis of sustainability communication and the level of greenwashing in the Czech banking sector
No full textThis bachelor thesis focuses on the communication of sustainability by the banking sector in the Czech Republic, its perception by the public, and an analysis of this communication on the social media platform Instagram in 2023 by five leading banks operating on the Czech banking market. The theoretical part of the thesis explores the importance of sustainability in the banking sector, green marketing, green banking, greenwashing, and provides examples of sustainability communication by foreign banks. The practical part consists of two research components. The first is a quantitative survey conducted on a representative quota sample of 1,000 adult respondents from the Czech online population. The second is also a quantitative survey in the form of content analysis of sustainability-related communication on Instagram in 2023 by five major Czech banks (Česká spořitelna, ČSOB, KB, Raiffeisenbank, and Air Bank). The findings may serve as a valuable resource for communication professionals in understanding public perceptions of sustainability both within the banking sector and in the general population. Moreover, the results may provide useful insights for banking sector professionals seeking to enhance the sustainability communication strategies of their institutions.Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na komunikaci tématu udržitelnosti bankovním sektorem v České republice, na její vnímání veřejností a na analýzu této komunikace na sociální síti Instagram v roce 2023 u pěti předních bank působících na českém bankovním trhu. Teoretická část práce se zabývá významem udržitelnosti v bankovním sektoru, green marketingem, green bankingem, greenwashingem a příklady komunikace zahraničních bank. Praktická část je složena ze dvou výzkumů. Prvním z nich je kvantitativní výzkum realizovaný formou dotazníkového šetření na reprezentativním kvótním vzorku české dospělé online populace o 1000 respondentech. Dále obsahuje práce druhý kvantitativní výzkum formou obsahové analýzy komunikace udržitelných témat na Instagramu za rok 2023 pěti předními českými bankami (Česká spořitelna, ČSOB, KB, Raiffeisenbank a Air Bank). Výsledky výzkumu mohou sloužit jako podklad pro odborníky v oblasti komunikace, a to jak při zkoumání vnímání udržitelnosti v bankovním sektoru, tak v české populaci obecně. Nonlinearity of teleconnections in the climate system
Get PDFA teleconnection is large-scale spatial link connecting distant climate variability sys- tems. In the field of statistical climatology, it is often assumed that the relationships underlying these patterns are linear. This thesis investigates the validity of such an as- sumption by applying a well-established technique from the field of time series analysis, the method of surrogate data. We apply it to teleconnections related to three major climate variability modes: El Niño-Southern Oscillation, Pacific Decadal Oscillation and the North Atlantic Oscillation, analysed over the 1880-2024 period. Our results reveal statistically significant local nonlinearities in all three cases, suggesting that linear models may not fully capture the complexity of these patterns.Dálkové vazby jsou prostorové struktury vzájemně souvisejících klimatických veličin. Na poli statistické klimatologie se často využívá předpokladu, že tyto vazby jsou lineární. Tato práce vyšetřuje platnost takového předpokladu aplikací ověřené techniky z oboru analýzy časových řad - tzv. metody surrogate dat. V naší práci analyzujeme dálkové vazby související s třemi významnými módy klimatické variability: El Niño - Jižní oscilaci, Pacifickou dekadální oscilaci a Severoatlantickou oscilaci v časovém rozsahu 1880-2024. Branding Švédska v USA: Švédská digitální diplomacie během administrativ Donalda Trumpa a Joea Bidena
No full textŠvédsko je všeobecně uznáváno jako lídr v oblasti digitální diplomacie. Jakožto malý stát se zviditelňuje skrze propagaci svých hodnot, zejména na digitálních platformách, které umožňují přímý kontakt se zahraniční veřejností. Tato práce zkoumá, jak Švédské velvyslanectví ve Washingtonu, DC komunikovalo své hodnoty Udržitelnosti, Inovace, Rovnosti, Důvěry a Otevřenosti na svých účtech na Instagramu a Twitteru/ X. Cílem práce je posoudit, zda a jak se sdělení velvyslanectví vyvíjela v reakci na měnící se politické prostředí ve Spojených státech v letech 2017 až 2024, konkrétně během Trumpovy a Bidenovy administrativy. Metodologie je založena na obsahové analýze využívající umělou inteligenci, která klasifikuje 5 158 příspěvků na sociálních sítích podle četnosti přítomnosti vybraných hodnot. Důvěra a Otevřenost byly z konečné analýzy vyloučeny kvůli nízké interkódovací spolehlivosti a konečné výsledky se zaměřují na Udržitelnost, Inovace a Rovnost. Analýza ukazuje jasné tematické posuny napříč oběma administrativa - téma Inovace dominovalo během Trumpova období, zatímco Rovnost a Udržitelnost se dostaly do popředí během Bidenovy administrativy, zejména v roce 2021. Pro kontextualizaci těchto změn práce zohledňuje také údaje o americkém veřejném mínění na základě Nation Brands Index, které ukazuje...Sweden is widely recognized as a leader in digital diplomacy. As a small state, it enhances visibility through the consistent promotion of its values, especially on digital platforms that allow for direct engagement with foreign publics. This thesis examines how the Embassy of Sweden in Washington, DC communicated its core values of Sustainability, Innovation, Equality, Trust and Openness on its Instagram and Twitter/X accounts. The aim is to assess whether and how the Embassy's messaging evolved in response to the shifting political environment in the United States between 2017 and 2024, particularly across the Trump and Biden administrations. Methodology relies on AI-based content analysis to classify 5,158 social media posts according to the presence of selected values. Trust and Openness were excluded from the final analysis due to low inter-coder reliability, and the final results focus on themes of Sustainability, Innovation, and Equality. The analysis shows clear thematic shifts across the two administrations - Innovation dominated during the Trump years, while Equality and Sustainability became more prominent during the Biden administration, particularly in 2021.
